Guest Post! Reading Travel Has No Restrictions by USA Today Bestselling Author Lucy Monroe

All of us at Joyfully Reviewed are excited to welcome USA Today Bestselling Author Lucy Monroe! Her new book After the Billionaire’s Wedding Vows… is Amazing! You don’t want to miss it! Lucy has been kind enough to write a wonderful guest post for us. Enjoy!

I have always been an avid reader, but I don’t remember a visceral response to traveling via books until I read my first Harlequin Presents.  I was in sixth grade or maybe just beginning seventh.  I’d pilfered the book from my oldest sister’s nightstand. She didn’t know about me sneaking into her romances until decades later when I fessed up.  She was still appalled. lol

That first romance opened up a new world to me.  Yes, the concept of romance was too intriguing to ignore, but it was the setting as well.

I can’t tell you the title of that first Harlequin Presents I read, but I can tell you that it was set in Italy.

Europe and Australia became travel destinations for my mind.  Places I never thought I would actually get to visit were accessible to me via romance novels.

Some authors took particular care setting the scene, so I knew what a Greek villa looked like, or how a Tuscan vineyard smelled like warm earth and the sweet fragrance of grapes.

Many years later, I got to travel to those countries because I had become a writer of the very books that had first made them accessible to me.

My trip to Greece with my husband remains one of my favorite memories.  Walking on cobbled stones in towns where cars were not allowed in the central square, visiting monuments that harkened to ancient eras, seeing art that has been inspiring centuries of humanity.  I soaked it all in.

But it was the people that touched me the most.  The taxi driver who told us about his family.  The market stall owner that expounded on European politics.  The mother with her small children who was happy to sit a moment in the park while they played and chat with a people-watching tourist.

My mother used to say that travel wasn’t about places, but about people and she was right.

The places have value because of the people who make them their home now and who have done so in the past.

After the Billionaire’s Wedding Vows takes place in Greece.  Both the countryside and the city of Athens.  I enjoyed revisiting both places in my imagination so much.  But even more, I enjoyed the idea of taking my readers there with me.

Andros and Polly’s story is one of deep emotion and a marriage in peril.  They have to rebuild their HEA, but this strong minded couple are up to the task.

They both also love where they live and I think readers will get a chance to fall in love with the place as well.

Can this Greek marriage go the distance? Find out in this passionate and dramatic romance by USA TODAY bestselling author Lucy Monroe!
