Shelter for Elizabeth

Elizabeth Parkins lived through a nightmare come true—getting kidnapped by a serial killer. Seeking a fresh start, she moves to Texas, but escaping her demons proves impossible when she’s too terrified to leave her own apartment. A small, accidental fire sparks a coping method she’d never expected, and brings an amazing man to her door.

Firefighter Cade “Sledge” Turner’s idyllic life ended the day his sister was kidnapped. Now he knows firsthand that tragedy can befall anyone, at any time. Meeting Elizabeth on the job was a gift. Cade can envision spending his life with this woman. He understands what she’s been through, is willing to help her heal…though even Cade is unaware of Beth’s new secret obsession.

As Beth takes steps to help herself heal, and Cade attempts to earn her trust and prove his own, they’re both about to be tested—in a way that could see everything they’ve worked for go up in flames.

* Shelter for Elizabeth is the 5th book in the Badge of Honor: Texas Heroes series. Each book is a stand-alone, with no cliffhanger endings.

Let’s talk paperback books. When Mr. Stoker was in the Army, we moved every two years or so…but I didn’t have to pack, move or unpack any of my boxes. The movers hired by the Government did that for me. So it didn’t matter if I had fifty-two boxes of books.
Well, when Mr. Stoker retired, it was a whole different story. It got really old packing, lifting, and trying to find a place for all those books. By this time, ebooks were also my mainstay. So when we moved to Texas I finally made the decision that it was time most of those paperbacks went to good will. So I went through and only kept my favs.

Then I published by first book. Then I started talking to and meeting so many great authors. THEN I realized that a lot of the books I sent off to goodwill were probably by these same authors I now call friends. So sad!!

So, what’s an author to do? Start collecting them again of course! Although now I’m TRYING to only get ONE book by each of my favorite authors…signed of course. It’s a hard thing to do, to limit it to just one book, but I’m trying. So I didn’t have as many paperbacks as I did before, but now they mean more to me because I’ve met each and every author I own a autographed book of.
