Alec Jacobson is an Alpha wolf and the unofficial head honcho of New Orleans even if he won’t claim a title of authority for himself. Anything happens in the Shifter community and everyone turns to Alec or runs away from him as fast as they can. Alec is most commonly referred to as a jerk, but he is a titan among shifters and the man who takes in shifters who have been forcibly changed. He teaches them how to live as wolves. His past is a brutal one, it keeps him from seeking power, but his time has come and his choices removed. He must fight those in power to save the people he loves.

Dr. Carmen Mendoza comes from a powerful shifter family. It’s unfortunate that she was born only part wolf. Carmen is an empath with a human mother. Her father abandoned them when she was a child because he wanted more power. Once again her father wants power only this time he needs Carmen to get it and he is willing to do anything achieve his goals.

When Carmen is kidnapped Alec is on the case. He finds her but that is only the beginning. Alec cannot deny the pull between the two of them and neither can Carmen. Together they will begin a dangerous game of survival. Alec’s only goal is to find out who wants to harm Carmen, why and eliminate them.

The shifter world gets turned upside down in Deadlock. Change has been coming for a long time. Alec has been backed into a corner. He can no longer sit on the sidelines and watch the people he cares about be treated like pawns in a game. The time to act is now or never. Who will be left alive when the dust settles?

I am a huge fan of this series. Moira Rogers has created so many wonderful characters within the series. I must admit that I was a little bit disappointed when I discovered the third book in the series was going to be Alec and Carmen’s book. Like many I have been dying for Andrew and Kat’s book, but let me just say I was definitely not disappointed in Deadlock. I look back now and realize I would have missed out on a truly beautiful story.

Deadlock is a fantastic exciting addition to the series. Alec and Carmen are outstanding! I am so in love with Alec it’s ridiculous. Alec and Carmen are phenomenal together. They will tear the house down with the fiery passion stirring between them. Deadlock captured my attention from page one and I remained riveted throughout. There is a lot going on in Deadlock being the third in the series it may be a little difficult to understand the politics in the shifter world and you miss some details regarding supporting characters. I recommend starting from the beginning of this series but it’s not totally necessary to enjoy Deadlock it just makes it more fulfilling. The Southern Arcana series is one of my all time favorites. Anyone that enjoys novels featuring domineering Alpha wolves and the sassy women determined to show them the error of their ways will love Deadlock.

Madeline Chase recently lost her grandmother—the woman who raised her after her parents died when she was young.  Now Madeline is in charge of a hotel chain, and she is going to have to face the place that she and her grandmother fled eighteen years ago after an unspeakable night of horror for Madeline and everyone else.  Madeline had to turn her back on many things, most of which she didn’t mind, but one of those things was her best friend, Daphne, the person who she made a pact with as her secret sister.

John Rayner, but known as Jack, is the head of the security firm for the hotels that Madeline now owns and runs.  This is his second security firm as his first one went under when his partner died.  With a background as a profiler, which was beginning to change him, Jack left that behind and started his own business.  Right now, Madeline’s company is his biggest client, which could be a serious conflict of interest based on the attraction he has towards her.  Jack is not happy when Madeline says she is going alone to a property on an island that she hasn’t seen in eighteen years and that only the old caretaker is at.

Madeline returns to Aurora Point Hotel only to find her old friend and the caretaker dying from an obvious attack and to hear his attacker is still in the hotel building.  Not knowing where else to turn, Madeline brings in the police and calls for Jack to join her.  As Jack and Madeline begin to put the pieces together of what happened, it leads them to that horrible night when Madeline was attacked. The only good thing is that Daphne and Madeline are brought back together.  As Jack, Madeline, Daphne, and Jack’s brother, Abe, begin to put the pieces together, the answers bring danger closer than ever.  Also during this time, romance is in the air as Jack and Madeline have finally given in to their attraction.  But first, they must determine final answers on who killed whom and, more importantly, why, along with just how it’s all entwined with the night Madeline was attacked.  The final answers will tear a family and a community apart and, just when you think it’s finally over, more wrinkles appear before Jack and Madeline can plan for their future together.

A woman facing a past terror and a man who wants to protect and love her will uncover a deadly secret while falling in love in Secret Sisters.  I’m not sure where to start, but to say that Ms. Krentz produced a book that I could not put down. The story also sucked me in from the first page until the very last one.  Madeline and Daphne lost a huge part of their childhood way too early and now they would once again find their old friendship as the answers became clear on long ago acts, which have turned deadly once again.  Jack and Madeline’s romance was mixed with thick suspense and deadly danger and yet, it drew me in with their bantering back and forth.  After I learned about just why Jack had to start over twice, I was shown just how strong of a man he really was and that he was the perfect person to complement Madeline’s personality.

I have always enjoyed the romantic suspense from Ms. Krentz, yet with Secret Sisters, I found even more than I expected.  I found that the plot and writing had something extra which made the book and characters richer to me.  The ending grabbed me as again, it was also unexpected and answered each and every question by the time it was over.  Secret Sisters is a must-read for anyone who enjoys romantic suspense.  It is well written and well worth the time to read and enjoy.  It is also Joyfully Recommended by me.  My only advice is, don’t start it when you will only have a short time to read.

Greer Addison could not get the image of her fiancé having sex with her supposedly best friend, out of her head.  Distraught, a heartbroken Greer finds comfort in the arms of bad boy, Raphael Marcel.  Things then go from bad to worse when Greer arrives home from her passion-filled night with Raphael, only to discover her fiancé, dead and her unconscious with no memory of what happened.

Raphael “Rafe” Marcel could not believe it when Greer showed up on his doorstep claiming she’s pregnant with his child and asking for his protection against an unknown stalker, one who’s determined to keep her in the headlines regarding her ex-fiancé’s murder, until her memory returns.

Phew! Readers, hold on to your horses because Raphael will blow your mind.  The suspense is electrifying, the sex is wickedly naughty, the plot perfectly paced, and the characters, whether main or secondary, are impressive and captivating.  When the identity of the stalker is revealed, my jaw, literally, dropped open. I admit that I did not see that coming. I was totally shocked and found myself screaming with excitement!  Naima Simone paints her scenes so well-defined and vivid to the point where I felt that I was right there in the middle of all the action.  My emotions were all over the place, I giggled and even shed a few tears. I yearn to experience the unconditional loving that Rafe and Greer shared.  I was completely engrossed in the storyline from the beginning until the very last word.  Raphael is one novel not to be missed.  I promise that you will not be disappointed.

I Joyfully Recommended Raphael!

Attorney Malachim “Mal” Jerrod is currently on suspension.  He may lose his attorney license and firm due to a 20 year old secret that he and his friends covered up.  Now that the investigations have started, Mal’s firm is in dire need of staff.  So when Danielle Warren arrives, he hires her on the spot.  Unbeknownst to Mal, Danielle is hoarding secrets that could not only cost him his firm but also their lives.

Danielle Warren has been to hell and back.  Two years ago, she barely escaped her abusive ex-husband.  Afraid and living on the run, Danielle is ready to change location at any given moment especially now that her ex-husband has been released from prison.  She has never allowed herself to get close to anyone until she starts working at Malachim’s law firm.  Will Danielle finally let her guard down and trust Mal with the truth about her past?

Malachim is one intense read that will keep you guessing until the very end.  Mystery, thrilling suspense, secrecy, and smoking hot romance are a few words I would use to describe the plot.  Author Naima Simone does an excellent job of building anticipation and apprehension before tidbits of truths are revealed to keep you pondering until the surprising conclusion.

Both Mal and Danielle were suffering from demons from their pasts.  It was a joy to see them work through their problems as individuals and as a couple.  They are a perfect match for each other – past misfortunes and all.  Danielle is strong-willed, smart, stubborn, proficient, and most importantly, a survivor.  Likewise, Mal’s character possesses strength, intelligence, determination, and dignity.  I winced at what Danielle endured at the hands of her ex-husband.  I admired her inner strength to break away from that monstrous situation and accept Mal’s unconditional support.

Naima Simone’s Malachim is a well-written, heartfelt story that will evoke many emotions within.  I Joyfully Recommend it!

Beluviel was the consort for the Elven High Lord for more years that most can remember.  Now, with is death after a horrible attack on the Elven home, Beluviel is trying to help give her people some form of comfort and normalcy.  You would think that after so many years, Beluviel would be in deep morning for her consort, however, things were not as they seemed with the couple who ruled.  What Beluviel does grieve, and has for many years, was the relationship and attraction that never had a chance to grow and deepen.

Graydon has been a Wyr Sentinel for many, many years and just recently he became the First Sentinel. Graydon has always enjoyed doing his job and protecting the Wyr and others who needed it.  But the one thing that Graydon has missed is the woman who might have been so much more than a lover and who he had to walk away from two hundred years ago.  It always hurt watching other Wyrs with mates knowing he has to stay away from the one woman who wants to forget everything when she was around—Beluviel.

It all began two hundred years ago when Beluviel and Graydon raced to try and help someone from making a huge mistake.  Along the way, their attraction bloomed into passion and Beluviel and Graydon thought to make plans together.  Love might have been in the air, but it never had a chance as Djinn Malphas held a card neither Beluviel nor Graydon could quash, and they had to separate.  Now, time has come to play hardball with Malphas before he can play that trump card and ruin many, many lives for both those of the Elder Races and human world.  Graydon has waited for his chance to end Malphas’ hold and have the chance with Beluviel that was denied them.  They both know it’s going to be risky and deadly dangerous, even with a plan and so many powerful friends to help.  The plan is set and the players are in position; the night is about to explode and the question is just who will win this final high stakes game and who won’t?

The Wyr and Elven have had a feud forever, or should I say some of the Elven have had a feud with Dragos. Now that two lovers have found each other again, the relationship is about to go under a drastic change.  Beluviel and Graydon gave up so much to save someone, and now they will fight not only for that same person, but also for themselves in Shadow’s End.  I knew even before I read this story that Graydon and Beluviel had some type of history, but I didn’t even guess what it was or what had happened.  My respect for Graydon grew as I realized just what he had lost that day many years ago, and how he quietly and stealthily worked to get it back.  I only knew about Beluviel by the little she was in the books as the Elven consort.  Learning about why she put up with her life for so long told me that this was one strong and formidable woman.  I really loved watching as Beluviel and Graydon worked together, both originally and now, to end the hold that Malphas had on them and others.  The final battle was all I could have hoped for, and yet it was so bittersweet by the time it was over.  However, I have to say that the joy and love between Garydon and Beluviel turned that bittersweet feeling into a sigh of fulfillment by the time I turned the final page.

Shadow’s End is crammed packed with emotion, both good and bad.  It also gave Graydon the mate that I was hoping for him—yes I freely admit that Graydon is one of my favorite Sentinels.  The Elder Races have truly been changed with this book, and I for one can’t wait to see just how these changes unroll as the series goes on.  There is so much that I just want to shout out and chat about, but since I can’t, I just have to say that Shadow’s End is a major Recommended Read.  Not only will you not want to miss Graydon and Beluviel’s journey to mating, but you will also want to see the other things that will affect this world forever.
