The fate of millions of lives hangs in the balance in this new Psy-Changeling Trinity novel from New York Times bestselling author Nalini Singh…

Kidnapped as a young girl, her psychic powers harnessed by a madman, Memory lives a caged and isolated existence…until she comes face-to-face with a wolf. Labelled an empath by her bad-tempered rescuer, Memory knows that her ‘gift’ is nothing so bright. It is a terrible darkness that means she will always be hunted.

But Memory is free now and she intends to live. A certain growly wolf can just deal with it.

Alexei prefers to keep his packmates at bay, the bleak history of his family a constant reminder that mating, love, hope is not for him. But Memory, this defiant and fearless woman who stands toe-to-toe with him awakens the most primal part of his nature—and soon, he must make a choice: risk everything or lose Memory to a murderous darkness that wants to annihilate her from existence…

Alexei Vasiliey Harte is one of the Snow Dancer Lieutenants. Once a lighthearted person, his entire personality underwent a change when his brother went rouge and had to be killed.  Now Alexei waits for what he believes the next part of a family curse will be.  One day he heard a sound in the woods so sad and painful and follows it to find the source. Alexei can tell that whoever is projecting this sound is powerful and deeply in pain and grief.  What he doesn’t expect to find is a young woman Psy caged in Snow Dancer land.  Memory Aven-Rose watched as a madman killed her mother and then kidnapped her and has held Memory ever since.  What Memory didn’t understand until she got older was why this happened.  Memory’s only joy growing up as a captive has been a pet, which just died after many years of companionship. Her pain and grief is so huge she can’t hold it in and lets it out into the world.  When Alexei suddenly shows up in her “home” Memory can only deal with her grief at first.

Alexei quickly learns what made Memory so special and is determined to help her fully escape the madman who kidnapped her so long ago and to learn about her gift.  Memory struggles to accept just what her Psy gift is with Alexei’s help and those others with her type of gift.  The real struggle at least for Alexei is that his wolf knows exactly who Memory is to them and Alexei is fighting it believing he doesn’t get a chance at a true loving future.  As Alexei and Memory work together to free her from the darkness of her childhood and to learn just where she fits in her designation, they are also falling deeply in love.  When all the answers are found, it seems truly freeing Memory is going to be easier than Alexei overcoming his fear of what his future will be.  Can Memory’s love and the love and support of his pack help Alexei step into the golden love just waiting for him?

Wolf Raingives Alexei not only his mate, but the faith to believe he has a future with his mate.  Wow, what a journey Memory and Alexei have before they can just be together.  Their attraction is there from the first and the passion soon follows.  I absolutely loved how they fought together and for each other when needed.  I also loved how we saw both sides of being an E-Psy.  All creation has a light and dark side, so I was happy to see the dark side of them also and how they still helped ease the mind.  I always wondered what type of mate Alexei would end up with and Memory more than meets my expectations on just who Alexei needed.  Wolf Rainhas shot up to one of my favorite Psy-Changeling books.  There is so much going on that makes it a rich and multilayered story.  I just have to Joyfully Recommend it as a must read.

A Texas Prince Meets His Match...

Cimarron County knows the youngest son of the fabled Prince family as a womanizing hell-raiser, but Luca has changed and he intends to prove it. There's just one problem—a woman with sparkling eyes and more fight than a barnyard cat.

After a childhood of living in foster homes, Ella Kendall has exactly three things to her name: A dog, a pig, and the rundown house she just inherited. Luca may not remember her from high school, but she definitely remembers him. He is as seductive as he was then, but Ella isn't about to fall for his flirting. She recognizes a playboy cowboy when she sees one.

Luca knows Ella has learned the hard way to trust no one but herself. Yet the closer he gets to Ella, the more he wants to be the only one she leans on. Because Ella is the only woman for him, and he wants to be the man who finally gives her the home she truly deserves.

Ella Kendall’s life has been one of hardship. Her mother’s in prison and she bounced from foster home to foster home throughout her youth.  But Ella finally has a place to call her own.  Her grandmother left her a small home in the middle of the vast acreage known to belong to the infamous Prince family. Ella is quite familiar with the Princes’ from the outside.  After all, Luca Prince was her first crush.  She spent her high school years yearning for his attention.

Luca Prince has led a life of privilege.  He’s known as the playboy prince who loves em’ and leaves em.’ However, his life was not without difficulties.  He’s a thirty-year-old man learning to read for the first time while trying to follow his dream.  A dream no one seems to think he can accomplish.

Ella and Luca crashed into each other’s life with intense passion.  Will they be able to fall in love when neither has ever felt it before?

Julia London’s The Charmer in Chaps is a sweet and sexy southern romance filled with interesting characters, sensitive storylines and a heady love story. I enjoyed taking this journey with such complex characters as Ella and Luca.  Ella has a wall around her heart and Luca has never tried to have a relationship before.  They are both in unsteady waters trying to maneuver without getting hurt. Unfortunately, the thing about love is if it can’t hurt you in some way it’s not worth it.  I feel like these two went to war with self-doubt and many other insecurities.  It was beautiful to watch as these two learned how to love themselves and each other.

The Charmer in Chaps is a heartfelt read that will leave you sighing with happiness and wondering what will happen next with these unique characters. I Joyfully Recommend The Charmer in Chaps!

Nora Roberts, the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the epic Year One returns with Of Blood and Bone, a new tale of terror and magick in a brand new world.

They look like an everyday family living an ordinary life. But beyond the edges of this peaceful farm, unimaginable forces of light and dark have been unleashed.

Fallon Swift, approaching her thirteenth birthday, barely knows the world that existed before—the city where her parents lived, now in ruins and reclaimed by nature since the Doom sickened and killed billions. Traveling anywhere is a danger, as vicious gangs of Raiders and fanatics called Purity Warriors search for their next victim. Those like Fallon, in possession of gifts, are hunted—and the time is coming when her true nature, her identity as The One, can no longer be hidden.

In a mysterious shelter in the forest, her training is about to begin under the guidance of Mallick, whose skills have been honed over centuries. She will learn the old ways of healing; study and spar; encounter faeries and elves and shifters; and find powers within herself she never imagined. And when the time is right, she will take up the sword, and fight. For until she grows into the woman she was born to be, the world outside will never be whole again.

Wow! It’s been a couple of days since I finished Nora Roberts’ Of Blood and Bone and I’m still overwhelmed and literally aching for the next book The Rise of Magicks!! I still cannot believe I have to wait nine months!! I digress, this book freaking rocked.  I absolutely loved the first book in the Chronicles of One series, Year One and wasn’t sure how the second book would go or match up to the fascinating first, but this blew me away.

~~~~~Possible Spoilers Below~~~~~
Of Blood and Bone picks up a few years after Year One.  We get to catch up with all of the characters still living from book one and there is even a special appearance by a character I loved.  I was jumping for joy when that happened.
I just thought I loved the characters after Year One.  Of Blood and Bone brings us back to the thriving town of New Hope. We get to catch up with those we followed in Year One and meet the next generation. New Hope has mostly been successful at integrating the town with magicks and those without while the rest of the world seems to be fighting along faction lines.  The magicks have been waiting for the fated One that is prophesized to save them, but hope has waned over the past 15 years.
My favorite part Of Blood and Bone is our heroine Fallon Swift the daughter of Lana and Max from Year One. She is of course the One fated to save the world from the darkness.  I loved watching her come into her over the years. Her journey from child to woman to leader is captivating.
Of Blood and Bone takes the reader on a journey into a dark mesmerizing place. While the story is about magic and survival the heart is Ms. Roberts’ characters. They’re not all good or all bad but they are all bewitching.  Characters such as Fallon, Duncan, Lana and Aryls grab your heart and refuse to let go. You will root for them, cry for them and unfortunately cry for them too.  I couldn’t get enough of these people.  I especially love the slow-burn romance between two very important people.
Again, Ms. Roberts gave us one heck of an ending. I don’t know how I’m going to survive until December for the final book in the Chronicles of One series releases.  The Rise of Magicks is bound to bring us an epic ending to this wild spellbinding series. I’m counting down the days! As with Year One, I’m thrilled to Joyfully Recommend Of Blood and Bone
YEAR ONE by Nora Roberts
YEAR ONE by Nora Roberts
YEAR ONE by Nora Roberts
St. Martin's Press
Science Fiction, Dystopian, Magic
A stunning new novel from the #1 New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts—Year One is an epic of hope and horror, chaos and magick, and a journey that will unite a desperate group of people to fight the battle of their lives…
It began on New Year’s Eve.
The sickness came on suddenly, and spread quickly. The fear spread even faster. Within weeks, everything people counted on began to fail them. The electrical grid sputtered; law and government collapsed—and more than half of the world’s population was decimated.
Where there had been order, there was now chaos. And as the power of science and technology receded, magick rose up in its place. Some of it is good, like the witchcraft worked by Lana Bingham, practicing in the loft apartment she shares with her lover, Max. Some of it is unimaginably evil, and it can lurk anywhere, around a corner, in fetid tunnels beneath the river—or in the ones you know and love the most.
As word spreads that neither the immune nor the gifted are safe from the authorities who patrol the ravaged streets, and with nothing left to count on but each other, Lana and Max make their way out of a wrecked New York City. At the same time, other travelers are heading west too, into a new frontier. Chuck, a tech genius trying to hack his way through a world gone offline. Arlys, a journalist who has lost her audience but uses pen and paper to record the truth. Fred, her young colleague, possessed of burgeoning abilities and an optimism that seems out of place in this bleak landscape. And Rachel and Jonah, a resourceful doctor and a paramedic who fend off despair with their determination to keep a young mother and three infants in their care alive.
In a world of survivors where every stranger encountered could be either a savage or a savior, none of them knows exactly where they are heading, or why. But a purpose awaits them that will shape their lives and the lives of all those who remain.
The end has come. The beginning comes next.
Wow! I just finished reading Year One by Nora Roberts and I’m in awe of her prodigious talent.  It appears Ms. Roberts can do no wrong.  I never would’ve pegged her as a writer of apocalyptic fiction, but she’s done it with her Chronicles of One series. AND YES, she absolutely excels at the dark and dangerous apocalyptic storytelling as much as she does with romance.
Year One takes the reader through the harrowing first year of life for the main characters following the decimation of over half of the world population.  The story begins as the world ends.  The reader gets a front row seat to the actions of the best and worst of the human species.  The characters are forced into situations they never could have imagined.  This allows them to discover what they are made of. You get a picture pretty quick of who is going to go bad in this situation.  Throw in a bit of magick and the dramatic suspense level rises exponentially.
I thoroughly enjoyed the dark edge-of-your-seat journey for the characters as they search for a new home and a new family.  After all, the disease that swept the world left no one untouched. Now, they must all put away the future expectations of the past and look forward with clear unfiltered eyes to find their new future.  It was not hard to fall in love with these people. However, it was hard to lose some of them.  I honestly thought I wouldn’t have to worry about crying when I opened Year One…I was wrong!
While Year Oneis apocalyptic science fiction there is plenty of love between the pages.  There are romances already formed and some yet to be born.  Please forgive the pun but it was magic watching these people live on love during the worst times imaginable.
Year One does a fantastic job of setting up what I’m certain will be an epic journey for the characters.  I’m coming into the series late so I’m very excited to grab my copy of the second book Of Blood and Bone.   However, I’m a bit sad I will then have to wait around 10 months for the third book in the series Rise of Magicks! Alas, I will survive. It is my pleasure to Joyfully Recommend Year One! I also want to give a shout out to my good friend Joy a la Joyfully Reviewed who sent me a signed copy of Year One!!
They say that all great love stories have a happy ending.I, Francesca Rossi, found myself erasing and rewriting mine until the very last chapter.One kiss.Two men.Three lives.Entwined together. And somewhere between these two men, I had to find my forever.
Author L.J. Shen delivers an epic enemies-to-lovers romance in The Kiss Thief!  I absolutely loved this story! I have been on a serious mafia romance kick lately, so I was looking forward to reading The Kiss Thief.  The premise is scintillating. I’m not usually into triangle’s but this one turned out to be exciting and unpredictable which I loved.  It does have a bit of a dark romance edge to it.  Wolfe is dominant and sexy, but he can be a total ass!  However, it was impossible to not fall in love with him.  If you aren’t into Alpha’s with a dark edge this may not be for you.
I happened to fall for this very bad boy.  Poor Francesca is really thrown into the deep end in The Kiss Thief.  I felt terrible about the circumstances that landed her in Senator Wolfe Keaton’s crosshairs.  However, is was easy to feel the instant heady attraction after Wolfe and Francesca’s first meeting. I really enjoyed Francesca’s growth throughout the story.  It was nice to see her find her strength while watching Wolfe realize there’s more to life than revenge.
The Kiss Thief is brimming with so much passionate emotion it makes you feel like your heart is going to burst. I loved these two so much I didn’t want the story to end.  The Kiss Thief is a definite Joyfully Recommended Read!
