SINFUL SCOTTISH LAIRD by Julia LondonSinful Scottish Laird by Julia London
Series: Highland Grooms #2
Published by HQN Books Genres: Historical

English widow Daisy Bristol, Lady Chadwick is in an untenable situation.  Per her Husband’s will she must remarry within three years of his death or forfeit her son’s inheritance.  As the deadline quickly approaches Daisy takes her family and flees to a hunting lodge in Scotland to avoid the fortune hunters vying for her hand in marriage and to wait for the possible return of her once love, Captain Robert Spivy.  She had no idea what she would find when she arrived or how it would change her life.  But will it change her for the better?

Cailean Mackenzie of Arrondale is satisfied to lead his life alone as Laird of his land and as a smuggler.  Cailean’s heart was broken long ago by an English woman and he has no intention of ever letting another woman rule his heart. However, he never counted on the vivacious woman that would plant herself in his life with her bold and sexy demeanor.

Daisy is eager to oversee her life but the world seems to be against her.  Therefore, she is determined to have fun while visiting the Highlands and Cailean is exactly the man she would like to play with. He is determined to deny her regardless of the feelings she stirs within.

Will Daisy’s long lost love come and rescue her from her predicament or will her season of freedom end with a forced marriage to a stranger?  Find out what happens when this Sinful Scottish Laird faces one determined English Lady.

Julia London’s Sinful Scottish Laird hits all the right spots.

Sinful Scottish Laird features fascinating characters, intense sexual tension and one hell of a story.  Historicals are not usually my first choice but I simply cannot resist the men of the Highlands.  Ms. London does an amazing job of taking the reader into the highlands.  The world building in Sinful Scottish Laird is superb.  I could picture it all in my mind and I wanted to go and see it for myself.  I wouldn’t mind running into a man like Cailean either.  While that seems rather unlikely to happen I must live vicariously through Ms. London’s characters.

My heart went out to Daisy and the situation she faces.  I could feel her pain and frustration as I sped through the pages.  When she lays eyes on Cailean the first time the attraction is powerful.  Cailean is dealing with his own inner demons when it comes to trusting women.  He is baffled by the boldness Daisy exhibits toward him and does everything he can to ignore her.  Their bickering is simply hilarious and adorable.  I could not get enough of it. They made me laugh out loud so many times!

Cailean may be sexy as SIN but he melted my heart with his kindness towards Daisy’s son Ellis.  I was expecting more intrigue as Captain Robert Spivey entered the picture.  I was disappointed a bit but the rest of the novel exceeds expectations making Sinful Scottish Laird a Joyfully Recommended Read for February.

Sinful Scottish Laird is a romance you will not soon forget.  This sexy couple will sweep you off your feet and have you racing through the pages to discover if they find their happily ever after. Ms. London gives us a remarkable read with Sinful Scottish Laird.  I cannot wait to take my next trip to the Highlands when Cailean’s brother Rabbie discovers love in Hard-Headed Highlander.

THE MISTAKE by Elle KennedyThe Mistake by Elle Kennedy
Series: Off-Campus #2
Published by Self Published Genres: New Adult

Elle Kennedy returns readers back to Briar University in the second installment in the Off- Campus series with The Mistake. I can’t say this enough but I am head over heels in love with this series. As soon as I finished reading The Deal, I jumped right into The Mistake and never looked back.

John Logan has it bad for his best friend’s girl, Hannah. Since Garrett and her have been together John has thrown himself into endless hookups. This is junior year at Briar University and it’s almost time for him to step into the role that has been planned out since he was in high school even though he doesn’t want to. One night he decides to go and visit a friend in the dorms only to knock on the wrong door and meet freshman Grace Ivers. After spending some time with her he knows she is cool to hang out with but he doesn’t want a relationship but she was the distraction he needed to get over Hannah. After he makes that careless remark Grace pushes him away. Logan spends the summer calling and texting but when they still go unanswered it’s time to step up the plan of winning Grace back only it’s not going to be as easy as it seems.

After being humiliated with the encounter with Logan, Grace is determined not to make the same mistakes this year. While she is still attracted to him she knows nothing will come from it. But when Logan starts planning to win her back she decides she isn’t going to make it easy and gives him a list to complete for a date. Will Logan complete the list and win Grace over or will he lose her forever?

The Mistake is a funny, sexy and a little emotional read that kept me wanting more. With The Mistake being a New Adult romance I was expecting un-relatable characters that were filled with drama, but I was pleasantly surprised how real the characters felt and while there is some drama it’s not overly done and broken up with humor. Ms. Kennedy is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors with each book I read. Ms. Kennedy’s writing is smooth and she has a talent for writing characters that seem so well put together on the surface but underneath are more complex.

After reading about John Logan in The Deal I couldn’t wait to find out what his story was and I have to say I was a little shocked. He comes off as sexy, funny and of course talented yet his family situation is holding him back from what he really wants but it’s his turn to put his dreams on hold for his family. Grace was sweet and on the shy side but I loved the growth of her character. After the summer that she was apart from Logan I could see the change in her to having more confidence and her calling all the shots for once.

The Mistake has a slowly building romance with lots of laugh out loud moments and great sexual tension. One of the things I loved most about The Mistake was the list that Grace put together. Not only was I surprised that Logan took the time to do them but really put his heart into them even though his friends were gladly giving him a hard time.

While I did enjoy reading The Mistake I didn’t fall head over heels as I did with the other installments in this series but I still liked it all the same. Once again I have to highly not only recommend The Mistake but the entire Off- Campus series. The characters are fun, sexy and witty and Ms. Kennedy did an excellent job on telling each and every story. Already I am looking forward to reading more by Ms. Kennedy in the future and hoping there is more Off- Campus stories to come.

THE DEAL by Elle KennedyThe Deal by Elle Kennedy
Series: Off-Campus #1
Published by Self Published Genres: New Adult

After reading The Score and The Goal by Elle Kennedy I knew that someday soon I would start from the beginning in the Off- Campus series and I am so glad the time came sooner rather than later. To be honest this is my first series by Ms. Kennedy and hands down I am already in love with it. Normally I shy away from New Adult but The Deal was just adorable and had me grinning from ear to ear.

Hannah Wells has a crush on the new transfer student Justin who just so happens to be in her ethics class but there is just one problem; Justin doesn’t know she exists. When the majority of her ethics class receives a c or lower her professor requires those students to retake the test, but Hannah isn’t one of them. After class she drops her books and no one other than the captain of the hockey team, Garrett Graham, helps her pick them up, sneaking a look at her grade. When he asks Hannah to tutor him, she says no because she doesn’t have the time but what she is about to find out is that Garrett is stubborn and won’t give up until she gives in.

Garrett Graham might be the captain of the hockey team and he generally makes good grades but after his recent F on his ethics test he knows not only will he be benched but his GPA will be in jeopardy. After finding out Hannah has gotten an A he sets out to convince her to tutor him for one week just to start. After finding out about her crush on Justin, Garrett has a plan. He proposes that they date so Justin will notice her but Garrett’s plan starts to back fire on him. Before he knows it he’s falling for Hannah, he just hopes he doesn’t mess it up.

The Deal is funny, cute, entertaining and sexy. I liked these two characters in The Score right away but in The Deal I actually fell in love with them. Garrett was smart, funny and relentless in pursing Hannah to tutor him. Hannah had a good head on her shoulders and had a sarcastic side that I really enjoyed. One thing that stood out was that Hannah and Garrett are friends for most of the book before they move into the relationship part. They talk, joke around and really do hit it off. When they both start to have lustful feelings for one another I was like yes finally they are going to be a couple but it isn’t an easy road for them. Both Garrett and Hannah have some dark pasts that they will have to overcome but if they stick together they will make it through it.

I really did love The Deal and was glad I decided to take the time to start from the very beginning. Ms Kennedy is no longer a new author to me but an author I will be keeping my eyes out for. Her stories are funny, romantic and contain characters I couldn’t help but love. I highly recommend picking up The Deal if you haven’t done so yet, trust me you won’t be disappointed.

ONE FOR THE ROGUE by Charis MichaelsOne for the Rogue by Charis Michaels
Series: Bachelor Lords of London #3
Published by Avon Genres: Historical

Beauregard “Beau” Courtland was free to do whatever he wanted and was completely fine with that until it was discovered that Beau should have been the Viscount not his brother Bryson. Bryson immediately renounces his title to give it to Beau as he wouldn’t have felt right keeping it even though no one would know, but Beau wants nothing to do with becoming the new Viscount Rainsleigh and all the responsibilities that come with it.

Lady Emmaline is out to teach Beau some manners and to be respectable as a viscount but it’s not solely for his benefit. Emmaline took Bryson’s suggestion to heart to help his brother in order to secure her safe passage to New York, along with her brother to sell her late father’s stories. She became a widow at 23 when her elderly husband, a Duke, suddenly drops dead and she needs a way to be self-sufficient. But Beau wants nothing to do with the lessons and Emmaline finds herself more attracted to him the more time they spend together.

One for the Rogue picks up where The Virgin and the Viscount ended in regards to where the bothers find out who the true Viscount should be and why but don’t worry if you haven’t read the previous book in the series because Charis Michaels gives a prologue that really does set her readers up for the story.

As soon as I started reading One for the Rogue I knew I was already half in love with the story. I just adored Beau and couldn’t wait to really dig deeper as to why he didn’t want to be the Viscount. Both Beau and Emma were well developed and Ms. Michaels gave them room to grow. Beau learns to step up and be the Viscount because Emma needs him yet he’s still uncertain that he can do the job. Emma was a tough heroine and I loved her spirit and determination trying to advise Beau, taking care of her brother and wanting more out of life than just want she had.

Right away Beau and Emma are attracted to one another, but since Emma is supposed to still be in mourning for her late husband she knows nothing will come of it but I loved how Beau was chasing her and making her feel things she never felt even with her late husband.

I don’t know much about historical romances so I’m not sure if everything in One for the Rogue was authentic but it all made for an entertaining story in the end. Regardless, One for the Rogue was my favorite story in The Bachelors of London series and I highly recommend it to readers who just adore a hard working heroine and a hero that is a work in progress.

ACCIDENTALLY ON PURPOSE by Jill ShalvisAccidentally On Purpose by Jill Shalvis
Series: Heartbreaker Bay #3
Published by Avon Genres: Contemporary

I was excited when Jill Shalvis announced her new Heartbreaker Bay series so I was super excited that when I started reading it I was truly hooked by the new group of characters. With each book that has been released I always say that this one is my favorite but I have to admit after reading Accidentally on Purpose that this might be my favorite so far. From the beginning of the Heartbreaker Bay series Elle and Archer have had this love/hate relationship and I couldn’t wait to find out why.

Archer Hunt doesn’t regret giving up his law enforcement career the night he saved Elle many years ago. Since then he has looked out for her, making sure she was happy and safe, even though she never knew. But his attraction to her over the years hasn’t lessened one bit. Archer knows they have chemistry but since they also have a past he knows that she can do better than him, but when Elle’s past comes into the present he will do anything and everything to make sure she stays safe.

Elle Wheaten has had feelings for Archer for as long as she can remember but she also knows that with their history things might never happen between them. Now it’s time to finally get over the most stubborn man she ever met and dating other men is the answer until the hunky security expert starts to sabotage each date in some way or another. With the chemistry burning between them it’s only a matter of time before they act on it and along the way she realizes she needs Archer more then she thought especially as he has owned her heart from the beginning.

Accidentally on Purpose had the right amount of tension, chemistry and funny banter that had me loving Elle and Archer’s story. I couldn’t wait to see what the story was between them and Ms. Shalvis did a hell of a job getting me ready for them in the previous books and yet I was still impressed how everything with them came together and I wondered how they would work out.

Archer was sweeter than I thought he would be but I really did love him. Elle was a ball buster at times but the way Archer gave it right back to her had me laughing out loud. I enjoyed watching these two try to figure their way around one another even though they both want one another. They are clueless to each other’s feelings but I seriously couldn’t get enough of their bickering and banter.

Ms. Shalvis explains their past in great detail and by the end I was completely satisfied with how Accidentally on Purpose turned out. I also enjoyed the moments when their group of friends got together, they are truly a fun group. I hope Accidentally on Purpose isn’t the last book in this series because there are a few more characters I am dying to know about and we also get to see more of Archer’s security team.

Accidentally on Purpose was a great addition to this already addictive series and I am hooked. Ms. Shalvis has a special talent for bringing her characters to life and having me want to join their group. I highly recommend Accidentally on Purpose for everyone’s reading pleasure.
