They say your first kiss should be earned.Mine was stolen by a devil in a masquerade mask under the black Chicago sky.

They say the vows you take on your wedding day are sacred.Mine were broken before we left church.

They say your heart only beats for one man.Mine split and bled for two rivals who fought for it until the bitter end.I was promised to Angelo Bandini, the heir to one of the most powerful families in the Chicago Outfit. Then taken by Senator Wolfe Keaton, who held my father’s sins over his head to force me into marriage.

They say that all great love stories have a happy ending.I, Francesca Rossi, found myself erasing and rewriting mine until the very last chapter. One kiss. Two men.Three lives.Entwined together. And somewhere between these two men, I had to find my forever.

Author L.J. Shen delivers an epic enemies-to-lovers romance in The Kiss Thief!  I absolutely loved this story! I have been on a serious mafia romance kick lately, so I was looking forward to reading The Kiss Thief.  The premise is scintillating. I’m not usually into triangle’s but this one turned out to be exciting and unpredictable which I loved.  It does have a bit of a dark romance edge to it.  Wolfe is dominant and sexy, but he can be a total ass!  However, it was impossible to not fall in love with him.  If you aren’t into Alpha’s with a dark edge this may not be for you.

I happened to fall for this very bad boy.  Poor Francesca is really thrown into the deep end in The Kiss Thief.  I felt terrible about the circumstances that landed her in Senator Wolfe Keaton’s crosshairs.  However, is was easy to feel the instant heady attraction after Wolfe and Francesca’s first meeting. I really enjoyed Francesca’s growth throughout the story.  It was nice to see her find her strength while watching Wolfe realize there’s more to life than revenge.

The Kiss Thief is brimming with so much passionate emotion it makes you feel like your heart is going to burst. I loved these two so much I didn’t want the story to end.  The Kiss Thief is a definite Joyfully Recommended Read!

Meet the women from Wild Rose Ranch—and the men who want them—in New York Times Bestselling Author Jennifer Ryan’s breathtaking series of romance and scandal . . .

Noah Cordero is a modern-day cowboy who loves three things: ranching, his younger sister, and his step-father. John Cordero groomed Noah to take over the Montana spread where he learned to ride and work the land. But when John unexpectedly dies, he leaves half the ranch to a woman Noah doesn’t even know.

Roxy shares Noah’s last name, but not his blood. Estranged from her father, haunted by regrets, and eager to escape her notorious mother’s past, she is forced to fulfill her father’s last wishes. Inheriting means sharing a home with infuriating, challenging, and oh-so-tempting Noah. But John didn’t just make her owner of his ranch and guardian to her sister, his hidden sideline is her worst nightmare—she’s the new owner of the notorious Nevada brothel called Wild Rose Ranch where she grew up.

As their strictly business relationship starts to turn to true love, Roxy begins to wonder, what will happen when Noah discovers her dirty little secret?

Jennifer Ryan introduces us to the women of the Wild Rose Ranch with fantastic flair.  I absolutely adore Noah, Roxy and their Dirty Little Secret.  This book was such a surprise. It’s not something I would’ve picked up but I received it in the mail and I fell hard and fast for these characters.  One thing that really sucks me in is emotion.  Ms. Ryan has packed Dirty Little Secret with such powerful emotion I felt like my heart was being squeezed in such a good way.

Roxy and Noah have been dealt a rough hand.  Roxy’s father, Noah’s stepfather left them to deal with his secrets and there’s quite the fallout.  Now they must navigate their new lives while living together and taking care of their sister. There are many obstacles thrown their way to make it even more interesting.  It’s impossible not to root for these two. It doesn’t hurt that the chemistry between Noah and Roxy is sizzling. If you love intense romance filled with intriguing and loveable characters, then Dirty Little Secret is for you.

Author Jennifer Ryan has paired a blistering romance with a compelling storyline to deliver a sensational story! I’m excited to Joyfully Recommend Dirty Little Secret!  I can’t wait for the next book in the Wild Rose Ranch series!

She was in the wrong place...

Fiercely independent and adventurous, Poppy Bridgerton will only wed a suitor whose keen intellect and interests match her own. Sadly, none of the fools from her London season qualify. While visiting a friend on the Dorset coast, Poppy is pleasantly surprised to discover a smugglers’ hideaway tucked inside a cave. But her delight turns to dismay when two pirates kidnap her and take her aboard a ship, leaving her bound and gagged on the captain’s bed…

He found her at the wrong time...

Known to society as a rascal and reckless privateer, Captain Andrew James Rokesby actually transports essential goods and documents for the British government. Setting sail on a time-sensitive voyage to Portugal, he’s stunned to find a woman waiting for him in his cabin. Surely, his imagination is getting the better of him. But no, she is very real—and his duty to the Crown means he's stuck with her.

Can two wrongs make the most perfect right?

When Andrew learns that she is a Bridgerton, he knows he will likely have to wed her to avert a scandal—though Poppy has no idea that he is the son of an earl and neighbor to her aristocratic cousins in Kent. On the high seas, their war of words soon gives way to an intoxicating passion. But when Andrew’s secret is revealed, will his declaration of love be enough to capture her heart…?

Poppy Bridgerton is dragging her heels on the marriage mart.  She isn’t about to settle for just any man who asks her – only someone who can match her quick wit and will treat her as an equal could catch her interest and none of her suitors have even elicited the slightest glimmer of attraction from her.  Taking a break from London, she goes to Dorset to visit a friend.  While exploring the coast, Poppy discovers a smugglers cave…which would be delightful if there weren’t smugglers in it when she did!  Resourceful as she is, this is one mess Poppy isn’t able to escape and she soon finds herself kidnapped and taken aboard the Infinity, to be presented to its less-than-pleased captain.

Captain Andrew Rokesby loves excitement, but a captive miss in his bed is definitely not the kind of thrill he seeks.  Andrew would like nothing more than to set Poppy free, but his duty to the Crown and the time-sensitive nature of his mission means the lady is stuck accompanying him to Portugal.  A battle of wills and words is about to take place on the high seas…the kind of battle that could cost both sides their hearts.

Oh, what fun The Other Miss Bridgerton is!  Julia Quinn’s characters are always lively and loveable, but there seems to be a special sort of magic to her work when the Bridgerton family is involved.

Poppy is cousin to Edmund Bridgerton (father of the original eight Bridgertons) and she’s as smart, curious, and sprightly as you’d expect her to be.  I absolutely adored her from the very first and couldn’t wait to see her fall in love.  Andrew is her match in every way; he’s charming, competitive, and bright.  I loved the banter between the two of them and really enjoyed watching them peel back the layers of each other’s characters.  Though their story begins in what both would consider less than ideal circumstances, it’s easy to see these two were made for each other.  In fact, had they met at an ordinary family event (quite possible since Poppy’s cousin Billie is married to Andrew’s older brother), you just know they would have fallen in love anyway.  But close quarters lead to a slightly less conventional love story and I loved watching their slow-burn romance unfold.  Add in a dash of adventure and what’s not to love about this book?  It’s a sparkling romance with good humor, endearing characters you can root for, and it’s so light on its feet that the pages of the story seem to fly by.  I absolutely adored The Other Miss Bridgerton and cannot wait to read it again.

ARCHANGEL’S PROPHECY by Nalini SinghArchangel's Prophecy by Nalini Singh
Series: Guild Hunter #11

Return to New York Times bestselling author Nalini Singh’s darkly passionate Guild Hunter world, where human-turned-angel Elena Deveraux, consort to Archangel Raphael, is thrust center stage into an eons-old prophecy…

Midnight and dawn, Elena’s wings are unique among angelkind—and now they are failing. The first mortal to be turned into an immortal in angelic memory, she’s regressing. Becoming more and more human. Easier to hurt. Easier to kill.

Elena and Raphael must unearth the reason for the regression before Elena falls out of the sky. Yet even as they fight a furious battle for Elena’s very survival, violent forces are gathering across the world. In China, the Archangel Favashi is showing the first signs of madness. In New York, a mysterious sinkhole filled with lava swallows a man whole. In Africa, torrential monsoon rains flood rolling deserts. And in Elena’s mind whispers a haunting voice that isn’t her own.

This time, survival may not be possible…not even for the consort of an archangel.

The last few years have been good ones, with the Cascade on some sort of pause.  It’s been business as usual for both Elena and Raphael, but it’s been like looking constantly over your shoulder for the next shoe to drop.  And drop it did, when Elena’s brother-in-law was attacked and left for dead in his home, and threats were left for Elena’s sister and niece.  To say Elena was in the hunt didn’t quite cover it.   Like that wasn’t enough to shake things up, the Cascade just roared forward again and it’s nastier than ever.

As Elena continues her hunt for who almost killed her brother-in-law and to protect her sister and niece, she finds that the attack is part of a series of killings. The question is who is behind them and why.  At the same time the Cascade has attacked not only New York, but also Africa and something crazy is going on in China.  So Raphael and Elena are working overtime to figure out what is going on.  Now you would think that would be more than enough, but no – another strange thing is Elena seems to be regressing and becoming more and more human again.  Plus there is a voice telling her she is part of a prophecy and one will have to die so the other can live.  So who has to die and who is going to live?

As the days go by the answers to who is behind the killings and brutal attack are beginning to point to someone that will hurt Elena to bring down.  And each day she is getting weaker and her wings are being threatened.  Everyone knows her day and night wings might be at risk with everything the voice is saying.  Raphael is trying to move heaven and earth to find the answers to save Elena, but everyone is coming up empty.  It’s becoming a race to see if Elena will capture the killer before she goes down herself.  When all the answers are known, will everyone come out safely on the other side, or will New York be rocked harder than ever before?

Love can conquer all they say, but is it stronger than the oldest and most famous seer in history?  I know that whenever I open a book featuring Elena and Raphael the action will be fierce and the love even hotter.  Archangel’s Prophecy was no exception.  I loved the hunt to find and end the threat to Elena’s sister and niece. I have to admit that I never expected who it turned out to be.   I also lost it several times as Elena was so affected by the Cascade and prophecy.  I saw the true love between Raphael and his consort as the pages became fewer and fewer.  I have to say that the ending was very bittersweet for me and I had to re-read the last couple of chapters several times because I thought a hard rule for me in romance had been broken.  I will also tell you that there is one hell of a cliffhanger.  If you don’t handle those well, you might want to wait until the next book comes out and read them back to back.  Over all, Archangel’s Prophecy is another excellent example of Ms. Singh’s storytelling.  It will challenge all of your emotions before you are finished.  I can promise you this.

Anne Ashburn is a woman consumed...

By her bitter family legacy, by her scorched career as a firefighter, by her obsession with department bad-boy Danny McGuire, and by a new case that pits her against a fiery killer.

Strong-willed Anne was fearless and loved the thrill of fighting fires, pushing herself to be the best. But when one risky decision at a warehouse fire changes her life forever, Anne must reinvent not only her job, but her whole self.

Shattered and demoralized, Anne finds her new career as an arson investigator a pale substitute for the adrenaline-fueled life she left behind. She doesn't believe she will ever feel that same all-consuming passion for her job again--until she encounters a string of suspicious fires setting her beloved city ablaze.

Danny McGuire is a premiere fireman, best in the county, but in the midst of a personal meltdown. Danny is taking risks like never before and seems to have a death wish until he teams up with Anne to find the fire starter. But Danny may be more than a distraction, and as Anne narrows in on her target, the arsonist begins to target her.

J.R. Ward’s Consumed is a terrifically terrifying adventure from start to finish! From the first scenes in Consumed there is no doubt this book will be intense.  I’m not sure if I have ever been so engrossed in the first few pages of a book that nothing could distract. It’s been a little bit since I finished the book and I still get nervous butterflies when thinking about Consumed. The beautifully tragic imagery brought forth will leave you gasping for air…literally!

Ward brings her signature writing style to her new series giving the reader the multifaceted storytelling they adore. You always know going into a book from Ward that you will not be denied any of the characters point of view.

All of Anne Ashburn’s life she has been determined to follow in the family footsteps and leave a shining legacy within the fire department.  Tragic circumstances force her to completely rethink her life and what she wants from it.  Danny McGuire is the fire department’s golden boy until events lead him to begin taking unnecessary risks.  To say that these characters are deep would be a gross understatement. It’s impossible to miss the wealth of emotion that drives and sometimes helps these characters thrive.

Consumed, as cheesy as it is to say it will consume you from page one.  This exceptional suspenseful drama will have you dissecting the characters motives to discover the bad guy!  Anne and Danny’s romance is a slow burn in all the best ways.  We really get a chance to know them both and what is driving them. Both are complex and picking up the pieces after a life-changing event.   I fell incredibly in love with these two!

Enthralling, Exhilarating and Explosive are just a few of the words I would use to describe J. R. Ward’s Consumed. It’s most definitely a Recommended Read!
