Gabriel Wolf has thought of nothing but revenge against the man who ruined his mother’s life, his own father. Now the time is finally here. But in order to finally make him pay he is forced to use his father’s step-daughter. Honor St. James isn’t stupid, she knows that Gabriel is a ruthless man but that doesn’t stop her from falling in love with him. What is unexpected is that Gabriel finds himself falling for her too. When it comes to down to a choice will Gabriel chose Honor and the love she offers him or the revenge he’s been planning forever?

This is my first book by Jackie Ashenden but she’s going on my “must be read” list right now! Wow! Gabriel and Honor’s story kept me turning pages, wanting them both to get over the past and accept that they were meant to be together. Add to this the other members of the Nine Circles and Jackie Ashenden has reeled me in!! Mine to Take should be every romance lovers list of books!

Earth and the humans who inhabit it got a serious wake-up call many years ago when the veil that separated the realms came down and humans discovered just how far down the food chain they really were. It probably would not have been so bad except when humans learned just who and what their neighbors were, the first course of action humans did was violence—the one thing that would not be tolerated. Now humans live under rules set up by the other races to keep the other races safe from the humans’ violence. One of the consequences of those rules is a new policing agency, the Alien and Earth Defensive Alliance, or the AEDA as most refer to it.  One of those human agents is Lacey Rose, a human who has been teamed up with two Luhpynes, and that is both her heaven and hell.

Ansell and Zhubin might not be blood relations, but they act like brothers and were raised together. However, their personalities are very different as Ansell was not adopted by Zhubin’s family until he was a young child and those few years made a difference. One thing they do agree on is the fact that they were marked long ago as being the mates of the same fated female—Lacey. These last few years have been rough for them to control their feelings, because it appeared that Lacey had a boyfriend and they would not interfere with that. But when the truth about a brutal attack on Lacey comes out in to the open and the truth is known, nothing is going to stop Ansell and Zhubin from claiming the woman they love and keeping her safe.

Lacey can’t believe that part of her hell was just misunderstandings on al ltheir parts. Now that the truth is known, their mutual attraction is ramping up fast and their mating is not far behind. However, the danger facing them all, from an unknown hybrid, is also taking a more deadly and determined turn—that of Lacey’s death now that she is newly mated. With their future looking so happy, their only issue right now is taking care of the onetime assailant-turned-stalker. A trap is set and with a little help from other agents and a lot of luck, that problem will soon be over. Or will the trap be sprung against Ansell, Zhubin, and Lacey, thus ending their hope of that future forever?

The world is much different and a whole lot larger now, but the journey to love is just the same as three people will soon discover.  Lacey’s Luhpynes will take Lacey, Zhubin, and Ansell from the struggles of fighting their feelings to mated happiness.  I fell in love with this unique Earth and the neighboring worlds pretty quickly, and I even fell faster for Lacey, Zhubin, and Ansell. Seeing that no matter what your race, there were still the same day-to-day issues made this story and the new world so believable. Watching as Lacey, Zhubin, and Ansell found the answers and fell so deeply in love was a really pleasant way to spend my time. I really can’t wait to see more of these special agents and their co-workers fall in love and work to make all the worlds a much better place to be. Lacey’s Luhpynes is a pretty fast-paced story with lots of suspense and romance spaced throughout it, with just that right touches of humor.

Lilly Webb is a good cop with a mad skill of making weapons. Recently, Lilly escaped after being held somewhere for a time, and she has just been cleared to go back to work. However, it seems that her weapons-making skill has been noticed in high places, and she has been offered a job with the AEDA (Alien and Earth Defensive Alliance). Earth might be much different than in the past now, but some things remain the same—there are always going to be bad guys, and there will always need to be the good guys to stop them. Lilly is really happy with the promotion, but there is one shadow…her episodes of missing time that come and go lately. Not that she will let that stop her anytime soon.

Artaxias is a Vhampire and Gavriel is a Spiryte (the most magical of the races) have known each other for many, many years. As a matter of fact, Artaxias was originally hired to be Gavriel’s bodyguard when he was a young boy. When he matured, they found out that their relationship might one day be much, much closer as they were both marked to mate with the same woman. When they met their new partner, Lilly, they discovered that she was that very woman. They aren’t about to let anything stand in their way of getting to know Lilly and to show her that they are just the men for her as their marks show.

Lilly has always been up for a new adventure and after meeting Artaxias and Gayriel and learning just who she is to them, it appears that a new job and a move are not the best new adventures for Lilly.  They are immediately called out on a case, but as the investigation begins, all three of them will learn that somehow Lilly has had “suggestions” placed in her mind. That quickly changes just how this investigation is handled and what they are actually investigating, which is not the murders themselves, but who did them and why they targeted Lilly even before she came to AEDA. Falling in love and mating was actually the easiest part for Lilly, Artaxias, and Gavriel even with all of the danger surrounding Lilly as they try to keep any possible triggers away from her. Artaxias and Gavriel will protect Lilly any way they have to, while giving her the support to deal with what happened to her.  After all, the Fates have spoken and fated them with a long life together full of love.

A new job brings one feisty cop a totally new life when she meets her two new partners and discover just what mating with the races really means in Lilly’s Torment. When I finished this story, all I could think of was what an odd group of people to mate, and yet it was so perfect for them. I laughed many times as Gavriel got up to his antics and really enjoyed his relationship with Artaxias. I found that Lilly was exactly the right person to bridge them together and fulfill all their lives with love and humor. I loved how the suspense was drawn out, and I am more than ready to open up the next book to discover just how high up this betrayal really goes. I will also enjoy seeing just how Lilly, Artaxias, and Gavriel have progressed in their mating.  Lilly’s Torment is full of passion and humor with touches of suspense and danger that keep you turning the pages to see what is going to happen next.

Before she knows it, Sherry is on the run with said teenager, learns that vampires are real, and that she is the life mate of one and will be meeting him immediately. Sherry isn’t sure if she fell asleep at her desk and this is a nightmare, or if she was slipped something or what, but when an extremely sexy man shows up to get her, Sherry might be willing to keep an open mind—Well, on most things anyway.

Basileios Argeneau can’t believe the phone call he received that not only has his life mate been found, but that she is now on the run from a man his entire family is hunting down. Not only that, but she seems to be having a hard time accepting everything going on as reality. Basil knows that until Sherry truly accepts all that happened, she won’t be able to accept herself as his life mate nor the option of his making her just like him and the love that will spring from this.  However, after this many years of searching, Basil is not going to give up without giving his all to convince Sherry that everything is more than real, and that she is his forever love.

Sherry might be willing to accept that vampire exist and that they all are either from Atlantis or were sired by someone from there, but she is having a really hard time with the life mate thing and the passion that seems to come out of nowhere to swamp both her and Basil. Although having a really sexy man to cuddle and kiss is not all bad. As Basil and the Argeneaus try and figure out just who Sherry has gained her ability to shield from, because it has to be an immortal, the answers turn Sherry’s world even more inside out. So many things Sherry has always believed to be truths have turned out to be false. Basil is determined to be by Sherry’s side as the harsh realities come to light, and Sherry discovers just what her past really has been shaped by. Now it’s time to face the future and the love that has come from nowhere the minute Sherry and Basil came face-to-face.  Can Sherry find a way to accept all that has been told to her, and that Basil really can be her forever lover?

A dangerous encounter turns into the passion to last for eons in The Immortal Who Loved Me.  Basil and Sherry might have met under the worst of circumstances, however, neither are letting that stop them from discovering just what true mates really means.  I thought that Sherry took everything she was told and saw pretty well considering, yet I knew that Basil had a long way to go before Sherry would accept her fate as his life mate. I really felt sorry for both Sherry and Basil as clues were followed and answers were located about Sherry’s past. It seemed like every time Basil tried to help Sherry understand something, a new road block would appear. It got to a point where I was wondering if they would even turn out to be friends, much less life mates.  However, I just didn’t count in Sherry’s sense of humor, ability to adjust and accept the impossible when presented to her, and Basil’s determination to keep and save his life mate from harm both from things in her past and that currently around her.  The Immortal Who Loved Me takes several wicked twists and turns as Basil and Sherry travel the path that bring them to the deep loving future that all of the Argeneaus have found with their life mates.

Tuesday Eastwood has hit the highs and lows in her life by finding the love of her life in college and marrying him and then losing that same love to a horrible death of cancer. Now she is trying to rebuild her life in an Oregon town with one of her best friends. Tuesday has kept her relationships to friends only and sex is just that, sex. But that was before her best friend fell for a rock star who has a moody and sexy brother—one that just calls out to Tuesday.

Ezra Hurley is a rancher and a rock star who fell long and hard and had to fight his way back. The hard love of his family helped Ezra find his way again and now he only records with this brothers and the band and doesn’t travel with them any longer.  Instead, he has taken over running the ranch that they all grew up on. Ezra also is the lode stone that his brothers always lean on when they need help. Having let them down once before, Ezra is not about to let any of his family down again.

Tuesday knows that being anything else but a friend to Ezra might just be the thing that finally breaks her, and yet once they share their first kiss, she can’t seem to stop herself.  Ezra was also affected by that kiss and can’t seem to get Tuesday off his mind.  Ezra has made a decision to try two live shows with his brothers now that the tour is coming to an end.  This is especially scary for Ezra since it was touring that helped Ezra lose his way not all that long ago.  Tuesday is also going through a bad time, but not from her family or even Ezra’s. This attack is coming from a place that should be in the past or at least from where she is learning to go on as she has had to. Tuesday and Ezra might be falling in love in slow motion, but the emotions are just as deep and the potholes are just as ragged as when you’re young, stupid, and falling fast.  Tuesday and Ezra also learn, along the way, some of the day-to-day issues both face, including a racism situation that shocks everyone. When the last pothole is covered and what appears to be the last hurdle has been dealt with, will Tuesday and Ezra have conquered all in the name of love, or will they be the ones conquered?

A most unusual rock star love story to say the least, and yet Tuesday and Ezra show us just what a deep love and friendship can achieve in Broken Open.  After meeting both Tuesday and Ezra in the first book, I wasn’t surprised when they were the main couple in the second book.  They just seemed to click and I could see they had such potential to steam up the ranch, and boy was I correct.  Tuesday’s story came close to breaking my heart, and I had to cheer for her when she still let herself be caught up in the budding attraction with Ezra.  Ezra showed me just what determination and family strength meant as I read what he had to overcome, even if it was self-imposed. As a couple, they smoldered and steamed up the joint, and as individuals, they were each people that I would have been proud to call a friend had they been real.  The highs and lows of Tuesday and Ezra’s book made it one I couldn’t put down once they grabbed me, and it really didn’t take that long for them to do that. Two brothers down and one to go, and I do believe he just might have the hardest time of all three of them—I can’t wait.  Tuesday and Ezra have a joint star that might be a bit dented, but it still shines so brightly it could blind you.  Broken Open wraps you up in strong emotions, while taking you along on a journey that proves everyone deserves a second chance no matter what happened to make a second chance necessary.  I couldn’t put it down, and I’m guessing you won’t be able to either.
