Ella Morgan is a powerful talent, but it’s one she keeps very secret, and only her family knows just what her talent really is. Ella now uses her talent in a much lower concentration as a dream counselor. Once again, it’s wedding season and Ella’s calendar is full as she is the bridesmaid of choice by her friends at their weddings.  Ella would love to register with a match making agency, but knowing she will have to lie about her talent has Ella accepting that she will never be the bride.  After all, just who would willingly marry a full blown siren?

Rafe Coppersmith is also a powerful talent, one that is very useful to his powerful family.  He can find and figure out how to make alien objects work because he understands hot crystal and quartz and most of the alien artifacts are made out of quartz and crystal.  Because Rafe doesn’t really fit into the family business, he also freelances for the FBPI and the Guild task force when needed.  It was one of those jobs that brought Rafe into contact with Ella.

Ella was helping a distressed dust bunny when she met Rafe, and then he just disappeared out of her life for months.  However, the dust bunny became hers and helped Ella move her business into the bigtime.  Now Rafe is back, and he wants Ella to come to Rainshadow Island to help with a contact that his family has there.  Rafe figured out what Ella was when they first met, and it only intrigued him, but circumstances kept him away.  However, Rafe is more than willing to take up where he left if only Ella will agree.  Ella agrees to help Rafe with his mission, but she has no intention of letting him into her heart.  Danger meets Rafe and Ella as soon as they step onto the island, and it only gets stranger as they get going.  Now, not only are they dealing with the danger created by the ancient aliens, but they are dealing with a fringe group—one that isn’t quite what it appears. Rafe and Ella have fallen deeply in love, but there will be no happy ever after for them until they defeat both of the dangers facing them.

A frantic dust bunny unintentionally brings two strong talents together and helps them find a lasting love in Siren’s Call.  I loved how Ella took on a distressed dust bunny and that move seemed to be the first action that triggered all the others and eventually brought Ella her dream wedding to Rafe.  Although, I have to say their path to the wedding was both suspenseful and passionate, with lots of humor tossed in.  Just what the mission was that brought Rafe back into Ella’s life I won’t say, but you will love it.  I really enjoyed watching as Ella fought with all she was worth against the passion until I almost started to wonder if Rafe would get the girl along with capturing all the bad guys and uncovering the real reason for the fringe group.  I will say that the eventual wedding that Ella and Rafe had was the event of the season overall that Ella had ever appeared in and even the dust bunnies who were invited and showed up also had a grand time.

For those of us who have fallen under the spell of Harmony and all of its inhabitants and especially those adorable dust bunnies (until you see both their sets of eyes) Siren’s Call is a must read.  I also have loved just how the Rainshadow Island arc is rolling out and all that we are learning about this mysterious world and the aliens who once lived on it.  Once again, Ms. Castle (Ms. Krentz) has created a story that you will love to just get lost in.  I know I did.  For all of these reasons, I have made this a Joyfully Recommended Read.

Zack Covington was briefly an NFL player when an accident had him walking away from the game. It wasn’t that he couldn’t play; it just wasn’t in his heart to continue. Now he is an employee for Deveraux Security, and he spends his time protecting people.  Part of his dedication to his job is because he enjoys keeping people safe from those that would harm them, which is something he didn’t do to the love if his life twelve years ago.  For the last twelve years, besides his job, Zack has been on a quest to find out just what happened to his “Gracie.”

Anna-Grace Hill is no longer a young and innocent girl and has survived an experience that no girl should ever have to deal with.  If that was not bad enough, that same experience showed her a betrayal of a man that Anna-Grace loved and expected to spend the rest of her life with.  Now Anna-Grace has become the artist that she always wanted to be and is about to have her first large show in a gallery.  It is time for Anna-Grace to put the past behind her and finally move forward.

Zack and Anna-Grace come face-to-face unexpectedly, and the outcome puts fear in her and rage in him.  Zack is trying to figure out just why his Gracie is beyond scared of him, and Anna-Grace is wondering if she can survive meeting Zack again after his last betrayal of her.  Before Zack can get Anna-Grace to tell him just what happened so long ago, she is attacked by an old enemy of the owners of Devereaux Security and the women they love.  Now, it’s beyond personal for Zack and with Devereaux Security to both help protect Anna-Grace and bring down those that hurt her.  As Anna-Grace slowly recovers she finally confronts Zack about just what happened twelve years ago, and she receives a very different reaction—one of horror and disbelief.  Anna-Grace begins to wonder if she has been correct in exactly what she has believed for so long.  Zack has always loved his Gracie and will do whatever he needs to do to try and gain her trust and love again.  Anna-Grace lost so much twelve years ago and now it appears that she might gain most of it back if she can just find the way back to Zack again.  It’s an explosive few days when all those who hurt Anna-Grace get just what they deserve, and the how and by whom might be the bridge that bring Zack and Anna-Grace needs to find forever together.

When young love is destroyed and years later they meet up again, can a lost love find a way to blossom again?  Zack and Anna-Grace have just this second chance in Safe at Last.  I could almost feel the agony from both Zack and Anna-Grace when they met back up and again later as they traveled the pothole-filled path back to each other.  My heart hurt several times for both Zack and Anna-Grace as I discovered just what happened to tear them apart, and I have to admit that I cheered as Zack took care of those who hurt his love.  Then I cheered again as Anna-Grace proved just how strong she was when she put herself in danger to help save a woman who tried to protect her, and she was also Zack’s friend.

Safe at Last is full of emotions that will both tear your heart out and make you want to hug Zack and Anna-Grace.  Their journey back together was not easy at all and yet it had me captivated to see what would happen next.  While I will say there were several spots that were not comfortable to read, I found the entire book unforgettable and a definite keeper.  In other words, Safe at Last is a Joyfully Recommended Read and a book you won’t want to miss even if you haven’t read the previous two books in the series.

Naasir is a true original and one of Raphael’s Seven.  He is also very protective of those he calls family or has accepted as family to him, and he needs to be around them as much as possible for several important reasons.  Naasir is beyond loyal to his Archangel and to Dmitri, the vampire who is Raphael’s right hand man.  Lately, Naasir has been on a very private hunt; he is looking for his mate—a mate he knows is out there waiting for him to find her.  While Naasir has no idea who she will be or if she is a human, a vampire, or an angel, Naasir knows that he will know her by her scent.

Andromeda is a young angel who left her home and traveled alone to the Refuge to seek a job in the library and to learn more about those that preceded her.  Andromeda was accepted by the head of the library, but she kept a family obligation secret when telling about herself.  It was bad enough that she had to admit that her grandfather is an Archangel that many are not crazy about—

Charisemnon.  Andromeda has been very happy during her many years at the Refuge and now her time to do as she wishes is about over.  But before that, Andromeda has agreed to help one of Raphael’s Seven locate one of the sleeping Archangels.

Naasir knows instantly upon meeting Andromeda that she is his mate.  Now he needs to convince her of this and then show his Andromeda just what she means to him.  Andromeda isn’t at all sure of Naasir when she first meets him, but she is very intrigued.  Just as their search is about to begin, Andromeda is kidnapped by a deadly enemy of Raphael and of several other Archangels.  Rescuing Andromeda is Naasir’s first priority, and he does so in style.  Andromeda and Naasir immediately start their quest, but for Naasir it has become a double hunt, for Andromeda has said that she will mate with him once he locates a certain object.  During their hunt for the sleeping Archangel, danger is their constant shadow because others also want to find this sleeping spot and not for a good reason.  In order to complete their task, it will take their combined strengths and intelligence to come out on top. Now it is time for Naasir to complete the task that Andromeda gave him and to find a way for them to be together forever.  This is going to take every sneaky instinct that Naasir has to pull this off.  However, there is NOTHING that Naasir won’t do to have his mate with him forever.

When you are a very special person it will take an equally special person to be the one you mate with forever.  Naasir finally finds his special mate in Archangel’s Enigma.  I have waited forever to discover just what Naasir really was and how he became what he is, and then I really wanted him to find that special person to be his mate.  I definitely got all of that and more as I read Naasir and Andromeda’s journey.  Their hunt for the sleeping Archangel was fraught with danger and also gave them the time they needed to discover each other and to finally fall in love.  That might have been enough to make this a wonderful book, but there was yet another hunt that Andromeda put Naasir on that gave so much more texture and depth to both Naasir and to their love.  I can honestly say that I didn’t want their story to end, and yet I did so that I knew they had found a way to be together even with Andromeda’s grandfather.

Archangel’s Enigma is so full of suspense, humor and passion that it just over fill’s the pages.  I can tell you that I have written this review twice because I wanted to say so much, and yet I want everyone to discover the wonder of just who Naasir is and the love that springs up between him and Andromeda.  Archangel’s Enigma is more than a must read and a keeper—it is a book that you will re-read over again just to discover what you might have missed the previous times.  By the time I turned the final page, I knew beyond a doubt that I had to Joyfully Recommend Naasir and Andromeda’s book and for you to truly find out why you will have to open up the first page yourself.

Lady Rhea Claire and her new husband Dante Leighton are trying to find their way in their new marriage while dealing with her family. A family that isn’t exactly pleased that their much loved daughter has married such a scoundrel, even if he is reformed. While awaiting the birth of their child, Dante plots his revenge against the man he holds responsible for death of his mother and the destruction of his ancestral home. Can they win with so much stacked against them?

Dark Before the Rising Sun is the conclusion of Rhea and Dante’s love story from Chance the Winds of Fortune. Both Dark Before the Rising Sun and Chance the Winds of Fortune are re-releases of titles that were originally published in the 80’s. I read them when they first came out and to this day they are two of my favorite all time historical romances. Books that I have on my keepershelf to be re-read when the mood strikes. Dark Before the Rising Sun comes from a writer who is a true storyteller.  Readers who have never had the chance to read Laurie McBain shouldn’t miss out on this chance!

Lady Rhea Claire Dominick has been kidnapped by her father’s greatest enemy and is sent to be a bond servant in the colonies. She manages to escape and finds herself hiding on Dante Leighton’s ship. Dante is hunting a treasure and thinks that Rhea is there to steal information on the treasure. He has no intention of letting Rhea leave his ship and he certainly doesn’t believe that she’s the kidnapped daughter of a duke. But the longer Rhea remains on his ship, the more Dante wants her. When the time comes will he let her return to her family?

Rhea and Dante are two of my favorite all time characters. Rhea is a protected young lady who is thrown into a situation totally outside anything she knows. Dante is a man bent on revenge and doesn’t intend to let anything or anybody get in his way but he never expected Rhea to come into his life. Watching them stumble their way into each other’s hearts made Chance the Winds of Fortune a book that I recommend to all historical romance lovers!

Chance the Winds of Fortune is one of very first historical romances that I read and one of the reasons I fell in love with romance books. It’s also one of those books that I have on my keepershelf and re-read every so often. Picking it up again to review was like a walk down memory lane and made me fall in love all over again. I am so excited to see that Laurie McBain’s books are being offered by Sourcebooks so that readers who have never read Chance the Winds of Fortune will have the chance to enjoy it as much as I do!
