Dakota Halifax loves to be in love. In fact, as one of Las Vegas’s premier wedding planners, she’s built a whole career around romance. Which is why her own wedding has to be nothing short of perfect. And then her fiancé jilts her. While she’s waiting in her wedding dress. On a cruise ship already out at sea.

Once back on dry land, Dakota tries to pour her heart into her business and weekly wedding advice column, Get Ready to Wed. But how can the heartbroken celebrate others’ true love? When she reconnects with her childhood best friend, surprisingly sexy and all-grown-up casino bouncer Brendan West, Dakota wonders if maybe she can fall back in love with being in love.

But then her ex reappears, begging for another chance and suddenly Dakota questions if she’ll ever understand love. Can someone once-burned and twice-shy ever find her way down the aisle again?

Ready to Wed Playlist

Everyone who knows me, knows I’m crazy about music. It always seeps into my writing, and I’d be lost without my playlists. Today, I wanted to share my playlist for Ready to Wed. It got pretty massive, so I’m just going to highlight a few key songs & give the link where you can find the entire playlist.

What Now by Rihanna – This perfectly fit the beginning when Dakota had just been stood up at the altar. It’s kind of that moment when everything falls apart in your life and you want to scream and cry, but then you’ve got to pick yourself out and figure it out.

Let Her Go by Passenger – Love this song! The guy who stood up Dakota has his reasons, and I think until he let her go, he didn’t realize how much he cared about her. Which means she has to decide what to do about it.

Natasha Bedingfield’s Strip Me album was scattered all over this playlist. From Recover to Little Too Much, which could be the theme song of Ready to Wed. Because when it comes down to it, Dakota’s always put her whole heart into caring about people, and it’s what she does. It’s why despite her heartache over her failed wedding, she wants to figure out a way to enjoy planning other couples’ happily ever afters.

Then, as Dakota and Brendan get closer, I blasted Joss Stone’s Tell Me What We’re Gonna Do Now (featuring Common). It’s all about what you’re going to do when you start falling for someone. (I always vote kissing, but that’s just me. Hehe. It’s also when the playlist transitions to Joss Stone’s Put Your Hands On Me, you know, for reasons.)

Throw in some ZZ Ward and the Unlikely Candidates (who I met after a show and confessed I write to their music, and they couldn’t have been nicer about it. Check out their music! It’s amazing!)

So that’s a screenshot of my playlist and the tunes that kept me writing and editing. For the full playlist, you can check out the music tab on my website: http://cindimadsen.com/Music.html

ABOUT CINDI MADSEN

Cindi Madsen is a USA Today Bestselling author of contemporary romance and young adult novels. She sits at her computer every chance she gets, plotting revising, and falling in love with her characters. Sometimes it makes her a crazy person. Without it, she’d be even crazier. She has way too many shoes, but can always find a reason to buy a new pretty pair, especially if they’re sparkly, colorful, or super tall. She loves music, dancing, and wishes summer lasted all year long. She lives in Colorado (where summer is most definitely NOT all year long) with her husband and three children.
