Please tell us a bit about your latest release.
Outing the Quarterback is the first novel in a new series entitled Long Pass Chronicles. It’s the story of Will, a college senior who lives a life according to his wealthy father’s rules – business major at a high profile southern California university and quarterback of their very renowned football team. He dates the captain of the cheerleading squad and is an all-around golden boy. BUT, he lives in two closets. He’s gay and has never come out to anyone, and he’s a very fine artist and wants to live his life as a painter. He secretly takes classes in art and is competing for a scholarship to art school that he sees as his way out of the velvet prison he’s trapped in. Then he meets Noah, a guy raised on the streets with a huge scar across his beautiful face to prove it, who has fought for everything he has. Noah wants the same scholarship, and his very existence confronts Will’s privileged life. Can Will make it through his senior year in the closet – or are the forces ripping the doors off more than he can withstand?
Football is such a great metaphor for life!
Are you attending any conventions in 2014/15? If so, what are the top three reasons as to why you like/choose them?
I have a very active day job (I own an ad/PR agency) so taking lots of time for conferences isn’t in the cards for me. I usually go to GRL which I’ll be attending in Chicago in October and I usually go to RT.
What is your favorite romance genre and what author makes you absolutely swoon?
Of course, I love MM romance in its many permutations with contemporary edging other genres by a tiny bit, but I like them all from historical to steampunk to paranormal and beyond. I can’t possibly pick one author alone who makes me swoon, but here are a few. My “mentors” Jet Mykles, ZA Maxfield, and Lynn Lorenz are the authors whose brilliant writing made me want to enter the profession. Lately, I’ve been loving and gobbling up books by Eli Easton and Jordan Hawk. And who doesn’t love the Amy (Lane) and Mary (Calmes) team? Although I tend to choose the angstless Amy.
What is your dream vacation spot?
I love to cruise since it offers a variety of stops, often combining both cities and countryside, and uncovering totally unexpected treasure places that I would never have chosen to go by myself – like Malta or Senegal. But then again, there’s always Paris. : )
What do you think has been the most important moment or event of your life so far? And why do you feel that way?
Wow. That one’s too big for me! Marrying my honey is certainly up there.
Is there anything else you would like our readers to know?
I’m so grateful to every person who reads romances in general, gay romances specifically, and, of course, mine. Readers honor me with their kindness, enthusiasm, and encouragement. I’m constantly amazed. And I love to hear from people. : )
Boxers or Briefs — I’m a commando girl
Manscape or Not— Not, I guess, but both are nice.
Lights On or Lights Off – Definitely ON!
Summer or Winter – Summer but I live in southern California so the differences aren’t extreme except the shortness of the light
Peanuts or Chocolate – Peanuts. Yum.
Batman or Superman – Batman. Darker, edgier, more vulnerable
The Voice or American Idol – absolutely The Voice
Christmas or Birthday – I love all celebrations, believe if it’s worth getting older it’s worth celebrating, and still believe in Santa Claus – so both.
Heels or Flats – I like how heels look and flats feel, but I’m old enough that comfort sometimes wins
Talk or Text – Talk!
Action Movie or Comedy – A big chunk of my favorite movies are comedies
Facebook or Twitter – Twitter. Although I spend more time on Facebook, I, like so many, am pissed at their unfriendly customer attitude.
