Series: Magnolia Beach #3
Published by Berkley Publishing Group Genres: Contemporary
I love small town romance stories and for some reason they always make me want to end up there. That was the case with Magnolia Beach. I have only read one other book by Kimberly Lang and I enjoyed it so much I had to read More Than Anything and already I am wanting more of this series.
Shelby Tanner is running the Bay Breeze marina when at 3:00 am she receives a call that one of her tenants who is renting space at the marina has drifted away from the dock. At first Shelby believes it to be a prank but sure enough when she looks outside there is the boat and of course the occupant doesn’t know how to drive it so she goes out to help. When she comes face to face with Declan Hyde she only has two things on her mind, one is to figure out how his boat got loose and two is to go back to sleep. Over the next few days she notices how attractive he is even though he needs a haircut and a shave, but while getting to know him she can’t deny the attraction that burns between them. Shelby knows he’s leaving so why not have a little fun while he’s here. It’s not like she is going to lose her heart, or is she?
Architect Declan Hyde is out of a girlfriend and a job but as they say out with the old and in with the new. Magnolia Beach is just a four month stop on his way to Miami for a new job after the New Year. He’s been catching up on reading, Netflix, and enjoying this time off even though he hasn’t gone into town much. After meeting Shelby the night his boat went adrift he was more than intrigued by this beautiful woman and it’s not going to be easy to get so close with her with her family around, but Declan is up for the challenge because he can’t get her out of his head. He won’t make any promises and she won’t beg him to stay but as the time draws near for him to leave and the closer they become he wonders if in fact he’s making the right choice.
More Than Anything has everything I love in a small town romance. It was filled with love, warmth, and a sweet building romance I never wanted to end. The characters were just so damn likable especially Shelby and Declan and I’m not just saying that because they were the main characters. They were wonderfully written and showed growth throughout the story. Even the secondary characters wormed their way into my heart because while this story wasn’t about them, they also showed growth that already has me wanting to learn more about them.
Declan and Shelby had a nice, sweet and slow romance. I loved that they took the time to talk and ask important questions such as what they really wanted in the long run. Declan believes he worked hard to get that job in Miami and wants that life but I noticed once Shelby got him off the boat and around to meet people he was fitting in and slowly making Magnolia Beach his home even though he didn’t want to believe it.
More Than Anything is the third book in the Magnolia Beach series but don’t worry readers this could definitely be read as a standalone, but after reading this I am going to purchase the previous books because that’s how much I really did love More Than Anything. The best laid plans are often the ones that don’t follow the plan and that really came across in this story. While Declan had his life planned out and was used to being alone he never thought that one woman could have him second guessing his plans. With all this talk about plans, plan to pick up More Than Anything and not because I’m Joyfully Recommending it but because you won’t want to miss this capturing and heartfelt romance.
