The new novel in the Guardian series from Meljean Brook, bestselling author of the Iron Seas novels... After a terrifying encounter in Hell destroys her trust in Michael, the Guardians’ powerful leader, former detective Andromeda Taylor is ready to call it quits as one of the angelic warriors and resume her human life again. But when demonic forces threaten her closest friends and she uncovers a terrifying plot devised by Lucifer, Taylor is thrown straight into Michael’s path again... To defeat Lucifer, Michael needs every Guardian by his side—and he needs Taylor more than any other. The detective is the key to keeping his own demonic side at bay, and Michael will do anything to protect her and keep her close. And when Taylor manifests a deadly power, her Gift might tip the scales in the endless war between Heaven and Hell...or it might destroy them both with a single touch.
Andromeda Taylor was a cop before she became a Guardian and that is still how she approaches her new job assignments. From the very beginning Andromeda has been linked with Michael. While it wasn’t her first option, it wasn’t until a trip in Hell that Andromeda came to mistrust Michael and yearns to be apart from him. Now her wish has come true but at what cost?
Michael knew that when he was separated from Andromeda it would destroy him and right now the final battle that all the scrimmages have been leading up to is just on the horizon. Now is not the time for any of the Guardians to be weak, much less time for Michael to leave the others just when the Guardians will need him the most. Michael knows that Andromeda wants nothing to do with him, but he needs to hold on until Lucifer is defeated once and for all and she is the only thing that will help him do that. Having Andromeda at his side is a must for the final defeat of Lucifer.
Andromeda came back to life from a horrible battle only to learn she will have to swallow her feelings and bring Michael back to lead the Guardians. Everything they have been working for is about to come to fruition. Having Michael leading the other Guardians is a must for them to win the day. The final countdown is on and Andromeda and Michael are working together in a cautious truce. But as they work to bring all the Guardians just where they need to be to keep Earth protected, Andromeda and Michael finally give in to the passion that has been between them. Now they have even more of a reason to win this battle, the only way they can explore the love they have found is to win by stopping Lucifer. Not only Andromeda and Michael have a special reason to win, all the Guardians do – the question is will all the Guardians working together be enough?
When a love/hate relationship finally becomes a passionate love, it’s just in time for a battle that might end their lives before they have a chance to explore what is finally theirs. Michael and Andromeda have fought with and against each other for years, now they have the ultimate reason to fight and win – love. Guardian Demon is the final and most explosive book in the entire series and that’s saying something when I have loved the entire series. I have always wondered if passion might be behind Michael and Andromeda’s future but after their last adventure I was sure there was no way. I learned that not only was there a way but it was a hot one. Both of them constantly seemed to explode off the page. I have to admit that there were several times that the twists and turn had me wondering if the Guardians would make it to the final battle. And what a final battle it was, well worth the years of build up. Yes, I was sad to say a final goodbye to characters I have come to love but I know that they will always be there when I want to re-read all the adventures all over again. Especially now that I know what the future brings for Michael and Andromeda.
Not only did Guardian Demon relate Michael and Andromeda’s loving ending but it also fulfilled all the what ifs that have been in my mind since I opened up the first book. Take the time to sit back and slowly read this amazing story, if you can – I certainly didn’t take my own advice, I just couldn’t read it that slowly. All the adventures and the final battle alone would have been enough for me to Joyfully Recommend Guardian Demon but then it was encompassed with a wonderful love story that made it a no brainer. The Guardians series ended with one heck of a bang.
