Malachim by Naima Simone
Series: Secrets and Sins #2
Published by Entangled Publishing, LLC Genres: Suspense
Attorney Malachim “Mal” Jerrod is currently on suspension. He may lose his attorney license and firm due to a 20 year old secret that he and his friends covered up. Now that the investigations have started, Mal’s firm is in dire need of staff. So when Danielle Warren arrives, he hires her on the spot. Unbeknownst to Mal, Danielle is hoarding secrets that could not only cost him his firm but also their lives.
Danielle Warren has been to hell and back. Two years ago, she barely escaped her abusive ex-husband. Afraid and living on the run, Danielle is ready to change location at any given moment especially now that her ex-husband has been released from prison. She has never allowed herself to get close to anyone until she starts working at Malachim’s law firm. Will Danielle finally let her guard down and trust Mal with the truth about her past?
Malachim is one intense read that will keep you guessing until the very end. Mystery, thrilling suspense, secrecy, and smoking hot romance are a few words I would use to describe the plot. Author Naima Simone does an excellent job of building anticipation and apprehension before tidbits of truths are revealed to keep you pondering until the surprising conclusion.
Both Mal and Danielle were suffering from demons from their pasts. It was a joy to see them work through their problems as individuals and as a couple. They are a perfect match for each other – past misfortunes and all. Danielle is strong-willed, smart, stubborn, proficient, and most importantly, a survivor. Likewise, Mal’s character possesses strength, intelligence, determination, and dignity. I winced at what Danielle endured at the hands of her ex-husband. I admired her inner strength to break away from that monstrous situation and accept Mal’s unconditional support.
Naima Simone’s Malachim is a well-written, heartfelt story that will evoke many emotions within. I Joyfully Recommend it!
