Series: Colorado Ice #2

Maybe This Time is book two in the brand new Colorado Ice series by Jennifer Snow and I just fell in love with it. One of the first things that drew me to wanting to read Maybe This Time was the cover, then of course the blurb, I might not be a fan of hockey but I love reading about hockey players. Jackson and Abby won my heart from the very beginning and this is one series I will be keeping my eye on.
Abigail Jansen has just moved back home to Glenwood Falls, Colorado. With her divorce from Dean, a famous hockey player, coming to a close she just wants to start over with her nine year old daughter, Dani. It’s not going to be easy fitting in around her hometown again. All her old friends never left and have almost the perfect lives and she feels like a failure returning ten years later to live with her parents and all with no job. But on the plus side she has left her cheating ex in the rearview mirror. Abigail knows she is going to run into Dean’s best friend, Jackson, sooner rather than later but she would rather it be later since the man has never been kind to her. When Dani tries out for the junior hockey team and makes it she knows that she will be seeing Jackson more, but is Abigail ready to move on and live the life she left behind all over again?
Coming from a hockey family, Jackson Westmore always dreamed of being in the NHL but he never made it. Now he is the coach of junior league hockey and this year they are allowing girls to try out. When Abby’s daughter Dani tries out and makes the team, Jackson knows they have to meet a common ground and get along, but that’s not really the problem. He can remember the day he fell in love with Abby but ever since then he’s been nothing but cold to her, especially when she starting dating his best friend, Dean. Now that she is back in Glenwood Falls and single again he has a second chance to finally tell her how he feels. But when a lifetime opportunity he never expected pops up Jackson wonders if he will have to choose which second chance he will take, because both are what he’s longed for.
I just loved Maybe This Time, it was sweet and everything I love in a romance. Ms. Snow gave the right amount of Jackson and Abby’s backstory which helped their current situation come off as more realistic. I really enjoyed getting little glimpses of what they were like when they were kids and teenagers. I thought Jackson started off a little on the cold side but once the story started to develop I could see how head over heels in love he was with Abby and was shocked on how long he has been feeling this way. Ms. Snow has a talent for creating characters who are intelligent, funny and sexy, while still giving readers an epic story.
There were a few times I wanted to yell at Jackson to get his head out of his ass, but the little process he made from time to time was sweet and showed how bad he really had it for Abby. Abby was a little on the cautious side on getting involved again so soon but I couldn’t blame her, I mean she is in the middle of a divorce, starting her life over and has a daughter to raise. I don’t want to give too much away but there is a scene with Abby and Jackson’s sister, Becky and Becky mentions a third box that Jackson made and wondering where it went. I actually teared up on this part because Jackson was nothing like how Abby saw him and seeing him through different eyes was just one of the most memorable scenes in Maybe This Time.
Maybe This Time was a heartfelt story and already has me yearning for more. We also meet Jackson’s professional hockey player brothers, Ben and Asher, who I am definitely looking forward to getting to know better. I have read a few of Ms. Snow’s other books but by far Maybe This Time is my favorite and I can’t wait for the world to get to know Abby and Jackson. I highly recommend Maybe This Time if you are a lover of second chance romance stories like I am. I think you’ll love it!
