But the powerful feelings growing between them, along with Sebastian’s inner turmoil, take a backseat when they learn there is a traitor lurking among their expedition team. With Elder Races politics and a priceless library on the line, they’ll have to rely on each other to survive the experience. Warning: When a librarian who likes to nest meets an owl Wyr who has always lived for adventure, their romance won’t just be fly-by-night...
Olivia Sutton is a Reference Librarian and a symbologist who loves her job at the Ex Libris library. However, when she is offered a chance to be one of three symbologists allowed to go into one of the oldest magical libraries put together by Carling Severan, a Vampyre sorceress, and to help catalog it and pack it up ready to move, Olivia jumps at the chance. Now it’s time for the expedition, did I mention that the library is on a magical island, and has two very different emotions at once – embarrassment and attraction. Just when you wished you could disappear at will, it never happens.
Sebastian Hale is an Owl Wyr and also the leader of the expedition and head of security. Sebastian owns the company that was hired to make sure that everyone going after the library safely makes the trip to and from the island. He is no novice on leading trips that could be very dangerous and making sure that everyone who leaves, arrives home okay with the mission accomplished. When Sebastian meets Olivia, at first he isn’t sure if she can be trusted – after all she arrived with a Djinn and then he is highly attracted to her.
At first, the trip to the island went smoothly but just as they reach the area, they hit a dangerous snag that could have endangered everyone. Finally, they reached Carling’s old house and Olivia is excited to begin but she is even more looking forward to giving into the attraction between her and Sebastian. The attraction quickly turns into passion and Olivia learns about Sebastian’s greatest challenge and a curse. Just when it looks like the expedition is going to be smooth until they are done, a betrayal happens that endangers Olivia and turns Sebastian into a deadly Wyr when the woman he loves is injured. The greatest challenge is now before Olivia and Sebastian, can they find a way to lift the curse and have the loving future they are dreaming of?
A magical library and a dangerous expedition are all it takes to bring an overwhelming passion into being in The Wicked. Sebastian is the true embodiment of a bad boy and yes he is very wicked, but in such a sexy way. Olivia might have been worried that she was becoming dull but once she took the job from Carling and met Sebastian – dull is the last thing I would ever have called her. I loved watching as Sebastian and Olivia fell for each other and became mates. I can also tell you that I learned to never get an Owl Wyr mad or hurt someone that a Djinn likes because your outcome will not be pleasant. And that goes double when an Oracle wants her way. Sebastian and Olivia’s pathway to love might have been filled with suspense and danger but it was also so gripping that I didn’t want the story to end. The Wicked is a fast paced page-turner full of passion and danger with touches of humor that will have you sighing as the last page is turned. Of course, it’s also Joyfully Recommended from me to you as the latest in Ms. Harrison’s outstanding Elder Races series and one you won’t want to miss.
