In the nineties, Abigale Applegate and Zach Barnes were the most beloved sitcom child stars in the world. Then they grew up and left Hollywood behind… Whatever happened to Abigale Applegate? She’s been wondering the same thing. With her Hollywood dreams long gone, Abigale now has a nice, neat, uncomplicated life—until the day her perfect fiancé needs to talk. Dumped, a little more than shattered, and totally confused, Abigale turns to Zach, her best friend since forever, to help her pick up the pieces. He does it with the gift of a journal. She can vent her frustrations and sketch out a new plan. Zach just hopes he’s part of it. Because he’s been in love with Abigale his entire life. When the journal falls into Zach’s hands, he discovers Abigale wants a new man. And fast. Nothing more than a hot distraction. Zach has a plan of his own: He’s going to be that man. It’s his last chance. Abigale might be out to shake up her life, but Zach’s out to reinvent it. Now, all he has to do is convince Abigale that life can go as planned.
Abigale (“Abby”) Applegate was a child actor who ran from Hollywood and being an actor as soon as she could. Growing up in a series was horrible for Abby with the exception of her co-star Zach. Abby has always just wanted a planned, nice, neat and simple life that included a job she loves, a man she loves and a family to love. Abby thought that she had finally obtained her dreams until she was dumped by her fiancé. Now Abby has no idea what her life and dreams will come to.
Zach Barnes also left Hollywood when Abby did even though his childhood wasn’t as bad her was. Zach turned his back on all that acting had to offer because even as a teenager, he knew exactly what he wanted in his life and that was being with Abby. Being the best friend had Zach watching as Abby attempted to fulfill her plans and it also had Zach supporting her even if seeing her with other men was a knife in his heart every time. Now that Abby’s engagement is over – is it finally time for Zach to make his move?
Abby thought Zach was insane to give her a new journal just at her darkest moments and what a journal it was – encouraging her to wreck it and do insane things. But the night that Abby gives in and comes up with a new plan to wreck her life (see the theme?) is the night that gives her and Zach a chance at a passion that will shine brighter than any Hollywood star. Zach just has to show Abby that all she has dreamed of has been right in front of her all the time. Abby is shocked to discover that she wants her best friend with a fierce passion and at first fights her feelings but when she gives in to Zach and their passion so many doors open for her. Zach and Abby might finally be on the path to love but it sure is filled with a lot of potholes, otherwise known as the people in their lives who can’t leave things alone. Just when Zach believes he has finally gotten the future he always wanted with Abby, events happen that might tear them apart forever.
Two best friends take the steps that will lead them to the brightest and passion filled future in Wrecked. I love how Zach has always protected and backed Abby even when it all but broke his heart. Knowing that the girl turned woman he loved only saw him as a friend proved to me just how deeply he really did love Abby. I couldn’t understand at first how Abby could have missed Zach’s feelings until I saw just how much she depended on him and just didn’t let herself see what was right in front of her. The zaniest journal in the world was the perfect gift for a woman who needed to turn her world right side up and give it a bit of a shake. Watching as Zach showed Abby his true feelings and showed her that loving him wouldn’t take their friendship away but would strengthen it had me turning pages really fast. I also loved that once Abby went with the idea of accepting the passion with Zach, it was with her entire heart and even allowed her to prove to Zach once and for all that her love was just as deep as his and would last forever. Seeing Abby become the light hearted and loving person Zach believed in was as wonderful as seeing Zach finally achieve the love he dreamed of for so many years. Wrecked is full of love, humor and a passion that burns brightly as these two childhood stars find their happy ever after.
I had to Joyfully Recommend Wrecked as a must read and a sure addition to your keeper self or a permanent book on your reader because who wouldn’t want the type of romance and love that Zach gave Abby in their lives?
