Annie Baracas will do whatever it takes to free herself from her spontaneous disaster marriage to Nate Reed. Even if it means pretending to be a happily married couple in the public eye. Easy, right? Wrong! Especially, since Annie has been in denial of her true feelings towards Nate for the past three years.
Nathan Reed knows the prefect way to seek revenge against his estranged wife and catch a notorious thief in the same process. Nate knows that Annie wants a divorce and he will sign the paperwork if she agrees to his terms – temporarily resume the role as his wife and spy on her fellow poker players in order to eliminate a crook from his casino. In the meanwhile, Nate will get to make Annie pay for leaving him three years ago without any explanation before he finally sets her free once and for all.
I found Back in Her Husband’s Bed to be a passable read that I believe could have been a bit more captivating. I guess I wanted Nate’s revenge to be little harsher than it really was. At first, I did not like Annie’s character; however, after her past was disclosed, I gained a better understanding of her behavior and started to like her. On the flipside, I really enjoyed Nate as the hero. His charming, dominant personality captured my attention from the start. I just wished his retaliation plot towards Annie would have been more devilish. I can admit that I was shockingly surprised by the identity of the poker tournament cheater. I never suspected the villain until the revealing. Nevertheless, the overall storyline was not bad and I did want to see how everything would pan out because I do love second chance romances.
