Beck and Call by Emma Holly
Series: The Billionaires #2
Published by Self Published Genres: Contemporary, Erotic
Mia Beck currently works at a PI firm, and her boss was her older brother’s partner until he passed away. Mia just loves her work and her co-workers, especially the sexy Jake, the man who Mia has placed front and center in her day and night dreams. Mia also has a very exceptional and unique skill that is very useful in undercover work. When a new job comes in that gives Mia a chance to work side by side with Jake, she immediately agrees to it: that of a new sub to Jake.
Jake Reed went to work for the PI firm after he left the CIA. His past work and experiences have made Jake very cynical. However, the young, fresh, and beautiful Mia even makes him take a second look. But Jake isn’t sure Mia could handle his need for dominance or his jaded outlook on life, and if she tried, he is worried it might take away all that attracts him. When a new job gives him a chance to put this to the test and still hopefully shield Mia from anything that might harm her, Jake accepts the challenge of both Mia and the job, and as a skilled, long-time dominate.
Damien Call is a mysterious billionaire who seems to have the world in his hands. Damien lets very few people close enough to really discover his thoughts or emotions, both personally and career-wise. Damien has one kink: he loves to watch others get it on, and he fulfills that need by going to very exclusive bdsm clubs. It was here that Damien sees Jake and Mia for the first time, and he takes the bait they offer.
Once Mia and Jake get close to Damien, things don’t seem to add up with what they were told about him when accepting the job. But Jake is determined to find out the truth one way or another, and he uses the skills he has learned over the past years to find out what Damien is keeping secret from others. As their erotic relationship becomes tighter, Mia has trouble accepting the feelings she is getting and giving to Damien knowing that she and Jake have come into his life under deception. All three are torn apart when Mia blurts out the truth to Damien in just wanting to clear the deception between them all. That might have been the end of it, but someone has just kidnapped Mia, and Jake decides to turn to Damien to help rescue her and to see if Damien has been suffering as much as Mia and Jake have. For the rescue of Mia, Jake has pulled in resources from both his past and present in order to get her out safely and to discover who all was behind her kidnapping. The emotions that Mia, Jake, and Damien have been experiencing have been red hot and this further scare might just give them the chance to become the loving trio they almost were. The question is, can all of them find the forgiveness necessary to allow that final and major step that will give Damien, Mia, and Jake a future full of love and erotic passion?
A beautiful woman, a cynical dominate, and a billionaire afraid to let anyone close, all find a passion that will keep them together forever in Beck and Call. I could totally see why Mia immediately agreed to the job and also why Jake thought he could control the job and Mia’s exposure. Yet, I wasn’t surprised when all of that changed when Damien became a true part of the mix. I enjoyed watching as Jake tried to find the truth about the charges against Damien and loved how Mia turned the tables on everyone out of a need to clear the way to the threesome’s budding relationship. My heart went out to Damien as I learned why he looked at all types of relationships as he did. I really loved how when Mia was in danger, Jake took control and gave all three of them a second chance to discover just what they had and how it would grow. Beck and Call is full of erotic pleasure and passion along with suspense and touches of humor. Ms. Holly has once again given us a story that will keep you reading and might give you the need to grab a cold glass of water before it is all over.
