Checking it Twice by Meg Harding
Published by Dreamspinner Press Genres: Contemporary, MM
Winger Eric Belanger is waiting for the day when the NHL calls on him to play in the big leagues. Meanwhile he plays hard on a minor league and spends his off time with his teammates and best friends. Occasionally he feels like he’s going to explode, but it’s too dangerous for the feelings to be satisfied. Eric is positive if anyone even suspected how deeply he’s hiding in the closet he’d never get a chance with the NHL. Only his two buddies know his secret and their eye-opening experience one night can never be repeated.
Corralled into a modeling job with a handful of other players Eric meets model Dorian Carlisle who’s making a name for himself in the business. Out and proud Dorian refuses to hide his sexuality from anyone. At first Eric and Dorian pretend that they are simply friends getting together, but before long what they feel is so much more.
Dorian is a known gay model. The day is bound to come when people figure out the truth. Eric will be forced to make a choice. Hopefully it’s the right one.
Checking It Twice takes a hard look at what matters most in a person’s life – career or love. Hockey player Eric has spent his life working toward a professional goal. The character hits a tipping point in Checking It Twice when love complicates his future. An intriguing, honest look at a hard choice with engaging characters telling the story. Definitely a worthwhile read.
