Separated from her identical twin sister, Sarah, at a young age due to their parents’ divorce, Sue Wanda “Swan” Anderson did not develop a close relationship with her sister until they were almost adults.  Now, at the age of twenty, Sarah is missing due to their mother’s selfish, dangerous behavior and Swan has been drawn into a treacherous game simply because she looks like Sarah.

Miguel “Smoke” Santos has been assigned to keep Swan safe.  After countless days and nights of watching Swan from afar, Smoke has grown to care deeply for her. So, when Swan’s life becomes endangered from her estranged mother’s double-crossing scheme, Smoke will do whatever it takes to protect his woman.

I so detest being on the fence about a book. I am torn between loving and hating Ann Mayburn’s Exquisite Trouble.  Taken as a whole, I am greatly intrigued by the storyline; however, I am not too hot on the main character’s personalities.  There are times whereby I did not like Smoke at all.  While I do understand the ‘Biker’s World’ mentality, I personally thought Smoke to be a bit too extreme.  Yet, I know without a doubt that he loves Swan unconditionally.  Likewise, with Swan’s background, I would have expected her to be more aware of the danger that surrounds her, though she does have some qualities that I find to be adorable.  The sex is naughty and very passionate and the chemistry between Smoke and Swan is explosive.  None the less, I wish that I did not feel so negatively about some parts of the book.
