The Fix Up is my first introduction to Kendall Ryan’s work and saying I was impressed is putting it mildly. Ms. Ryan brings humor and chemistry to her characters that captured me from the first page. When I started The Fix Up I had no idea this was a spin off from her Hitched series but since this is a standalone I really didn’t feel like I missed out on really getting to know Sterling and Camryn.
Sterling Quinn is hot, British and used to his bachelor lifestyle but when his grandfather passes away leaving him an inheritance with one stipulation; in order to get the inheritance he must get married. He doesn’t want to get married but he needs the money to help take care of his sick mother. When his best friends ask Camryn to help him find a wife, he knows it has to be done but Camryn is turning into everything he wants, now he only needs to convince her of that.
Camryn has become friends of sorts with Sterling but trying to stay professional around him and doing her job is becoming harder. He is out to woo her and its starting to show, but once they cross that line can she still be objective in finding him a wife? With the deadline looming Sterling and Camryn have some big choices to make but in the end can they make it work or will they end up hurting one another more?
From the beginning I loved Sterling, sure he came off as a playboy but he wasn’t the dick-ish kind, he was smart, funny and British which I found yummy. Camryn was intelligent, beautiful, and a romantic. She wants the happily ever after and knows that Sterling isn’t that. Both believe they can keep it fun but when Sterling starts to woo her Camryn can’t help falling for his good looks and his charm.
The Fix Up is full of explosive chemistry, hilarious banter and an ending that made my face hurt from grinning so much. I was on pins and needles waiting to find out when and how these two would finally get together and Ms. Ryan delivered. I really did love her voice and how she told Sterling and Camryn’s story. After finishing The Fix Up I am definitely looking forward to reading more stories by Ms. Ryan in the future.
