New York Times bestselling author Jacquelyn Frank continues her scorching and sensual new series set in the world of the Nightwalkers, where alluring entities known as Bodywalkers are the vanguards against the raging forces of darkness. As a mercenary, Leo Alvarez has signed on for a lot—but he never signed on for his best friend becoming host to the soul of an ancient Egyptian pharaoh. Jackson is now inhabited by a Bodywalker, and Leo is forced to grapple with a realm of supernatural beings far more dangerous than anything he’s ever encountered. But when Jackson is wounded by an attack from a demon god, Leo must team up with another supernatural creature—a Night Angel—to save his friend from utter destruction. With skin as black as midnight, hair as white as snow, and a body of pure perfection, the Night Angel arouses a burning desire in Leo, even as he refuses to be intimidated by her power—or the power of those who would destroy his friend. An unusual alliance is forged, electrified by sexual temptation, and together the two must unite their strengths to bring down a supreme evil.Praise for Forsaken “If you loved the original Nightwalker books, you’ll enjoy this.”—USA Today “There’s sizzle, steam and enough action to satisfy even the most ravenous appetite.”—RT Book Reviews “As always, Frank excels in highlighting the lovers’ delight in exploring the strangeness of each other’s bodies, and the heartbreaking tentativeness between Faith and Leo is a delightful break from the grand passions of the Egyptians.”—Publishers Weekly “There’s something to be said when you finish a book and immediately want the next book in the series. [The World of Nightwalkers] is just that kind of series.”—Badass Book Reviews “Only Jacquelyn Frank could take legendary Egyptians, intermix them with evil Templars, add gargoyles and weave it all into an incredible new world that exists right in the middle of unknowing humans.”—Fresh FictionFrom the Paperback edition.
Leo Alvarez is a mercenary who as seen a lot but right now he is struggling with the hardest thing he’s faced – the fact that there are many things in the world that hide in plain sight. The only reason that Leo knows and is even trying to work out this knowledge is because it’s the world his self-proclaimed family lives in. With his best friend and heart brother barely living after a serious attack, Leo agrees to team up with a member of the Nightwalker’s world – a Night Angel named Faith.
Faith agreed to work with Leo to find and get what Jackson needs to live, which might be the easiest part of the mission. Putting up with Leo’s anger and disbelief against her entire world is going to take all the patience that Faith has ever had. However, Faith understands that it’s his deep love for Jackson and his sister that is the foundation of that anger and attitude.
Leo and Faith take off to request aid from an entity that could just as well ignore them as agree to help them. Leo and Faith take on the task that is the price for the help they desperately need and during this Leo begins to understand just who and what the Nightwalkers are and others who exist in that world. What neither Leo nor Faith expected was for a passion to spring up between them and the pain that passion would cause them before their mission was over with. Leo and Faith return to the Nightwalkers’ house after successfully gaining the assistance they sought for Jackson. Several hearts and loves are on the line as everyone waits to see if Jackson can recover – including Leo and Faith’s. Is the trust that Leo and Faith gained enough to bridge their differences and let their love last?
A mercenary and a Night Angel battle to save the life of a man and discover a rich and enduring love before it’s over. Forsaken brings Leo and Faith together in an atmosphere full of anger, mistrust and disbelief only to show them a deep passion that is theirs for the taking if they can reach out together. I really couldn’t take fault at Leo for his anger and mistrust of everyone that has threatened the life of his tiny family. Yet, I was extremely happy to see that Faith was able to show Leo that different didn’t mean horrible and evil. Watching as Leo and Faith save Jackson’s life while struggling with the passion between them had me wondering if a living ending was in the cards for them. When the mission was over, I was positive that Leo and Faith were too because of the gulf between them, yet once again I found that love is the best bridge possible. Forsaken brings suspense, danger and mistrust up against friendship, deep felt trust and love – care to guess which side won the battle between two strong people?
