Teenagers Derek LaVigne and Trevor Ladouceur met on the ice during the World Junior Championship.  Well matched the two achieved an intuitive level of play and spent all their free time together as well.  It was their coach who gave them the label of The Wonder Twins.  On the night they claimed the gold Derek and Trevor slept together.  The next morning Derek woke alone and heartbroken.

Five years later Derek is playing professionally in Los Angeles where hockey isn’t a top sport.  That enables him to live quietly outside the closet.  The pain of Trevor’s harsh dismissal still haunts the few relationships Derek attempts.

Out of the blue he is traded to the Detroit Wheels – Trevor’s team. And he’s going to play in a town absolutely mad for hockey and their players.  Derek will be forced to hide who he is as a man and play alongside the one who broke his heart so long ago.  Somehow Derek has to hide it all and survive.

A daunting, complex relationship is explored in Linemates, where heart and soul are put to the test.  Derek is caught between the proverbial rock and a hard place when his professional skills are at war with his personal life.  It’s a difficult look at the cost of hiding.  Linemates is an emotional, character driven tale of past issues resurrected. Hockey is an integral part of the story but not the focus here by any means.  In the end, Derek is the strongest one of all.
