Fifteen years ago Cooper Nelson graduated from law school and left behind his lover Kelly Freed and their best friend Nina Alexander for a promising career. Eventually Cooper settled in St. Anthony, Idaho where eight years ago an affair with the married DA cost Coop his cherished law degree after his lover committed suicide. He stayed as a penance of sorts and works with horses at the Blue River Ranch.
Perhaps life does come full circle because Kelly Freed and his invalid wife Nina recently became residents in St. Anthony. Kelly’s been hired as a deputy with his eye on campaigning in the upcoming election for the sheriff’s position.
Coop is well aware that his feelings for Kelly never changed, but after all so many years and the ruination of his career he’s not about to start something with another married man. Even when he finds out that Nina purposefully searched for him, Coop tries to steer clear of Kelly. Not for a million dollars would Coop get involved with a closeted gay again. Right.
An angst ridden, broken man finds his redemption at last. The fourth story in the Clouds and Rain series introduces engaging new characters and a whole lot of drama in Moon and Stars. Fans of the series will enjoy a secondary plotline with familiar characters which adds to Coop and Kelly’s love story. Moon and Stars features a broody, moving romance that weathers the test of time.
