An eleventh-century lass with a stubborn streak unleashes the red-hot hero inside her modern lover in bestselling author Janet Chapman’s irresistible new Midnight Bay adventure. Trace Huntsman’s peaceful life has headed to hell in a hand-basket ever since stunningly beautiful Fiona Gregor moved into the vacant apartment above his house. Kidnapped centuries earlier and transformed into a red-tail hawk, Fiona is human once more and must learn how to be a modern woman. But damned if Trace is going to be the one to teach her. Not when her mere presence ignites a fiery passion deep within his cautious heart. Fiona longs to overcome the painful memories of her tragic past—to let down her guard and become a mother again. But so far her handsome landlord is not exactly thrilled with the stray animals—and suitors—that keep following her home. When the wizard Maximilian Oceanus shows up, Trace reaches the end of his rope. Weird things happen when Mac is around—raging storms, snarling demons—but this time, Midnight Bay is at the center of a fierce battle, and Fiona is the primary target. Only Trace can save her, but first, the lovers must set aside their fears . . . and open up their hearts.
Fiona Gregor has spent several hundred years as a red-tailed hawk. Since her transformation back into a her human body Fiona has been scared to death. She has been hiding behind her brothers and their families. It is very natural for her to be scared; in her first life as a human she was horribly brutalized. Now Fiona is very frightened of men. In a bid to get Fiona to open up to her new world her brother’s drop her into the lap of the safe and sexy Trace Huntsman.
Trace would never have rented his apartment if he knew the tenant was going to be Fiona. All Trace wants is to live a peaceful life fishing by day and relaxing by night. The last thing he needs is for his only temptation to move in. Fiona is stunningly beautiful, she stirs his blood like no other but she needs to be treated with kid gloves and he’s not capable of that. Trace has no interest in settling down and starting a family.
Thrust together Fiona and Trace learn how to maneuver their new lives. As the sexual tension builds Fiona and Trace must reevaluate their life goals. Is starting something between them worth the risk? Danger stalks the shores of Midnight Bay will Fiona and Trace get caught in a war they cannot survive?
Mystical Warrior spotlights a beautiful romance filled with strong emotion, passion and plenty of humor. I could not wait to read Fiona’s story and I was definitely not disappointed. Fiona is such a wounded character but strong at the same time. In certain ways Fiona and Trace are the same. They are both trying to get over their pasts which make them the perfect balm for each other’s soul. I loved revisiting all the characters from the previous Midnight Bay novels. It was great to find out more about the mysterious Mac. I just adore Misneach, Fiona’s dog. The name means courage in Gaelic and I think he is a perfect addiction to the series. Mystical Warrior is simply a really good story! It has funny bits, romantic bits and even suspenseful bits everything you could possibly want in an exciting story. I absolutely will be taking the next train to Midnight Bay that comes along because I know I’m going to be entertained!
