With the economy in the toilet construction jobs are few and far between in the small town where Garrett Ducaine is raising his teenage brother. Worrying about which bills he can afford to pay each month Garrett swallows his pride and takes a job as a prostitute at nearby Chicken Ranch.
The moment Miller Jacobs is able to leave for college and then a career in D.C. he’s out the door. The only thing Miller regrets is that Garret is unable to leave as well.
Called home when his beloved grandmother passes, Miller and Garrett cannot deny the spark is still there when they meet up again. Love however, doesn’t change the fact that Miller will be leaving or that Garrett’s unsavory job supports him and his brother. They are older and a little wiser so maybe this time they can figure out a future together. Someone apparently doesn’t want them to start over after a call from Child Services sends Garrett into a panic. Asking Garrett to choose between his lover and his brother is an impossible situation.
Grit, drama, and a never forgotten love are at the heart of the second Chicken Ranch story. Recession forces Garrett into a life that’s slowly chipping away at his soul. The return of Miller changes everything. The characters feel real, their love, problems and their sense of family and responsibility. A heartwarming romance with a feel good ending, Recession delivers.
