Rune Ainissesthai is gryphon, a Wyr sentinel, and he is also the First for the Lord of Wry, Dragos Cuelebre. In order to save a good friend and a fellow sentinel, Rune agreed to an unknown favor of Carling in the heat of the moment. Now Rune is back home and has just gotten word that his time to repay the favor is now. Rune has been given leave from Dragos and is now headed to California to see what he agreed to.
Carling Severan is a Vampire Sorceress, who also happens to be the Vampire Queen. Carling has been ruling the vampires for quite a long time, but for a while she has been dealing with a severe problem. One that could risk all she loves and that is why she called Rune. However, Carling’s temper wasted that favor before it was even asked. Good thing for her that Rune has decided he isn’t ready to leave Carling or her island yet.
Rune realized after meeting Carling again why he would agree to an unknown favor from someone that powerful – he was more than attracted to her. Learning that death was beckoning Carling had Rune deciding to make sure death never won while he was around. In a world there only the powerful ruled and survived, Rune and Carling will have to battle friends and foe alike to save Carling’s life and their love.
A Gryphon Sentinel and a Vampire Queen find a love that will defy all odds in Serpent’s Kiss. There was so much I wanted to say above but all of this seemed like too much, so I will just say you must read Rune and Carling’s adventures to understand all they go through to keep the love they find. I have to say I was shocked a few times by the things they had to go through, both together and individually. Rune and Carling might not have been a couple I would have picked but they proved that they were meant to be by the time I turned the last page. Serpent’s Kiss has everything I love in a novel, passion, deep love that is mixed up with humor and suspense to keep me on my toes.
I can’t wait to see the next chapter in the Elder Races series. After you read about Rune and Carling, I have a feeling you will be waiting right along with me.
