Sawyer Bennett has to be one of my favorite authors to read, she writes so many different series and each one I love for many different reasons. When I saw Sexy Lies and Rock & Roll up for review I knew I wanted to read it right away even though I try to stay far away from rock star romances.
Emma Peterson is working a job she hates but as her father got her the job at Knight & Payne she is going through the motions until she can find her dream job in contract law since it’s what she is good at. When Midge Payne asks Emma to take a case involving her nephew Emma is hesitant because she doesn’t know much about criminal law but to her surprise her boring life is about to get more interesting as she’s representing the newly famous Evan Scott.
Evan Scott went indie a year ago and while he enjoys the hook ups and partying it all comes with a price. When brought in for questioning on a homicide he calls his aunt Midge for help but when prim and proper Emma enters the room he doesn’t feel as if she can handle the case, after all she won’t even look him in the eye. But after firing her and rehiring her in the short span they are together there is something about Emma that has Evan wanting to know her better, but can their new found love survive the road?
As soon as Sexy Lies and Rock & Roll hit my kindle I had to dive right in and I’m so glad I didn’t wait. It was everything I thought it would be and more. One of things that jumped right out at me was Sexy Lies and Rock & Roll was done in dual povs which was a total plus for me. I always like getting into the characters minds to find out what they are thinking and feeling during the situations that arise.
I don’t want to give too much away but after the first interaction between Emma and Evan there is nothing for five whole weeks which bothered me just a little but when Evan shows up again looking for a lawyer and a PR rep Emma is the one he wants. He offers her the job and when she declines Evan says that if she handles what he is asking he will make sure she gets her dream job. I loved the surprises that Evan threw at Emma and how he really pushed her out of her comfort zone not only with the law but also in the bedroom.
Emma and Evan were such a cute couple even though they were both so different from one another. Evan was confident while Emma wasn’t but it worked for this couple. Little by little I could start to see the changes in Emma and thought Evan was a really good fit for her in the long run. Another thing I really liked about Sexy Lies and Rock & Roll was that some of the characters from Friction were either mentioned or made an appearance and since it’s been a while since I read Friction I do remember now that Emma was mentioned but I was so sure she was going to end up with Ford but I’m glad Ms. Bennett didn’t let that happen.
Sexy Lies and Rock & Roll is an addicting read with amazingly written characters that jump off the pages. Ms. Bennett truly out did herself in bringing Emma and Evan not only together but showing that true love conquers all. If you’re a fan of confident and swoon worthy heroes you don’t want to miss how the famous Evan Scott wins the hearts of not only his fans but the woman he loves.
