Rock star Noah Holden is excited to be getting back into the business with his bandmates. The bands success with icon Nick Blackthorne is known across the world. Now that they are looking to hit the road again they need a new lead singer. Since taking a break Noah’s ADHD has been out of control and he hopes making music his number one priority once again will help. However, it appears a sultry songstress may have the cure for all that ails him. Waitress, Pepper Kerrigan, overhears the famous Noah Holden talking with his bandmates about a reunion tour. She wants to try out and challenges Noah to a game of music trivia for the right.
Pepper drives Noah wild with her music knowledge and sultry voice. It becomes impossible for them to ignore the intense attraction between them. When the past comes back to haunt them will they be able to hold on to each other?
Steady Beat is sexy and fun. Although part of the Heart of Fame series, it can be read as a stand-alone. Noah and Pepper have great chemistry from page one. Their round of music trivia is so hot. Although I enjoyed most of the novel, I felt like one plot device was a little obvious but it was Peppers actions that befuddled me the most. Spoiler Alert… I had trouble understanding how she could want something so badly and then seem to discover she was too afraid to do it. I don’t discount this actually happening but it seemed unlikely for someone so in love with music to react in this manner. While I still love the Heart of Fame series, Steady Beat wasn’t my favorite.
