New York Times bestselling author Lynsay Sands, one of paranormal romance's original superstars, delivers a scorching and delightful story of a mortal man on a mission—and the Vamp who is his only hope. One late night leads to . . .Kidnapped! When Jeanne Louise Argeneau left work, she never thought she'd end up tied down by a good-looking mortal. More attracted than annoyed, she quickly realizes there is more to her abductor than meets the eye.One desperate act leads to . . .Love? Paul Jones has need of a vampire, and only Jeanne Louise will do. He just has to convince this beauty of a Vamp to help him . . . never imagining that he would fall in love. But with the immortal world's answer to law enforcement hunting them, their time together is running out . . . and Paul and Jeanne Louise will need to risk everything to spend an eternity together.
Jeanne Louise Argeneau is a scientist working on a way to help family members Victor and Vincent’s with their genetic problems. She is normally nose to the grindstone and is having a pretty normal and ho-hum day for her when suddenly she wakes up and realizes that she was kidnapped on the way home. She is stunned that anyone would attempt to kidnap a vampire and is even more stunned when she realizes who took her and why. At first Jeanne Louise isn’t in any mood to be reasonable, then she senses something that she never expected after so many years, her kidnapper is also her mate and it’s his daughter’s life at stake. Now what is a smart, sensible vampire to do?
Paul Jones has worked in the same department with Jeanne Louise for years now and he has been attracted to her, but has never tried to talk to her. Now Paul is very desperate and hopes that Jeanne Louise will agree to his proposition before it’s too late. Paul doesn’t want anything for himself, but for the daughter he loves and is losing. At first, Paul just wanted to give Jeanne Louise his proposal and hope she would agree once she got to know why Paul had taken such drastic actions. Now, he just isn’t sure because his attraction to Jeanne Louise is getting stronger and he might mess that up if he presents the reason why he took her.
Jeanne Louise knows exactly why Paul took her and now that she knows that Paul is her mate and has met the lovely Livy, Jeanne Louise is helping with her own kidnapping. She knows very well just how her family will react once they realize she has been taken and they won’t care that she is on Paul’s side now. Time is not on Paul and Jeanne Louise’s side and now they are on the run from her family. Jeanne Louise has figured out a way for her to have Paul as her lifelong mate and to save his daughter, but she has to figure out a way to tell Paul and they have to have the time to carry it all out. However, when the enforcers find them, accidents happen and events just might take Jeanne Louise and Paul’s forever away from them. The love that had developed between Jeanne Louise and Paul is what took them on the run and will that love be strong enough to survive when all their hopes come tumbling down – or is there even another option that no one had thought of yet?
The love of a parent will make you do things never otherwise considered, but will the love of life mates be enough to overcome deadly mishaps and give those mates their happy ever after? Jeanne Louise and Paul will just have to find out in The Lady is a Vamp. I could understand exactly why Paul took the actions that he did and I was thrilled when Jeanne Louise started working with him to save his daughter. Just when I thought everything would be okay, of course, chaos had to strike and events threatened Jeanne Louise and Paul’s future. I really thought that there would never be the happy ending that Jeanne Louise and Paul deserved, when the solution came from a totally unexpected person and a tricky reading of the rules governing the vampires gave Paul, Jeanne Louise and Livy their happy ending. I really had to laugh when the path that would lead to this event was laid out and by whom it was laid out by. It was love that had Paul take Jeanne Louise in the first place and love that had Jeanne Louise helping and finally it was a totally different type of love that tied everything together and gave Jeanne Louise and Paul their future together. The Lady is a Vamp is filled with angst, humor and passion – just what I have come to expect from an Argeneau novel.
