“A powerful witch might live a long time, but a single well-placed bullet could change that. While my preferred weapon was magic, I was not averse to shooting anyone or anything offering my sister or me harm.” Ex-soldier and earth witch Nyx Ianira is working as a PI in San Francisco when she sees the last thing she ever wants to see: the Sisters of Justice—the mysterious earth witch police force. A Triad of Sisters usually means an execution mission, but the Sisters’ only goal is to capture and escort Nyx across the country. Nyx is badly needed back in Twitch Crossing, Georgia, the place she ran away from ten years ago to escape the stiff rules and duties of being a true witch. She wanted a life of her own. Now she’s being dragged back to her swampy hometown because another life is in danger: Her little sister is missing, and Nyx is the only one who can track her down in Duivel, Missouri. But the key to finding her may lie with dark and tempting Etienne—a sinister criminal with a fearsome reputation, a ruthless attitude, and a total immunity to magic....

Nyx Ianira left her coven and home years ago for very good reasons.  Now she is a busy PI in San Francisco who uses her gifts as an earth witch to help others.  But that all changes when she sees the Sisters of Justice one day and learns that they are after her. Nyx can’t think of anything she has done that would put the Sisters on her – since that is usually a death sentence to the witch they are looking for.  When Nyx is finally captured, it’s to learn that they are only taking her back home.  The why becomes clear – her sister is missing and only Nyx will be able to track her down.

Nyx heads to Duivel, Missouri to find her sister and to kick some ass if necessary to free her.  What Nyx finds is a mosh pit of paranormals and humans both on the good and bad side of legality and Mother Earth.  One of the people Nyx meets is a darkly sexy man named Etienne, certainly a criminal and yet Nyx soon discovers there is plenty of good in Etienne also.  There are plenty of others in this strange and deadly town who could lead to the answers that Nyx needs to find her sister.  Strangely enough, the very woman who called for help is acting the strangest towards Nyx.  The path to finding and saving her sister leads Nyx and Etienne into dangerous and deadly experiences.   Will Nyx find all the answers and trust the right people in time to save her sister and will Etienne be on her side when it’s over or was he really one of the bad guys after all?

Take one torked off earth witch on a mission to save her little sister and throw in a really messed up town full of many kinds of paranormals and people who just don’t play well together and you have the plot line of Vicious Moon.  I immediately knew that no one was going to stop Nyx on her mission without serious injury to her and my money was on Nyx from the beginning.  I was amazed at just how many different types of paranormals and humans had gathered in such a small area.  When Nyx and Etienne met, I knew it would either end up with them together or they would probably kill each other.  I didn’t see any in between.

I enjoyed matching up the clues with Nyx and was continually amazed at the various road blocks and danger that Nyx faced, but I always knew that she would save her sister and maybe just find a love she hadn’t been looking for.  I was right in some cases and wrong in others.  I was most amazed by the last answer that Nyx found and probably as stunned as she was at it.  Vicious Moon is packed full of paranormal action and deadly danger with some hot passion thrown in.
