New York Times bestselling author Beth Kery’s blistering new novel of a man and woman bound by the scandalous secrets of the past—and by the sexual hunger that still fuels their uncontrollable desires... When I’m With You, Part VIII When We Are One In the luxury of Ian’s penthouse, he, Francesca, Lucien and Elise gather for an evening that begins in pleasure and ends in a shattering confrontation—one that finally reveals the secrets of Lucien’s past. And, at Elise’s impulsive urging, the bitter truth that Lucien has hidden for so long is finally exposed. But the reality is more soul tearing than Elise imagined—leaving her with the guilt that she pushed the man she loves too far. When both Lucien and Ian go to London, Elise is left in self-doubt. Surely Lucien is furious at her for tipping his hand so impetuously—it has been his greatest fear since he met her. With a heavy heart, Elise makes a heartrending decision for both of them. But Lucien has one more reveal for Elise, one that could make or break a relationship that has consumed the both of them. One that could change their futures forever.
Elise and Lucien go to Ian and Francesca’s for good food with good friends, but things take a drastic turn when Ian reveals a secret and Lucien reveals even bigger ones. Elise blames herself for blurting things out. Will this misunderstanding cost them everything?
The final installment of the When I’m With You series is yet another turning point in Lucien and Elise’s relationship. Romantically, When We Are One has everything, including angst and poignancy. Their relationship has come full circle, but it was a roller coaster along the way, full of ups and downs, in and out of bed. Elise finds happiness with Lucien, and while he does with her as well, his ending is a little unsettled. He’s discovered information about his past, but will he seek answers? And will Ian do the same? I love the intensity of the When I’m With You series—mainly the dynamics between Elise and Lucien. Each installment makes the next even better. Questions remain, and outcomes are open, though. I’m looking forward to reading more about Francesca and Ian in Because We Belong. I didn’t get enough of them in this series or in Because You Are Mine. And while Elise and Lucien’s story could be complete, I’d love to continue reading about them as well. When I’m With You is the perfect combination of erotic romance BDSM.
