The fate of millions of lives hangs in the balance in this new Psy-Changeling Trinity novel from New York Times bestselling author Nalini Singh…

Kidnapped as a young girl, her psychic powers harnessed by a madman, Memory lives a caged and isolated existence…until she comes face-to-face with a wolf. Labelled an empath by her bad-tempered rescuer, Memory knows that her ‘gift’ is nothing so bright. It is a terrible darkness that means she will always be hunted.

But Memory is free now and she intends to live. A certain growly wolf can just deal with it.

Alexei prefers to keep his packmates at bay, the bleak history of his family a constant reminder that mating, love, hope is not for him. But Memory, this defiant and fearless woman who stands toe-to-toe with him awakens the most primal part of his nature—and soon, he must make a choice: risk everything or lose Memory to a murderous darkness that wants to annihilate her from existence…

Alexei Vasiliey Harte is one of the Snow Dancer Lieutenants. Once a lighthearted person, his entire personality underwent a change when his brother went rouge and had to be killed.  Now Alexei waits for what he believes the next part of a family curse will be.  One day he heard a sound in the woods so sad and painful and follows it to find the source. Alexei can tell that whoever is projecting this sound is powerful and deeply in pain and grief.  What he doesn’t expect to find is a young woman Psy caged in Snow Dancer land.  Memory Aven-Rose watched as a madman killed her mother and then kidnapped her and has held Memory ever since.  What Memory didn’t understand until she got older was why this happened.  Memory’s only joy growing up as a captive has been a pet, which just died after many years of companionship. Her pain and grief is so huge she can’t hold it in and lets it out into the world.  When Alexei suddenly shows up in her “home” Memory can only deal with her grief at first.

Alexei quickly learns what made Memory so special and is determined to help her fully escape the madman who kidnapped her so long ago and to learn about her gift.  Memory struggles to accept just what her Psy gift is with Alexei’s help and those others with her type of gift.  The real struggle at least for Alexei is that his wolf knows exactly who Memory is to them and Alexei is fighting it believing he doesn’t get a chance at a true loving future.  As Alexei and Memory work together to free her from the darkness of her childhood and to learn just where she fits in her designation, they are also falling deeply in love.  When all the answers are found, it seems truly freeing Memory is going to be easier than Alexei overcoming his fear of what his future will be.  Can Memory’s love and the love and support of his pack help Alexei step into the golden love just waiting for him?

Wolf Raingives Alexei not only his mate, but the faith to believe he has a future with his mate.  Wow, what a journey Memory and Alexei have before they can just be together.  Their attraction is there from the first and the passion soon follows.  I absolutely loved how they fought together and for each other when needed.  I also loved how we saw both sides of being an E-Psy.  All creation has a light and dark side, so I was happy to see the dark side of them also and how they still helped ease the mind.  I always wondered what type of mate Alexei would end up with and Memory more than meets my expectations on just who Alexei needed.  Wolf Rainhas shot up to one of my favorite Psy-Changeling books.  There is so much going on that makes it a rich and multilayered story.  I just have to Joyfully Recommend it as a must read.
