It is a somewhat strange life Damien de Marco leads after learning of vampires, Blood kin, wizards, and more.  Running a successful shoemaker’s shop in Port Adelaide, Damien deals with these other beings on a regular basis.

Sanctuary is granted to Raxon, a disgraced draconis who cannot go home.  The metal sculptor opens a shop down the street from the shoemaker, supposedly to make a new start.  The draconis however is playing a very dangerous game.  Raxon is secretly spying on the Port Adelaide Circle, headed by Sebastian de Seville, the blood lord vampire and his changeling mate Matt.

Meeting Damien for the first time the draconis isn’t certain what to do with the human’s flirting or how to deal with it. Unfortunately for Raxon the more he spends time with Damien the more confused and aroused he becomes.  Maybe going home isn’t the best thing for an outcast draconis.

A rough romance is the least of the difficulties in Dragon with the Boy Tattoo, book eight in the Monsters inK series.  Raxon doesn’t have a clue when Damien shows interest.  The draconis is completely out of his depth.  The romance is at the center of this plotline, but there is also spying, lies, and treachery to deal with.  Raxon and Damien’s love story is enjoyable to observe, however readers should read this series in order to fully understand what’s going on with the secondary Monster inK plotline.  Start at the beginning and embrace the characters in Dragon with the Boy Tattoo, preferably in order.

Fighting the fire in Adelaide National Park is becoming a losing battle.  People have managed to flee in time, but fire fighter Ben O’Reilly is heartbroken to find animals weren’t so lucky when they were left behind.

As his crew is trying to outrun a particularly nasty patch of the blaze Ben spots a horse trapped and jumps off the back of the rig to free the terrified animal and several others he comes across.  Realizing he won’t get ahead of the flames Ben is about to make peace with his life when a winged dragon takes him into the sky.  Either he’s on his way to heaven or hallucinating, right?  Because winged dragons can’t be real.

The Angel in Yellow unites a selfless fire fighter with the magical being of his dreams. Ben is a genuine hero, the real deal which gives some special people the hope that he can keep a monumental secret in this sweet little story.  A nice first meeting indeed.

Twenty years ago the Voltans went to war when they discovered the human race, a race that refused to bow down to them.  The war rages on.

Weary after months of space trading on the rim, Devin, a Voltan is ready for some downtime.  Paying for a sexmate from the Pleasure Dome should take care of Devin’s immediate concerns.  The sexmate they send over however is not what Devin is expecting.  He’s filthy and starving and human.

Devin prefers to trade on the rim and avoid the war on the other side of the galaxy.  Now it has come directly to him in the form of a human star ship officer sold into slavery by the Voltans and desperate to get home any way he can.

Whether at cross-purposes or Star Crossed, Devin and the human fight against their unusual fate as hard as possible.  War is never pretty and these two learn the price their people are paying at the hands of propaganda and lies.  The romantic aspect of Star Crossed is only hinted at whereas their struggle to communicate and listen to each other comes across more strongly.  Fascinating though don’t go looking for hearts and flowers.
