Warriors of the RiftOnce a generation, the rift between the paranormal world and the human world opens, allowing supernatural entities to cross. Vampire, demon, or shapeshifter, they can save the world-or send it spiraling into chaos. The next opening of the rift is coming-and its consequences will be deadly. A rogue group of human-hating preternaturals is planning an apocalyptic attack, but the Council of Preternaturals may have found the key to saving the world: Keira O'Brien, a fey with a long criminal record, whose empathic abilities once made her the queen of con artists. If she successfully infiltrates the dangerous faction, the sins of her past will be forgiven.Keira isn't the only agent working against the rogue prets. Finn Evnissyen, a powerful demon with a dark lineage, is a hired assassin looking for a way out. If he stops the threat, he will finally earn his freedom. As the rift fast approaches, and danger escalates, Finn and Keira must discover if they're on the same side-or sleeping with the enemy . . .
Finn Evnissyen is a demon who has been an enforcer for his father for many, many years and finally he has a way to leave that job. All he has to do is find out who is behind the group of preternaturals, who not only hate humans, but also are planning on helping others into the earth realm during the next rift and to show the humans just who rule the world now. Not much, just do this small job in a short amount of time because the rift is due very soon. Finn is leaving no stone unturned as he seeks a way into the every exclusive group and he might have just found it.
Keira O’Brien is a fey who was forced into the earth realm for a crime. At first Keira had to resort to her con background to live but for awhile now she has been attempting to live just a normal life and hopefully to never have to be a criminal again. However, that all changes when one of the Council of the Preternaturals blackmails her into getting into the human hating group and discovering who is behind the group and what their actual plans are. Keira has no choice but to agree to the terms presented to her.
Keira and Finn have an attraction between them, but with both of them on a secret job there really is no time to act on it. But both are hoping to when their jobs are over. Imagine their surprise to discover each other at a meeting of the group and that both of them are singled out by the head representative. But they have to prove their allegiance before trust will happen; Keira through more theft and Finn through death. Now both Finn and Keira are working not only to find the answers that they seek, but to also save the other from being dragged down into what they know is a very nasty group that could lead to their death. Their attraction has turned into passion and neither know if they are sleeping with a future mate or a future enemy. It’s time for the rift and both Keira and Finn know that they are going to have to trust each other to save the humans from a fate much worse than death. The questions, are they fighting on the same side or against each other and can their love survive this final showdown?
Preternaturals live amongst the humans and two are racing the clock to find the answers needed to save those humans from an apocalypse they could never dream of and find a love they both dreamed of at the same time. Finn and Keira find passion and a way to defeat those out to harm the humans in Heart of the Demon. From the very first, I wanted both Finn and Keira to succeed in the mission so that they could finally be free. Of course, I loved the fact that they were so attracted to each other and were trying to save the other while not letting out exactly what they were working on. Watching as both Finn and Keira worked around the danger and finally teamed up towards their goal put such a depth to their love. I enjoyed just how sneaky Finn was in not only proving himself to the group but in also keeping Keira safe and protected. I had to cheer when all the bad guys were taken care of and Keira and Finn could finally explore just where their passion would lead them. Heart of the Demon definitely proves that not all demons are the same and that love can work wonders when given a chance.
