Kit Colbana is recovering from being kidnapped at Wolf Haven, but she knows that no matter what it appears on the outside, inside she is broken.  As a thief, assassin and PI, Kit has always had her blades at her beck and call – now that voice is silenced.  Kit is also missing the one person that she thought she could depend on no matter what – Damon, the alpha wolf who barged into her heart.

When Kit is forced to face more of her life before the kidnapping, she finds that many people are trying to help her recover the old Kit.  Damon most especially.  Kit soon learns that Damon had not step away from her like she was told, but while the passion between them is as hot as it always was Kit isn’t sure she can step back into that relationship until she can find her new balance.  Damon has more than shown her that he wants her back – any time and any place.

Kit ends up taking a new PI job to locate something that has been supposedly stolen and return it to its owner.  However, there is something slightly off with the owner that hires her.  When Kit discovers the real identity of her client, it only leads to more questions – like why can’t this powerful person locate and retrieve the item herself.  As Kit seeks out the truth of the item, she begins to have doubts on if her client should really have the item back or not.  The job turns deadly just when Kit learns the location of the item and has to make a decision on what to do about it.  Friends are lost and abilities are found when the final battle happens.  Kit is both saddened and empowered by the outcome of this battle.  She might not be like who she was but just maybe she is on the road to finding her new normal and finding her way back into Damon’s arms.

A feisty woman fights to get her life back and to regain the loving relationship she was just beginning to depend on when it was torn away in Broken Blade.  Kit feels like she has fallen below bottom as she digs her way back to the life she had and loved.  Damon, her alpha wolf lover, has proven that he not only never walked away from her but will fight anyone and anything to have her back.  Watching as Kit struggled to face the new truth about her abilities and all the pain which has come forward and then fight to get back everything that she could, had me hoping for her as each page was turned.  I loved how she not only gained her spunk and feistiness back but also proved that she could still do her job with the same efficiency.  I also had to give Damon major kudos when it became clear that he not only searched for Kit when she was gone but would do anything to get her back.  I loved how he also proved just how well he really did know Kit.  When the book ended, I could tell that Kit was back on the road to regaining what she had lost.  Now I only hope that she will find a way to regain the song that has been taken from her along with her passion for Damon.  Broken Blade begins bittersweet but turns into an action pack and fast paced journey as Kit proves she might be broken but she certainly isn’t down and out.

Kit Colbana faces life with determination and sass.  As a half-breed, she has been an assassin, a thief and several other things during her life and now she is a PI.  Kit will usually take on jobs that no one else will touch.  A new assignment has walked in her door, one that Kit is not able to say no to – to track down and bring home the ward of one of the local shapeshifter alphas or die.

What looked like an easy job has unexpected complications and one of them is the shapeshifter named Damon who has been assigned to shadow her.  Kit might have been tricked into accepting this assignment but she has a weakness for kids and would have taken it anyway. Now she has a hunky shifter following her that Kit isn’t sure will help her or help do her in.  Clues begin to show Kit that this is not a simple runaway as she was lead to believe and even worse, it is beginning to appear that something deadly is happening paranormal children and teens.  Kit’s attention is also being divided due to an attraction that is developing between her and Damon, who also seems to be more than advertised.  Kit is determined to not only complete her job but to also free any other kids she finds and to bag the people behind the atrocities that Kit has uncovered.

When you have a job that no one in their sane mind will take, who do you contact but a sassy half breed assassin turned PI, which is what happened in Blade Song.  I could tell that a lot of Kit’s bravo was masking fears but it never stopped her from doing whatever she knew needed to be done.  When Damon showed up, I wondered if Kit would kiss him or kill him before it was over.  I loved how Kit used everything, all contacts and every viable angle and a few unviable angles, to find the leads she needed to get the taken kids.  Watching Kit gain a pseudo family and then a sexy and protective lover had me smiling for her. I had no doubt that Kit would not only complete the job, but also would go beyond and destroy the ring she located and she definitely did that.  I can tell already that I will love Kit as this series goes on.  I’m still not sure about Damon but I’m ready to give him a chance also.  Blade Song is full of action from the first page until the last page and also full of unexpected twists and turns and just a touch of passion.  A great leading book to a series I’m looking forward to following.
