Lady Pandora Ravenel doesn’t wish to be like other ladies of the ton.  Pandora would prefer to make a name and a go at her board game business, making her own money, and not being dependent on a man.  She wishes to work!

Gabriel, Lord St. Vincent, is a rake that every debutante would like to ensnare, however he has managed to avoid that trap until he stumbles upon Pandora.  After “compromising” Pandora, Gabriel is forced to offer for her, but her family isn’t the typical family of the times, and she is allowed to make a choice. Gabriel must pull out the stops to ensnare Pandora or let her walk away.

Devil in Spring was a sweet story with a bit of suspense tossed in towards the end.  I really enjoyed Gabriel, but I couldn’t quite understand Pandora’s originality in the context of the tale.  It seemed that Devil in Spring took a contemporary female protagonist and mixed her up with a historical male figure.  I felt that some things could’ve been fleshed out a bit more in Devil in Spring, as well.  Pandora was a likeable character, but Gabriel was the best part of Devil in Spring, however his proclivities could have stood a bit more exploration, maybe more showing and less telling.  The supporting characters lend a bit more to the story, but some weren’t too deep and could’ve been more rounded in Devil in Spring.  In the end, Devil in Spring, is a cute light romance to cut your teeth on, but one would expect a bit more from such a seasoned writer as Lisa Kleypas.

Before I say anything about the storyline let me get this out of the way *SQUEAL!!!!!* A new historical romance from Lisa Kleypas!!!!!!!!!

Rhys Winterborne has money and success. He can pretty much have whatever he wants. That is, until he meets Lady Helen Ravenel. She’s everything Rhy’s isn’t, shy, innocent and he’s determined to do whatever it takes to possess her. Even if that means compromising her to ensure she marries him. Helen knows that Rhys is beyond anything she’s experienced before. But that doesn’t stop her from falling for him.  But when unexpected issues from the past come back and try to come against them can they survive and have a future together?

When I first saw that Lisa Kleypas had a new historical available, I was so excited. I’ve loved her Travis series but have to admit I have missed reading her historicals. I wasn’t disappointed! Marrying Winterborne is everything that I have come to expect and love from Lisa Kleypas. Enthralling and sexy, this one will definitely be re-read many times!!

Series: Travis #4
Published by St. Martin's Press Genres: Contemporary

As a wedding planner Avery Crosslin deals with love and forever every day. That doesn’t mean she thinks that it exists for her. When a chance meeting with Joe Travis at a wedding evolves into a passionate night she finds that for Joe, one night is not enough. Joe Travis knows he wants more from Avery and completely understands that she has been hurt in the past. However that’s not going to stop him from making a passionate night, a passionate relationship. Can Avery put the past behind her and let Joe in?

I love the Travis family. I’ve been in love with them ever since Lisa Kleypas gave us Sugar Daddy. I’ve been waiting oh so impatiently for Joe’s story and he’s finally here. With Brown-Eyed Girl everything I’ve been waiting for was delivered. I knew that Joe had to have someone special and Avery is just that person. I wanted to shake her while at the same time I wanted Joe to understand her insecurity and love her anyway. While Jack Travis of Smooth Talking Stranger will always be my favorite Travis, Joe has seriously turned my head. Ok, who can really choose!!? Brown-Eyed Girl is on my list of books that must be re-read again and again!  I can’t recommend it highly enough!
