Silver Mercant has a full card with her dual jobs of being the director of the Emergency Response Network known as EmNet and as the senior aid to Kaleb Krychek.  She really doesn’t have time the for bear who keeps asking her for an ice cream date.  Yet, when an assassination attempt is made on Silver, it is that same bear who not only saves her life, but finds the way the attempt was made.  When it’s time for Silver to “disappear” from the public eye for a while, it’s just her luck that the place she is sent is to the very home of her persistent bear suitor.

Valentin Nikolaev is the Alpha of the StoneWater bear clan in Russia and while he has the same overall attitude as most bears, when it comes to protection for those under his care or those he loves (sometimes one and the same), there is no doubt about why Valentin is the Alpha.  Valentin has been attracted to Silver since he first saw her, and he is determined to show her that they could be an item if she would only give it a chance.  All Silver’s constant refusals do is fuel his determination.  When Silver is moved into the StoneWater clan home, Valentin knows he will never have a better chance to prove to Silver his love and how they belong together.

Silver starts out as just mystified by how the bears live and go through their day-to-day activities, but as she is exposed to life in the clan and sees Valentin in action, it becomes harder and harder to stick with her silent leanings.  Valentin is even amazed at how good he and Silver are once she gives their attraction a chance to become love.  What Valentin never expected is a fight that Silver has kept secret and how her feelings have become a danger to her.  So as Silver and Valentin hunt the person or people behind her attack, all while exploring the love that has sprung up between them, they both are working on figuring out a way to solve the worst danger of all to Sliver and their love.  When Valentin convinces Silver to go for an all or nothing cure, it’s with the knowledge that he may lose his mate forever to silence or death.  The question is, can Silver and Valentin have their forever after or will their future die before they ever get the chance to reach for it?

Take one pushy and laid-back bear Alpha and one efficient and silent woman, throw in equal parts of danger, adorable bears and a passion that quickly turns to love, and you have just a bit of an idea of what Silver Silence is all about.  I quickly grew to love Valentin and saw just as fast on why, if anyone, could drag Silver out of her silence, it was him.  I will also say that I never thought anything would get Silver to leave the silence that she has lived with her entire life.  Watching as Valentin showed Silver just how good life could be when you included feelings, and especially love, was an adventure at every turn.  I also loved watching as Sliver fought and then gave up her attempt to not give in to her feelings. She was such a goner as soon as she moved into the clan home.

All of the things I have said above only covers the top layers of why I fell in love with Silver and Valentin’s story.  There are also times that made me want to cry and times when I laughed out loud.  This was a book that I turned around and re-read as soon as I finished it, and I discovered new elements that I had missed the first time.  If you ever wondered just how determined bears can be—Valentin not only won Silver’s love once, but he did it twice against all the odds against him.  How can you not love a man who can do that??  Silver Silence is definitely a Joyfully Recommend Read and has become one of my top favorites in the Psy-Changeling stories.  I can’t wait to see where this Trinity series is going to go next.

Bastien Smith is a financial genius for the DarkRiver pack.  Lately, Bastien has been going crazy, because he has scented his mate, but when he tries to follow it, it just goes away.  And then he found another scent that was different, but also seemed to point towards his mate and again, it just disappeared.  But he found the answer after helping an elder packmate back to her apartment from his mother’s house.

Kirby has just moved into the DarkRiver territory and was hired as a kindergarten teacher.  Kirby was raised by the State after being found outside a house fire that killed her parents and no relatives could be found for her.  Kirby has always known the bare basics of her past, but after moving to her new house and her new job, strange things have been happening to her.  Those strange occurrences just got worse after meeting Bastien.

Bastien knows that something is odd with Kirby, because her scent is split and when she suddenly starts having episodes of sudden pains, fevers and semi-shifting, he knows that Kirby’s past must have more in it than even she realizes.  Together, they work to learn just what Kirby’s past is, while Bastien works to show Kirby that no matter what they find, she will always be his mate—human, half-blood, or whatever the truth reveals.  As the facts come together, Kirby learns that she is a shifter, just not a leopard like Bastien.  With the love and support from Bastien and his pack, Kirby is able to learn what the tragic past hid from her and finds that she isn’t alone in the world after all.  Kirby is at another changing point.  Will she go to her lost past, or will she go forward with Bastien into the loving future that awaits them?

A leopard whose human part is on the hunt for his disappearing mate, and a shy schoolteacher with a hidden past will discover just what the future holds for them both in Secrets at Midnight.  I will say right away that this novella was in the anthology Nightshift, so if you have that you might not want this standalone or you might be like me and want this as a standalone for your psy-changeling library.  I loved watching as Bastien gently showed Kirby that their attraction was so much more and then helped her discover the truth about her very being.  I also have to admit to cheering for Kirby when she met Mercy the first time. It’s a part that I have read over a couple of times just because it’s so fun.  Mostly I found that watching as Kirby and Bastien found each other and traveled through their mating dance to be a page-turner.  There is nothing better than seeing a changeling find his forever mate and completing their mating dance.  I can only hope that the future is bright and shiny for both of them.  Secrets at Midnight is a perfect few hours of escape filled with love, passion, and discovery.

Sarah Smith was very young and pretty naïve when she fell in love and married the man of her dreams, or so she thought.  Sarah knew that Abe and the rock group he was in was moving up when she married Abe, but she never expected how the pressures and other trip-falls of that stardom would destroy all of her dreams.  Now, it’s several years later, and Sarah has learned the hard way that dreams really don’t always come true.  Strangely enough, just when Sarah needed someone to help her, it was Abe who stepped in.

Abe Bellamy is a member of Schoolboy Choir, a rock band that has been at the top of the charts for years now.  Abe has had to struggle with his demons while the band rose in fame and part of realizing he needed help was when he single-handedly destroyed his marriage with Sarah.  Abe knows he threw away one of the best things he ever had when he forced Sarah to leave him.  Abe has had time to be clean and sober, and it hurts more than ever as Abe relives those years with Sarah.

Abe is hoping that he might just have a chance to show Sarah that he has changed and become a better man, and maybe she would be willing to give him a second chance.  Sarah is more than wary when Abe is suddenly coming around, sending her thoughtful and heartwarming gifts and just being the man she once thought she had married.  As Abe learns about what Sarah has gone through in the years since their parting, he learns that she has overcome several things that would have put most people down.  When Sarah and Abe learn that she has become pregnant, the stakes are even higher for Sarah and Abe.  As the nine months pass, Sarah and Abe learn each other again and each discovers they have fallen back in love with the other.  The questions are, can Sarah trust Abe to be her future and that of their child’s enough to give them that golden future, or is it too late for them?

Young marriages in the glare of stardom rarely last long.  Sarah and Abe learned that all too well but maybe, just maybe, they have found a way for a second chance at the love and future they tried for so long ago in Rock Wedding.  I have to admit I always wondered just what destroyed Abe and Sarah’s marriage.  Learning just what happened had me hoping even harder that Sarah and Abe would win this time as I followed their ups and downs of rediscovering each other.  Several times I cheered for them and, of course, there were the times that I wanted to give them both a hug.  What I really loved was how the band members all did what they could to help out Sarah and Abe, including using their finances.

I loved watching Abe and Sarah not only fall in love again, but also their journey to becoming parents.  Another thing I loved was seeing all four weddings and how each wedding perfectly matched the couple involved.  Rock Wedding is an awesome second-chance-at-love story and more—it is the perfect way to the love and happiness for each member of Schoolboy Choir.  After I read this story, I actually had to start at the beginning and re-read the entire series from start to end.

Elena is constantly learning not only about her sexy Archangel consort, but also about the Cadre itself and how they rule.  She just learned from Raphael that there is actually one group of angels called the Luminata who can call the Cadre to meet and has just did so.  It seems everyone has been searching for the Archangel Lijuan, and now things have turned dangerous, so the Luminata has called a meeting to deal with her land.

Elena is more excited about where the meeting is going to be held, which is the land of her mother’s family—Morocco.  While Raphael is dealing with the Cadre, Elena is going to doing a personal type of hunt to see if she can discover any information about her mother’s family.  She knows that her unique coloring might be a clue.  However, as soon as Raphael and Elena hit the home of the Luminata, it is very evident that something is very wrong there.

The more Elena digs, the more she discovers that the path of tracing her grandparents just might point to a very unexpected place and the past and present just might be closer than anyone ever expected.  If that isn’t enough to keep Elena and Raphael busy, the Cadre has attracted the deadly attention of the Cascade and, of course, the Archangels cannot agree on the Lijuan question:  Is she really asleep or just laying low to regain her strength for another deadly attack?  When the answers to all of the questions are answered, several lives will change forever—especially Elena and Raphael’s.

An unexpected trip to Morocco gives Elena a chance to learn more about her maternal family while accompanying Raphael to a mandatory meeting of the Cadre.  Neither expects the strange twists and turns they discover in Archangel’s Heart.  I’m going to say right off the bat that this is a “who needs sleep anyway” book.  Once you start it, you won’t want to stop reading it.  I know I didn’t.  I was totally engrossed with discovering more about the inner workings of the Cadre and also watching as Elena discovered the mystery on why her mother was orphaned.  I also enjoyed watching as the various members of the Cadre interacted  Unlike the last few books which were spaced closely together, this one opens two years after the last.

One of the first things I noticed was that the love between Raphael and Elena had not only grown, but had relaxed into an even more give-and-take between them.  Of course, I loved the same wonderful lighthearted periods along with the deep suspense and even danger that I have come to love with the Guild Hunter books.  I found that every page added to the story, and I really just never wanted to put it down in order to do anything.  My suggestion to you is to not open the front cover until you know you have an extended period of time to just read.  There was no doubt in my mind that Archangel’s Heart has leaped to the top of my favorites by this author, and I love all of her books for different reasons.  Of course I’m Joyfully Recommending Archangel’s Heart as a must read.  With all the changes that happened in the end, I can tell you that I’m already panting for the next book in this series.

Echo of Silence

Tazia Nerif is an engineer on the deep sea station called Alaris. It’s an important job and one she work harded to get, and she loves it, but it also is a symbol of the loss of her entire family.  Even though it’s been years since Tazia has had any contact with her family, she still dreams that one day they will send her a message.  Stefan is the Psy in charge of the station.  Stefan is a teleporter and was earmarked to become an Arrow, but because of a deep flaw, Stefan was dropped from the squad.  Stefan has always kept his flaw under control—that is, until he accidentally hurts Tazia.  Now he is willing to expose his flaw to her and to also learn how to help her obtain the one thing she dreams of—reconnecting with her family.

Echos of Silence takes two people who have been deeply hurt by things that happened with their immediate families and gives them a way to heal and find a deep love that helps them heal even more.  I could all but hear Tazia’s heart break when Stefan says one fatal sentence.  I could also tell that the supposedly silent male was anything but and that he was hurt almost as much as Tazia was by his statement when he discovers the fallout from it.  I loved watching as Stefan and Tazia learned about each other and discovered how to heal with the others’ love and strength.  A perfect story to kick off this group of stories within a series I love.

Dorian

Dorian is a glimpse into the life of a well-loved character and allows us to see the life he led and how he handled it and also the joy in finally being able to shift.  I also loved watching as Dorian had to learn all the basics most shifters learn so young.  I will admit to cheering a couple of times as I read and watched Dorian become the man he is today.  A great second story for this book.

Partners in Persuasion

Felix is a SnowDancer wolf and head of the horticulture for them.  He is also a submissive and one who has been hurt before by trusting a dominant female in a relationship.  Felix would love to mate and have a family, but he is now extremely gun shy.  Dezi is a leopard DarkRiver dominant and senior soldier, one who is fascinated by Felix. Dezi is used to going for what she wants and wanting to know Felix better is no different.  However, at first it seems like one step forward leads to two steps back when they first try to have a relationship.  However, Felix decides to take matters into his own hands and, between he and Dezi, they figure out a few ground rules that help these two very different people discover a passion that can only lead to love and mating so long as they can learn to trust each other’s strengths and weaknesses.

Partners in Persuasion is yet another relationship where DarkRiver and SnowDancer become united by a couple of lovers.  I really loved reading along and watching as Felix and Dezi learned to take baby steps and didn’t allow his past or her dominance to stop them.  The best part was how fast their inner animals mixed and seeing how the humans learned how to love without any barriers.  I have loved Felix from when he first stepped into the picture to rebuild the forest that was destroyed during the Psy/SnowDancer battle.  I was very happy to see him find his perfect mate.  Yet another story that does not disappoint.

Flirtation of Fate

Garnet grew up just knowing that when she got older, her brother’s best friend, Kenji, would become her mate.  As Garnet grew, she and Kenji grew closer and closer and yet on her eighteenth birthday, he shattered her heart.  Garnet has been mad at him ever since.  Now many years later, both she and Kenji are SnowDancer Lieutenants in charge of important parts of their property.  Their dens are actually close together and therefore Kenji and Garnet have to work together quite often.  Kenji has loved Garnet since they were both children, but he had a very specific reason for his actions—reasons that he has kept to himself all these years.  Kenji is visiting Garnet’s den when a murder is discovered.  The weather is making so whoever did this has to still be in the den.  Garnet, with Kenji’s help, follows the clues to discover just what happened and the how and why of the murder.  Along the way, Garnet also sees clues that make her believe that there is more behind Kenji’s actions than just being a playboy that made him hurt her so badly years ago.  Determined, Garnet sets her sights on learning two truths:  who murdered a member of her den and just what secrets Kenji is hiding from her.  When the answers come out, one will make Garnet very sad, and one will make her dreams come true.

Flirtation of Fate finally brings Garnet and Kenji together after years of heartache.  It also proves just how strong they are as partners, both for SnowDancer and as lovers.  I loved watching them come together and to see the dual heartaches that happened so long ago become healed.

Wild Embrace is four strong and gripping stories in a world I have come to love.  I have to say I didn’t feel there was a weak one in the bunch and all of them submerged me into their individual worlds and had me following the paths of each one intently.  I also loved that each story could actually be read as a stand alone or with the knowledge of knowing the world and series in which they are all set.  By time I was done, there was no doubt in my mind that this would be a Joyfully Recommended book.  I highly recommend it even if you haven’t read any of the books in the series.  Just be warned that you will probably become addicted to the world and will end up starting from Book One and going forward.
