They're the Chosen--Winchester, Remington and Colt--brothers trained to hunt down supernatural beings using the latest steam-powered gadgetry. It's a hard legacy to shoulder, and it's about to get a lot more dangerous. . . A Devil Of A JobColt Jackson has gotten his name on many a wanted poster with success in the family business: hunting supernaturals across the frontier. Lately, though, there's a sulfur stink in the wind and the Darkin population is exploding. A rift in the worlds is appearing. To close it, Colt will have to do the unthinkable and work with a demon to pass arcane boundaries no human alone can cross.Except when he summons his demon, he doesn't get some horned monstrosity: he gets a curvy redheaded succubus named Lilly, who's willing to make a bargain to become human again. He also gets Lilly's secret expertise on the machinations on the dark side of the rift. And her charm and cleverness help to get them out of what his silver-loaded pistol and mechanical horse can't. Of course, when all hell breaks loose, he might have to sacrifice his soul. But what's adventure without a little risk?

Colt Jackson discovered his family legacy the hard way – by almost dying from a paranormal creature of the night known as Darkin.  That day changed how Colt lived his life and viewed those around him.  As far as Colt is concerned the only good Darkin is a dead one.  That has made him a very good hunter and one that most Darkins have on their most wanted list.  Colt knows that civilization will crease if those in hell can have access to a way out.  He is on the hunt to find a way to stop it and wouldn’t you know it – he is going to have to get a Darkin to help him.

Lily Arliss is a succubus demon now, but she was once a normal human and really wants to be that way again.  Giving her soul up to save a loved one, Lily has come to discover there are many types of hell.  When Lily is sent on a mission to get close to Colt, to take his soul and to discover what he is looking for, Lily agrees to help, but she has a mission of her own.  The biggest worry Lily has is if she can get Colt to work with her before he kills her.

Colt can’t believe how strongly he is attracted to Lily.  At first he believes the lust must be from her talents and yet he agrees to a partnership with Lily – a cautious one.  However, as their adventures go on, the attraction between Lily and Colt only gets stronger.  Their hunt for a part of Colt’s family legacy makes them both face fears with the help of each other.  A final battle is brewing with Colt and Lily on one side and the demon that has Lily’s soul on the other.  When the dust settles will Colt and Lily survive to discover the love that is just at their fingertips?

The Wild West comes alive when a hunter and a demon find passion.  The Hunter brings Lily and Colt together in a way neither would have expected.  Right off I have to say I loved this world and the Jackson brothers.  I wanted to give Colt a hug when he learned about what his family was.  Lily also had me when I learned exactly why she sold her soul – and I probably would have done the same thing for that reason.  I did not want Colt and Lily’s adventures to end and yet I loved how it turned out for them.  Steampunk has been a long time favorite of mine and I have to say that Ms. Meyers has a wonderful grip on just what that world is.  I can’t wait until I can see what adventures Colt’s brothers come to and just how their ultimate hunt ends. The Hunter is steampunk at its best with adventures, mechanical wonders and of course a hot and passionate romance.  Saying all that, of course I have to Joyfully Recommend it.  If you have not tried steampunk yet, The Hunter would be a great way to begin your journey in to this unique world.

The Chosen: a prophecy older than dirt and more dangerous than death. Even as they perfected steam-powered gadgetry and rounded up varmints from Hell, the Jackson brothers didn't believe in it. But when the chips are down, three brothers named for weapons aren't going out without a fight. . .A Walk On The Wild SideAttorney by day, demon-hunter by night, Remington Jackson is used to being on the sunny side of the law, even in the Wild West. But it's showdown time, and Remy and his brothers are getting desperate. They don't have the relic they need to slam the door shut on evil--so Remy is going to have to find and steal part of it. Enter China McGee, shapeshifter, thief, beauty, and current prisoner. When Remy offers her freedom in exchange for a little light-fingered help, she's pretty sure she's going to end the association with a good old-fashioned seductive double cross. But there's something about fighting through a jungle full of Mayan ruins that makes you want to settle down together. China could change. Remy might be special. But none of that matters if the devil takes them all. . .

China McGee is a woman of many talents, she is a shape shifter, thief, beautiful and, at the moment, she is a prisoner thanks to one of the Jackson brothers.  China is already planning her escape from the prison when who appears but yet another Jackson brother who says he is her attorney and is getting her out.  Of course, his price is her agreeing to use her talents to help him locate something.

Remington “Remy” Jackson grew up as a demon hunter.  It was the family business after all, but now he is also an attorney.  When Remy gets a message from his brother about China, he decides to not only get her out, but to have her help him and his brothers locate the final lost section of the book that will fulfill a legend and hopefully save the world from destruction.

China agrees to help, but the entire time she does, she is planning on how to escape Remy.  One little problem with that is Remy is anticipating her and also the intense attraction that has sprung up between them.  Remy and China begin what should have been a simple retrieval and end up traveling to an ancient forest filled with ruins and learning that shape shifters really don’t do well in submarines.  Time is running short as the days get closer to the date stated in the legend and finally China and Remy have their portion of the book.  To save the world, they are going to have to join up with the other Jackson brothers and their loves to complete the final steps and hope that, between them all, they can figure out the answers to the final clues in the legend before all heck breaks loose.  Having the book whole finally is only part of the answer and time is truly running out to solve that final clue – can they do it in time?

A demon hunter and a shape shifter find love while teaming up to save the world from the worse type of demons.  Remy and China discover much more than the final answers to the clues of an old legend in The Chosen.  I could hardly wait to read Remy’s story after reading those of his brothers and, of course, I had my own theories on just what the clues of the legend meant.  I would have never guessed that Remy and China would find the love that they did and yet it was so natural as it happened to them.  There were several times that I ended up laughing at the exchanges between Remy and China.  I knew that their love was solid by the time they met up with the other Jackson brothers and their loves.  I just knew that between them they had to win the day and solve the legend in time.  I loved that it was the women who figured out the final clue and what it turned out to be.  When the countdown arrived to the zero hour, the final battle was all I was hoping for.  While I’m sorry to see the end of this series, I know that I only have to pull out the books again and I can relive all the suspense, battle of good and evil and watch as love keeps winning the day.  The Chosen is steampunk romance at its finest with suspense, mystery, passion and humor all wrapped up into a plot that keeps you turning the page.  While you really don’t need to read the books in order, I would suggest reading the first two The Slayer and The Hunter prior to reading The Chosen because it all comes together and so do the characters in the final chapter.
