Quinn Peterson lives and breathes Pixie Wheels, her father’s automotive shop.  Since her mother’s death, her father has become an alcoholic leaving Quinn to run the garage.  Unfortunately, it is in major debt and a hot shot race car builder has set his sight on buying the shop.  Quinn would rather die than sell it; however, her drunken father has other ideas.

Tazen Watts is a well-known custom race car builder who acquires financially troubled local garages around the country to accommodate his clienteles’ demands.  His latest conquest is the Pixie Wheels garage.  Instead of the usually smooth transition, Tazen is experiencing uncountable physical and emotional difficulty with the pervious owner’s daughter, Quinn.

Will Quinn and Tazen be able to resolve their differences before they destroy each other?

I am on the fence concerning Hard to Break.  Whereas, the plotline is intriguing and the overall writing style is excellent; I struggled bonding with Quinn and Tazen.  For a huge portion of the book, I could not stand either one of them.  Even though from the history aspect, I understand Quinn’s attachment to the garage; however, she comes over as a spoiled brat who whines all the time.  Likewise, Tazen’s general attitude towards a woman’s workplace really worked my nerves.  Bottom line he is an inconsiderate jerk with no regards to Quinn’s feelings.  Nevertheless, in the end Tazen makes it all up to Quinn in a big way that somewhat softened my heart towards him.  Overall, Hard to Break is a passable read.  With that said, I still look forward to future reads from Bella Jewel.

Love is the most dangerous obsession…

Skye Sullivan is trying to put the pieces of her life back together. She survived a brutal stalker and escaped his abduction, and now she is looking to the future—a future that includes Skye’s lover, billionaire Trace Weston. Skye thinks the danger is finally over for her.

She’s dead wrong.

When Trace’s past comes back to haunt him, Skye discovers that the man she loves isn’t quite who he seems to be. Trace has been leading a double-life. An ex-special forces agent, his military training turned him into the perfect killing machine. He made more than his share of enemies during his time in the military—and as he built his security empire—and one of those enemies is striking back.

He won’t lose her.

Skye is the one weapon that can be used against Trace—his only vulnerability. But he won’t let her go—he can’t. Trace will do anything necessary to protect Skye. Anything. Yet when she discovers the secrets that he’s tried to keep hidden, Skye’s pain and rage may send her running directly into the cross-hairs of a killer…

Mine to Keep is an intense romantic thriller!  We are once again taken into the world of Skye and Trace.  The story picks up not long after the stunning conclusion of book one Mine to Take.  I didn’t think things could get hotter or more extreme between Skye and Trace but they do!  This couple is scorching!  I love them together and were stressed for them as danger started stalking them once again.

Cynthia Eden’s pen excels in Mine to Keep.  The suspense is stellar and kept me guessing until the very end! I actually said “Holy Sh*t” as I figured out whodunit.  I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book in the Mine series.

Nearing forty, Caleb Stone has never been comfortable with his sexuality. Coming out later in life met with his father’s disapproval and curtailed any youthful adventures for the uptight scion of a wealthy New York family. Rather than risk the potential of awkward failure, he hides his desires behind a prickly, controlled facade. All that changes at a New Year’s Eve party where Caleb, still smarting from his ex’s new relationship, finds himself alone in a crowd of couples.

Enter Oliver “Oli” Buckley. Disowned by his own wealthy family at eighteen for his sexual adventures, Oli had to make his own way in life and is unapologetically independent. Shameless and daring, he is Caleb’s opposite, and a kiss at midnight leads to an explosive tryst neither can forget — even if Caleb’s memory is a bit hazy. Libertine Oli is happy to facilitate Caleb’s hedonistic escapades, but he’s nobody’s Prince Charming and doesn’t believe in monogamy.

As they delve further into a sexual relationship, the two become friends, business partners, and Caleb finally comes into his own. Caleb knows what he wants, but will his newfound courage push him to discover Oli’s true desires?

First and First is a fantastic addition to the Five Boroughs series. The second installment, Sunset Park, may still be my favorite, but First and First is a close second. After meeting Caleb in Sunset Park, I was a little apprehensive of him as a leading man, but he and Oli are delightful. Prickly but deep, Caleb is just waiting for someone wild and blunt as Oli. Told exclusively through Caleb’s point of view, I enjoyed watching him develop his confidence and act upon it. I also appreciate the bits of Oli’s personality that peeked through even when Caleb wasn’t fully catching onto what Oli was showing him. I don’t always prefer a limited perspective, but here it was presented in such a subtle and intriguing way that I didn’t mind not reading Oli’s POV. I wouldn’t say no to a short story from his POV, though.

Intensely erotic, First and First blazes off the pages. Caleb and Oli’s relationship evolves through multiple scorching sex scenes. While kinky and debauched, those scenes work together to push the story forward with a purpose. Caleb is so buttoned down that he needs wild experiences in order to come to terms with his true desires. Oli, the hedonist, needs to find the person who will accept and fight for him. I also enjoyed the modern feel of their relationship and the story’s backdrop. It wasn’t simply a standard, normative tale. Caleb and Oli were finding love in a world where people hookup but aren’t necessarily exclusive or renting U-Hauls after a few weeks. It’s refreshing to read a contemporary romance populated with characters that act as people of today. The secondary characters help make the Five Boroughs world more vivid and alive. I lived for the storyline featuring Raymond and David. I can’t get enough of them, even though I know they already have their own book. There were also quite a few other characters I would love to have Santino explore further. Charles deserves his happy ending at some point! Honestly though, I just want to read more of this world and the series, no matter who the characters are.

First and First could be easily read as a standalone, but I would suggest reading the previous books first. Readers will get a much fuller, richer story if they explore the earlier installments. Since I loved the previous book even more, let me assure you, you will thank me after reading it. Santino Hassell knows how to provide a thoroughly modern, utterly wicked, completely delightful read. I can’t Joyfully Recommend First and First enough!

Katrina Livingston is the daughter and sister of Alphas.  It is no wonder that she possesses dominant she-wolf characteristics and it is very difficult for her to ask for help.  In spite of this, while on the run from demonic forces that are trying to steal her wolf, the only person that she can turn to is the Agrestis Wolves Alpha, Jax Chandler.  Who just happens to be her mate…the same mate that she has been avoiding for over a year for fear the magic that has infected her will cause him physical harm.

Jax Chandler is out for blood.  He is determined to find and eliminate the lead scoundrel who kidnapped and tortured him.  While escaping from his torturous event, Jax rescues another captive who just happens to be Kat Livingston – whom he believes to be his mate.  With a scorned past wedged between them, will Jax and Kat be able to put their differences aside in order to destroy the evil predator that is determined to steal their wolves?  But, more importantly, can their love survive without trust.

Whereas, I found Jax to have a good storyline with thrilling action, something is still missing that does not totally capture me like the preceding novels within this series.  Do not get me wrong, Kym Grosso continues to deliver the spine-tingling ambiguity and intense sexual tension between the hero and heroine in her amazing writing style.  Yet, my desire to finish this read as quickly as possible was not there.  Nevertheless, I adore the dominant Alpha personalities of Kat and Jax.  As you can imagine, it leads to some steamy sexual encounters and fascinating, robust dialogue.  The suspense behind the abductions is an attention-grabbing mystery with the need to discover the whys.  Overall, Jax is a satisfactory read and I eagerly look forward to Ms. Grosso’s next installment in the Immortals of New Orleans series.

Sarge Purcell is in love with a woman who is seven years his senior who just happens to be his older sister’s best friend.  So much so, that she is the secret inspiration for his music career success.  After a four year absence, Sarge returns to his hometown to reconnect and claim the woman that he has always loved – Jasmine Taveras.

Jasmine Taveras has always had a big dream of becoming a famous singer; however, her dream never became a reality.  Instead she ends up working in the town’s factory like most of the folks in Hook, New Jersey.  Her life becomes more interesting when Sarge returns to town.  Not only has he grown up into a fine looking, young man; but, Jasmine is surprised to find herself attracted to someone that she used to babysit.

With Sarge in hot pursuit of Jasmine, will she give into her desire to be with a younger man?

Crashed Out is a tightly crossed-leg, lip-wetting type of novella that will have you fanning your flaming cheeks.  The lust factor between Jasmine and Sarge is mega hot and as you can imagine the sexual encounters are passionate and full of erotic, explicit play.  Although, Jasmine is in a constant internal battle with their age difference, Sarge’s dirty talk relentlessly melts her heart at every turn.  Whereas, Jasmine and Sarge have valid reasons for their uncertainties; I relish in watching the couple discover just how much they deeply feel, want, and need one another.  All in all, Crashed Out is a good read.
