Dante Moretti has just landed his dream job: GM of the Chicago Rebels. And screw the haters who think there should be an asterisk next to his name because he’s the first out managing executive in pro hockey. He’s earned the right to be here and nothing will topple him off that perch—especially not an incredibly inconvenient attraction to his star defenseman, Cade “Alamo” Burnett. Cade has always been careful to keep his own desires on the down low, but his hot Italian boss proves to be a temptation he can’t resist. Sure, they both have so much to lose, but no one will ever know...

As Dante and Cade’s taboo affair heats up off the ice and their relationship gets more and more intense, they’ll have to decide: is love worth risking their careers? Or is this romance destined to be forever benched?

Undone by You is so damn hot!  Dante Moretti and Cade “Alamo” Burnett’s attraction is palpable.  They simply sizzle together.  I love so many things about Author Kate Meader’s Undone by You.  The sexual tension is through the roof.  The drama is intensely seductive as Dante tries to fight his attraction to Cade all the while Cade pursues him fiercely.  Dante and Cade will pull you in from page one and have you aching for more of their powerful romance.  Undone by You is a winner! If you like it forbidden and hot this book is for you! Dante and Cade’s romance is an excellent addition to the Chicago Rebel’s series.

I am happy to Joyfully Recommend Undone by You! It’s my first recommendation for 2018!

I’m so in love with Isobel Chase & Vadim Petrov I feel like I might bust! I’m simply cannot stop smiling.

The Chase sisters must get their hockey team the Chicago Rebels into the playoffs if they want to hold on to the team.  Per their father’s will, if they do not get into the playoffs the team will be sold.  A key to winning is their latest acquisition Vadim Petrov.  It is Isobel’s job to get him back into fighting shape after a recent injury. There is just a tiny problem…these two have a past.

Olympic Silver Medalist Isobel Chase was set to be the best female hockey player in the world until she was sidelined by a life-threatening injury.  Now, she must settle for coaching the game she so desperately wants to play.  However, getting grown men to listen to a female coach is easier said than done.  Vadim Petrov is the latest roadblock on her road to a full-time coaching job.

The last person Vadim Petrov wants to help him get back up to speed on the ice is Isobel Chase.  He’s still harboring anger about the last time she entered his life and dashed his dreams. Yet, he cannot deny there is still a spark between them.  He quickly realizes she might just melt the ice wall he’s built around his heart.

Isobel and Vadim must decide whether pursuing the chemistry between them is worth possibly losing everything they hold dear.

WOW! Author Kate Meader blew me away with passion and grace in So Over You the second book in her Chicago Rebels series.

Isobel and Vadim will draw you in the second they share the page. It’s impossible to miss the angsty unresolved feelings between them.  While each would rather forget their teenage romance, it keeps rearing its head.  As they try to convince each other that they are So Over their past; it continues to pull them together.  Isobel and Vadim are both very obstinate it is fun watching their walls crumble.  If you love romances filled with scorching scenes and emotional storytelling Ms. Meader’s So Over You if for You!

So Over You really takes second chance romance to the next level by pairing it with a high stakes subplot. Everyone in the story has something riding on the outcome of the team.  I love the fact that the secondary characters play such important roles in the series.  Speaking of which, I cannot wait to learn more about Dante and his possible relationship!

So Over You is bursting with unforgettable romance that will leave you with chill bumps…the good kind.  I enjoyed the first book in the series Irresistible You so much.  I didn’t think Ms. Meader could follow that up with another story so spectacularly, but she hit the mark with So Over You.

So Over You is one of those stay up all night books that will have you wanting to start it over again when you finish.  So Over You is a Joyfully Recommended Read for December and the perfect book to wrap up 2017 with!

RULES OF CONTACT by Jaci BurtonRules of Contact by Jaci Burton

When I first started the Play by Play series by Jaci Burton I never dreamed she would supply book after book of multiple sports heroes, but I have enjoyed each and every one in their own way. Whether it was hockey, baseball or football, one thing that is always consistent is the love of the sport that Ms. Burton brings to each story. Rules of Contact is the twelfth book in the Play by Play series and I liked the change of pace and the focus on food Ms. Burton added in. I swear every time the food was mentioned all I could think of was “damn that sounds good”, so you have been warned not only is Rules of Contact hot but it will definitely make you hungry in more ways than one.

Flynn Cassidy loves football but he also loves food. He does more than okay in the kitchen so when he decides to finally open his own restaurant he is looking for the right team to run it while he is on the field. In the previous book, Unexpected Rush, he meets his new chef Amelia Lawrence and knows she will be the perfect fit for his place.

Rules of Contact picks up just before his restaurant opens and Flynn is having bad luck in the dating pool as all the women end up wanting exposure of some kind but not his head chef Amelia. From the moment he met her he could feel the attraction but mixing business with pleasure is not a good idea. Flynn does his best to keep everything on a professional level but the closer they work together the lines start to blur and now he wants to try and date her, the only problem is that he has to convince her to give him an honest to god shot.

Amelia Lawrence is starting over in a new city after her divorce and so far things are going great. She loves the new people she has met and loves her new job as head chef at Ninety-Two, her boss is a great guy and nothing what she originally expected from him but there is one problem, with each day that passes her attraction to Flynn is growing. She hasn’t dated much since her divorce but she is open to a little fun as long as it doesn’t get in the way of work. Once they embark on a relationship keeping it casual becomes difficult and she is quickly learning that there is nothing light and easy about the two of them together.

From the moment Flynn was introduced I couldn’t wait to learn more about him and I was shocked that he was looking for someone special and not the player type, he was open to love. When a relationship wasn’t working out he was honest and cut ties and tried again. At times I felt for him because none of the women he dated wanted to get to know the real him but were just caught up in his fame. Amelia was easy to like and I loved that she was a chef and not some football groupie. She was a little on the unsure side of dating but once her and Flynn’s relationship really started to take off I started to see them as a long term couple. They have a mutual respect and genuinely like one another.

Rules of Contact started out a little on the slow side but once it got going I didn’t want to put it down. Of course since Rules of Contact is a sports romance I was looking forward to football time during the story and while there are a few scattered scenes of Flynn playing I felt the whole restaurant theme took away from it. I loved that there was no overload on drama and I was glad I could see the growth of their relationship building chapter by chapter.

We also see Flynn’s sister Mia a few times during this story and I have to say I really do hope she gets her own book. Will Mia end up with a baseball, hockey or football player? I guess I will have to wait and see and I can’t wait! If you love sports romance as much as I do you won’t want to miss Rules of Contact.

Hard Hitter is the second novel in the Brooklyn Bruisers series by Sarina Bowen and I have to admit after reading the previous book I was hooked not only on the cast of characters Ms. Bowen created but her story telling capabilities. The more I read of the Brooklyn Bruisers series the more my love for hockey in general grows.

Team captain Patrick O’Doul grew up in the foster system and while he has had relationships with women in the past they are few and far between and just about sex. He has been ordered by his team to start getting massages to help loosen up his previous injuries and it just so happens Ari will be making sure he is in tip top shape for the games. As Ari and Patrick become closer he knows she is different but when a mistake he made in the past comes to light he has to wonder if he will lose Ari before their relationship has really begun and if his team will forgive him after he has started to let them in. A lot is on the line for Patrick but he isn’t giving up without a fight and it just so happens now he has more to fight for than ever before.

Ari Bettini has decided to put all her energy into her work since she threw out her longtime boyfriend, but he just won’t go away no matter how hard she tries. Being on the road with the guys and teaching them yoga is truly a blessing and a wondering distraction from her life. After getting Patrick on the table, little by little he starts to open to her and before they know it they are hitting the sheets. Ari doesn’t want to get in trouble for crossing the line so they agree to keep it a secret but when Ari’s ex starts to makes waves not only with her relationship but putting her job at risk she has no choice but to trust the people she has become close to, including Patrick.

Ari and Patrick were really great characters and had a lot in common but also their different personalities brought out the very best in them not only as a couple but as individuals. While Hard Hitter contained some drama it was just enough to keep me engaged with how these issues effected them. From the very beginning I liked Ari and couldn’t wait to hear what her story was and boy did Ms. Bowen give her a lot to handle but she was strong and willing to fight for her new life and what she wanted. Patrick being a loner really touched me more than I thought it would. At first I couldn’t understand how a guy surrounded by teammates felt the need to be this way but it just showed he never got past what had happened to him and he doesn’t start to until Ari becomes more frequent in his life.

Hard Hitter was an enjoyable romance whose characters stood out from the very beginning. The plot was direct and I love how Ms. Bowen took the time to not only tell readers about Ari’s ex but tie it off in a manner that was believable. I found the love scenes steamy, detailed and they showed Ari and Patrick’s connection that was growing deeper over the course of their story. I really enjoyed the secondary characters as well. Patrick’s teammates were a real hoot and have me looking forward to reading some of their romances in the future.

Shane “The Brick Wall” Conrad is the goalie for the Redtails hockey team and he is going through a tough time on the ice. When his teammate, Cary, invites him to spend the Christmas holiday with him and his family Shane accepts since he isn’t going home. Upon arriving Shane knows no one there and can’t want to leave but then he meets Bliss and wants to spend more time getting to know her. As the night progresses he quickly learns that Bliss is feeling the same way he is and he can’t leave fast enough but he wants Bliss at his side when he does.

Bliss Vescovi helps run her aunt’s successful bridal shop and loves the life she has built. While attending the Christmas party hosted by her friend Lori she meets many new people but when a tall drink of water walks through the front door she feels the party is getting better. All Bliss knows is that she has to meet this man. Bliss might want one night of fun but one night with Shane might just not be enough.

The Brick Wall is the first book in Stephanie Julian’s new hockey contemporary romance series and of course I had to read it because it was a sports romance. This is my first book by Ms. Julian and while I enjoyed the characters, The Brick Wall didn’t speak to me the way I hoped for. The characters were likeable and I enjoyed getting to know Shane and Bliss both individually and as a couple, but I did feel The Brick Wall was a little on the short side. There were parts in The Brick Wall where the time would lapse and I couldn’t help but feel I was missing so much in between.

The romance was really the only thing that kept me wanting to read this story. I found myself getting frustrated not only with this miscommunication between Shane and Bliss but also how the ending turned out. The characters did show some form of growth, they both went from being vulnerable and not wanting to get hurt to trusting in one another and wanting to make it work. In the end I felt The Brick Wall was just an okay introduction to the Redtails hockey series, but I am hopeful the next book will be more developed and the series will start to take off.
