Nexi Jones—part witch, part guardian, and wannabe kick-ass warrior—can’t throw a punch or conjure the simplest magic. But that doesn’t stop her from hunting the werewolves who slaughtered her human family. She’ll have her revenge, but only if Kyden, the elite guardian, would get the hell out of her way.Kyden can’t decide if Nexi wants to get herself killed or if she just has no clue what she’s doing. But her father made it clear: keep Nexi safe…or else. Of course, the more Nexi runs toward revenge, the more she needs Kyden’s aid, and as she grows into her power and confidence, so does his desire to protect her. The only problem? She’d rather he dropped dead. But when a vampire paints a bull's-eye on Nexi’s back, she’s hard-pressed to deny Kyden and the help he’s offering. Even if it means getting her revenge will be a little bit harder. At least it will still be as sweet.

Nexi Jones is in a new life after learning what she had always known was a lie.  Nexi was born half a witch and half a guardian and so far is the only one like that known to exist.  Now after being saved by guardians when her adopted family is killed, Nexi has found herself in the Otherworld surrounded by people whose job it is to protect human kind from others who prey on them.  Nexi has to learn the skills to use the powers from both sides of her biology so that she can be the person she was always meant to be.  One of those helping her or alternately making her mad is a sexy guardian named Kyden.

Kyden is one of the elite guardians for the Council who rule the Otherworld.  Part of his job is to help train the younger guardians and now his job is to train Nexi and bring out all the potential that is just simmering within her.  It would be much easier to do if he didn’t also want to get her horizontal on or against any surface that was handy.  There is another problem in that Kyden knows that Nexi is only willing to learn to be a guardian warrior right now so she can revenge her adopted parents’ murders.  Kyden is searching for a way to help Nexi achieve her goals and obtain all the power that is within her without letting her lose herself in the need for revenge.

Nexi and Kyden have been sent on a mission to find out why werewolves are suddenly breaking the rules left and right and have no fear of being brought to the Council’s justice.  During the investigation, Nexi learns that the same werewolves who killed her adopted parents are also behind this madness.  Now she just has to figure out a way to get them cornered and end them.  Much easier said than done as Nexi is also learning that the majority, and also the leader of the werewolves, are honorable people and against killing humans.  While on this mission, Nexi and Kyden’s feelings explode into mind stopping passion.  The mission takes on a more serious nature now that Nexi is a full guardian and both Kyden and Nexi want to protect the other when out.  A trap has been set, but who is it going to catch – the werewolves or the guardians? And just where are Nexi and Kyden and their blooming love going to end up?

Two strong willed people learn about passion, strength and compromise as they battle evil to protect the innocent in Werewolves Be Damned.  I loved how Nexi and Kyden just meshed together so naturally both as lovers and as kicking guardians.  I was worried at first that the anger and need for revenge would blind Nexi to what really mattered, but with Kyden’s love and that of those around her in the Otherworld, she was able to do what needed to be done without losing herself.  I watched as Kyden learned to support Nexi while still fighting with her when it was needed.  The feelings and passion between them all but leapt off the pages from the very beginning until the last page was turned.  This isn’t my first time with Nexi and Kyden, and yet this time there was just so much more in their relationship and the story.  Don’t get me wrong, I loved them the first time around but now I can’t wait to see the next several chapters as their romance blooms and they fight evil together.  Werewolves Be Damned is fast paced and action packed, be it through the passion or the fighting. A page turner that will remain on my e-reader for a long time to come.  Okay, so where is the next one at?

All it takes is one freak to turn everything into a demonic ritual. Sierra Fox, Book 3Sierra Fox’s relationship with sexy werewolf Jason Papan is going great, but it doesn’t take a psychic to tell her someone’s out to get her. As usual, though, there’s too much else going on to worry about just another assassination attempt. In addition to the demon-possessed freaks that still want her, a whole new bucket of trouble has been dumped in her path. The half-sister Sierra never knew she had isn’t a typical teenager. Willow comes with supernatural baggage that grows heavier every time someone close to her dies. And the load gets bigger every time the police find the body of another young girl. Now Sierra’s not only dealing with the target on her own back, but the one that a power-hungry woman has painted on her poltergeist-magnet sister. As she finds herself drawn into the thick of a murder investigation, Sierra must face her deepest fears and embrace the darkest of her powers to overcome the looming threat. Or the prediction of her death might just come true. Warning: Spook catching: never gets any easier, neither does trying to avoid being killed by a shadowy organization. Always expect the unexpected—dangerous vampires, poltergeists and demon-obsessed freaks. At least the werewolf is pleasurably safe.

Sierra Fox has had trouble since her last huge battle that involved the Council over spook catchers in getting back in to the swing of thing.  Her assistant won’t acknowledge her existence and there are still creeps out there who are possessed by demons who want Sierra for some reason.  Heck, even the thought of walking into her office makes Sierra uneasy as she would have to pass the office where a friend was killed before Sierra won the last battle.  The only good thing is that her romance with Jason Papan, a werewolf PI, is still hotter than heck.  Sierra just seems to be waiting for the next shoe to drop and when it does, Sierra is in deeper than ever.

Sierra learns that she has a half-sister named Willow when Willow calls and makes an appointment.  Only after their meeting does Sierra learn that Willow has her own abilities as a poltergeist magnet and is on the run from those that want to use her.  Sierra isn’t about to let that happen and with Jason and her grandfather’s help, she begins to sort out the threats to her and to Willow and is a bit amazed to discover that the same people are involved in both.  Suddenly, Sierra and Willow learn they have several power hungry people after them to complete a ritual that must never be completed.  The fighting is turning down and dirty with Sierra trying to keep the targets on her and Willow’s backs from harming them any further all while trying to solve a murder.  When the final battle happens, can Sierra save the ones she loves and end the threats to her and Willow once and for all?

Can a spook catcher/witch and her werewolf lover figure out a way to defeat the otherworldly creatures that threaten them and her friends and family?  On Pins and Needles has Sierra and Jason teaming up again to defeat the truly evil, all while Sierra meets a half-sister she never knew of.  I knew that there would have been some fallout from the last battle, and in this book Sierra begins that chapter just a short time after her last one.  I was amazed when Willow suddenly showed up and proved to actually be not only Sierra’s half-sister, but also in almost as much trouble as Sierra.  I loved how Jason constantly backed Sierra up no matter how difficult the task.  Watching as Sierra battled not only for herself and Jason, but also for Sierra and her assistant, showed me that not even demons or vampires would stop Sierra from doing what she needed to do to protect those she cared for.  While two battles ended well and Sierra was able to give some peace to Willow and others, I could tell that this peace is probably only going to last for small while because other threads are still unraveling around them.  I can’t wait to see the next installment of Sierra and Jason against the world.  On Pins and Needles is action packed with suspense, danger constantly lurking and a passion that is just growing with each day between Sierra and Jason. What a way to spend a few hours of escape.

William Austin has always wanted to be a nurse, though he’s no longer sure the gratification is worth the pain of losing a patient. For now, he’s a nursing student and works two jobs—barista and private nurse. Will meets Blaine Coventry at the coffee shop, and when the altruistic young attorney offers him a job caring for his Uncle Elliot, Will accepts. Will finds that Elliot’s stroke has left him unable to walk or talk, and Elliot's husband, James, says the goal is to keep Elliot comfortable until he passes. But Will starts rehabilitation, and his patient soon begins to make progress. When James resists, Will realizes something isn’t right, and investigates. Then he discovers a chilling secret that threatens to forever change Will's life... or perhaps end it.

The nursing field is typically filled with women, so William Austin is used to the questioning stares.  It’s been Will’s experience however that the nursing staff are the ones who actually help the patient get better.  He only doubts his career choice sometimes when someone dies and it makes his soft heart so sad.

He also works part-time as a barista at a local coffee shop to supplement his income while in nursing school.  Not only does Will make decent money, but he also enjoys seeing the regulars and meeting new people, like a hot young lawyer called Blaine Coventry.

In a very short amount of time Will and Blaine have grown close.  As luck would have it Blaine’s uncle Elliot recently had a stroke and needs specialized care.  The money that his uncle’s partner is offering would supplement the next semester’s class fees. Sometimes though when an offer appears to be a godsend or too good to be true, it just might be.  Because from the moment Will arrives he senses something isn’t right, but what is Elliot trying to warn him about?

Supernatural forces bring eerie and scary to life.  Strange happenings hide within normalcy in The Left Hand Path.  Will is the bright spot in a twisted tale that hits when you least expect.  Sometimes The Left Hand Path even edges towards creepy too.  A fascinating story, but not a HEA, at least not the usual kind.

Thick-skinned vampire assassin meets smart-mouthed druid archer. Run, Cupid, run. Shane Hewitt has been many things—failed husband, supernatural punching bag, and now a bitch to the vampire council of New York City. He thought killing rogue vampires was the hardest thing he’d ever do. Until a hot redhead smashes into him, shouts orders and announces she’s saving his life. The sole female warrior in a family of druids, Siobhan O’Malley knows how to take care of herself and protect the big city from beasties who breach gateways from the fae realm. The last thing she needs is a misguided, leather-clad hottie’s help to get the job done. Except maybe he’s exactly what she needs. Siobhan is expected to be a willing, virginal sacrifice on her twenty-fifth birthday. Sex with Shane to stay alive? If he can pull his foot out of his mouth long enough and stop driving her crazy, no problem. Now if only the bad guys would leave them alone long enough to get the deed done. Warning: Contains a wee red-headed archer with deadly aim; a leather-jacket-wearing vampire hunter with a habit for saying all the wrong things; and a life-saving ritual that will leave them both panting.

Shane Hewitt is a kickass vampire hunter who works for the vampire council now, but he has done many things before now – the majority of which have not turned out well for him.  Part of that is why he works for the vampire council now and was brought into it by a woman who now sits on the council herself.  So when Shane is brought low by a very petite, red headed woman in leathers and on the run from something nasty, he just takes it in stride.  But his very male reaction to this pixie and their teaming up to defeat something large and nasty, seems to be right in line with his life up to now.

Siobhan O’Malley is a female druid warrior charged with protecting one of the two portals into their world from the many other realms.  Even though she is one of the best guards, soon because of who and what she is, Siobhan will be sacrificed and that is just not a fate that Siobhan is willing to accept without trying to find a way out.  This is much harder than keeping her city safe from the nasty beings who try to breach her portal.  Time is of the essence now as Siobhan’s birthday is just days away.

Shane couldn’t believe that this small woman was a great warrior and one heck of an archer.  When she asks for his help to help keep her from her druid fate, he isn’t sure at first.  However when Siobhan finds out just what needs to be done and tells Shane, he is all for helping her.  Thinking that she has stopped the ritual that was to happen just days from now, Siobhan is horrified to learn that her family is determined to have the ritual and will do so one way or another.  Siobhan and Shane end up teaming up again, this time to stop the ritual outcome and to destroy whatever it is that will answer the call.  When morning comes will Shane and Siobhan’s partnership finally be over or has these last few days given them the beginnings of a strange but wonderful and lasting partnership?

Things that go bump in the night and old rituals that should have been forgotten long ago bring two warriors together to find passion.  A Low Down Dirty Shane might have been just a few days in the lives of Shane and Siobhan but I found it to certainly be very active and wickedly fun.  I had met Shane when he first came to the vampire council’s notice and that of their name hunters.  I thought he was all brash and arrogant but I soon found out that he has a gruff exterior and a very soft middle when it came to Siobhan.  I truly believe that Siobhan might be the only woman who could match Shane for brazen acts – even for a good reason.  Their jobs might put them in danger more often than not, but I love that they are still able to keep their sense of humor.  I really enjoyed how Shane and Siobhan were able to keep her safe from the ritual and then showed just how they were so good at their jobs in order to destroy the evil that night and save the innocent.  I seriously can’t wait until the next adventure that Shane and Siobhan have; I’m sure it will be a page turner too.  A Low Down Dirty Shane mixes up danger, passion and humor as a new and kicking partnership came into being.

New York Times bestselling author Keri Arthur returns to the enthralling Guardian World—and a twilight realm of danger and desire… Risa Jones, half-Aedh/half-werewolf, can enter the realm between life and death. She can speak to the dying and the dead, and she can see the reapers, collectors of souls. What she can not yet see is the identity of a stranger murdering women and draining their blood. Now Risa must summon her gifts to find him, even if it means putting her own life in danger. But Risa needn’t look far. The killer knows who she is. He tells her his victims are infected by darkness and he’s fated to destroy them. Fascinated by Risa, he engages her in a sinister game: the chance to save the life of his next victim by deciphering his series of clues. In a race against time, she enlists the help of the reaper Azriel. But as an attraction between them grows, so does the fear that the stranger’s motives are only part of a larger, more dangerous stratagem—one that that has lured Risa and Azriel into the dark.

Half Aedh, Half Werewolf Risa Jones is back with her own personal Reaper Azriel by her side.  Risa’s Aedh powers allow her to walk through the grey realm.  Unfortunately, her latest trip through the gray fields puts her head-to-head with a psychotic serial killer.  This killer wants to play a game of cat and mouse with Risa.  All Risa needs is one more person trying to kill her or get her to work for them! Her plate is kind of full in that arena what with her own father trying to manipulate her.  Risa rarely knows who she can trust but she better find out fast or this could be her last trip to the fields.

The Dark Angels series is better than ever in Keri Arthur’s Darkness Hunts!  Ms. Arthur heats up the story as Risa and Azriel are facing their feelings for each and at the same time battling evil.  I love that we finally get some insight into the character of Lucian, Risa’s sometimes bed mate.  There is so much happening in Darkness Hunts it is bloody impossible to put the book down before the end.  So many times I was shouting at the book, OMG! Not only does Darkness Hunts ply you with out of this world action but it makes the reader sizzle with its unending passion.

Keri Arthur’s Darkness Hunts is powerful top-notch urban fantasy storytelling at its best! Arthur’s extensive world and character building makes her a standout in the Urban Fantasy/Paranormal genre.  Risa Jones is the kind of character that keeps readers coming back for more. Prepare yourself for edge of your seat thrills and thirst-quenching desire as Risa Jones takes on her latest adversaries in Darkness Hunts.
