THE FAMILY MAN by Kelly EadonThe Family Man by Kelly Eadon
Series: Belmont Beach #2
Published by Forever Genres: Contemporary

After reading The Wedding Date by Kelly Eadon I just knew I wanted to read more of the Belmont Beach series. The Family Man happened to come to me at the right time when I was unsure what kind of book I wanted to dive into and I have to say I loved The Family Man. It was sweet, funny and heartwarming and I loved seeing this single dad’s perspective on dating and working while trying to raise his little girl.

Beth Beverley made some bad business mistakes in the past but she has finally found something that she is good at and it seems that her baked goods are in demand. Baking isn’t the only thing Beth is doing; she is also teaching theater for the kids in the community and sewing, in other words she is a woman of many talents. Beth has been selling her fabulous treats to coffee shop owner, Griffin Hall for some time and crushing on him just as hard but she is about to find out that she isn’t the only woman in his life.

Griffin Hall started his coffee shop and left his musical past behind to raise his little girl and give her the stability she needs. He hasn’t dated much but he looks forward to seeing Beth weekly when she delivers her muffins to him. Once Griffin learns that his feelings aren’t one sided he decides to go all in with Beth and get a chance to know her. But he comes with some baggage and while he hasn’t lied to Beth he just hasn’t dished all the dirty details of his past. When the past comes knocking at his door Griffin hopes Beth will understand or will it be too much for them both to handle?

Beth and Griffin were the ideal romantic couple, sure they had their differences but I really liked how they just meshed together. Beth was fun and dabbled in a few different things but she was never flighty or boring. I love that Ms. Eadon wrote Griffin as a single father because I have such a soft spot for single parent romances. I understood his struggles in wanting to be a good father and always be there for his daughter yet needing grown up time with Beth. Both characters were well written and really likable.

The romance was slow building and really made it seem real and believable from the start. The Family Man had just the right amount of humor and just enough conflict that kept me turning the pages. The love scenes weren’t over the top but were done tastefully and I enjoyed how the story wasn’t focused on them as much. They did show how their new found relationship was progressing and how much Griffin and Beth did care for one another.

The Family Man is a witty and adorable read that captured my attention from the beginning. Ms. Eadon’s voice is new and her story telling is flawless. The Family Man has a cast of characters that will make you laugh and fill your heart with plenty of joy. Ms. Eadon is an author to be on the lookout for future books and I for one can’t wait to read the next story in this funny and heartwarming series.

WICKED COWBOY CHARM by Carolyn BrownWicked Cowboy Charm by Carolyn Brown
Series: Lucky Penny Ranch #4
Published by Forever Genres: Contemporary

Josie Dawson is new to Dry Creek after her brother found love on the Lucky Penny Ranch she knows she could be next but she is there to do a job. After meeting the charming and sweet Deke Sullivan she can see why all the women in this town want to be with him but she isn’t about to let herself fall for him. When she travels to look at some ranch stock and ends up snowed in with this lady charmer she finds resisting him even more impossible then she thought.

Deke Sullivan might have a reputation as a charmer but he is secretly looking for the one. Sadly Deke hasn’t found her yet. He doesn’t ask for much but she has to love animals and understand the ranch life. When Josie walks into his life he feels that maybe she could be the one, but it’s harder than he thought it was going to be to win her heart.

When I started the Lucky Penny Ranch series by Carolyn Brown I knew right away I loved Deke and couldn’t wait for his story to unfold. Wicked Cowboy Charm was a sweet romantic read that captivated me right from the beginning but I feel that had a lot to do with me loving him already.

I did have a few issues with some of the things that happened while they were snowed in, yes they were funny, but they just seemed a little too much at certain times. As far as the characters went I love the time that Deke took to win Josie over. It was normal paced and he showed her what kind of man he really was.

Wicked Cowboy Charm was filled with great dialogue and funny moments that had me remembering why each and every time I run to pick up Ms. Brown’s books. I loved the conflict that Josie was feeling in wondering if she should really give Deke a chance but I can tell you right now she was a very lucky lady to end up with Deke. Wicked Cowboy Charm is the last of the Lucky Penny Ranch but don’t worry readers there will be more cowboys coming from Ms. Brown in the future and for that I can’t wait.

HOME RUN by Heidi McLaughlinHome Run by Heidi McLaughlin
Series: The Boys of Summer #2
Published by Forever Genres: Contemporary

Cooper Bailey didn’t always want to play baseball but after his mother passed away he and his father bonded over it as a way to heal. Now he has just been called up to the majors and he definitely has to prove himself. The team is currently having spring training in Florida where there is practice, media, and giving back to the community. When his team heads to the zoo to meet with under privileged children and spend the day with them, Cooper meets Ainsley who organized the event. Cooper knows he needs to concentrate on keeping himself on the roster but one look at Ainsley and he knows he wants to get to know her better. When Ainsley rebuffs his advances he knows he will have to work harder to convince her to at least go on one date with him but will dating Ainsley start to become his down fall?

Ainsley Burke had to step down from her job as a zoo keeper to help take care of her dying mother. She doesn’t have much time for anything other than the part time hours she puts in at the zoo while her mother’s home health nurse is there. Ainsley organized for the team to visit the zoo and she will admit she might have done a little research on the newly acquired Cooper Bailey. When Cooper starts to show interest in her she knows she has to shut it down but it never occurred to her that he would be so persistent. They start dating and everything seems to be going well until her mother passes away and she pushes Cooper back where he belongs – to his game. But now Ainsley needs Cooper more than ever but is he willing to give her a chance to explain?

Home Run was more emotional than I thought it was going to be when I started reading, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. It was also sexy, funny and had really great characters in Ainsley and Cooper. I really enjoyed them and the chemistry that they had. From the very beginning when they meet you can see how interested they are in one another yet they both have reasons not to pursue a relationship but give it a chance any way. I liked that Cooper wasn’t your typical ball player, he was actually kind of awkward which made him even cuter. From the beginning he knew Ainsley could be the one and didn’t give up until she pushed him far away. I get why Ainsley pushed Cooper away but I couldn’t help but feel bad for both of them because they were so into one another and torn on how to handle what was going on.

Of course the best part about Home Run was the romance but Heidi McLaughlin did incorporate a lot of baseball and spring training rituals that made it realistic and fun. As far as the drama there was very little to none which I liked. The only thing that kept them apart was the different ways that their lives were pulling them. There wasn’t a moment in Home Run where I was bored and left unsatisfied. I actually liked Home Run much better than the previous book in The Boys of Summer series.

Overall, Home Run was a fantastic sports romance that I would happily recommend to all my friends even if they aren’t baseball fans like I am. Cooper is drool worthy and Ainsley had a good heart. Will they be the power couple of The Boys of Summer series or will they have some competition in the future? All I know is that I can’t wait for the next story in this series!

MORE THAN A FEELING by Sara RichardsonMore Than a Feeling by Sara Richardson
Series: Heart of the Rockies #3
Published by Forever Genres: Contemporary

One day Ruby James just showed up out of the blue in Aspen, Colorado and since then she has made the Walker Mountain Ranch her home. She has been the chef there for a year but when things start coming up missing Ruby is scared they will find out about her past and who she really is. There is just one problem, the closer she gets to Sawyer the more she starts to care and come clean, but she has no idea how it will unfold in the end.

Sawyer Hawkins is a damn good police officer but after what his ex-wife put him though he needs a change. He has no idea if he will be able to trust again but the more time he spends with Ruby the more he wants to trust her. With only a month left on the force before he transfers to Denver he needs to get to the bottom of who is stealing from the Walker Mountain Ranch. With the days that go by he is slowly working his way through the suspect list and with Ruby’s help this case will be wrapped up in no time. But the more time Sawyer spends with Ruby the more he wants to stay right where he belongs.

From the moment I started More Than a Feeling I was quickly taken to the Rockies. The descriptions were one of the best parts of More Than a Feeling, they made me feel as if I was actually there taking in the scenery and fresh mountain air. But of course the romance was what I was really into. Both Sawyer and Ruby are different yet they have not being able to trust in common and it showed in the way they came together; it was sweet and yet they both held back because of their pasts.

While reading, I couldn’t wait to find out what Ruby’s story was and Sara Richardson didn’t disappoint in everything she went through and showed just how strong Ruby was. She was smart and loyal, but the one thing I loved about her was the way she tried to overcome her fears and her past. Little by little you could see her pushing past the walls she built and starting to let people in.

More Than a Feeling was a cute read that captured me from the moment I started. Some parts were a little predictable and I wish her ex was written a little differently but overall I thought More Than a Feeling was a great addition to the Heart of the Rockies series. This series has really captured me with its wonderfully written and developed characters, witty dialogue and the charming scenery. I am really looking forward to seeing what Ms. Richardson will come out with next.
