Southern town seeks single women.Though they're nothing but trouble…The hardheaded Armstrong brothers are determined to rebuild their tornado–ravaged hometown in the Georgia mountains. They've got the means, they've got the manpower…what they need are women! So they place an ad in a Northern newspaper and wait for the ladies to arrive…Eldest brother Marcus Armstrong considers the estrogen–influx an irritating distraction. He's running a town, not a dating service!Reporter Alicia Randall thinks the Armstrong brothers are running a scam and she intends to prove it—even if it means seducing oh–so–sexy Marcus in the process. Sizzling sex and a hot story? Win–win! At least it is, until she falls for the guy. Will love trump betrayal when the truth comes out?

Of the three Armstrong brothers, Marcus is the most determined to rebuild their hometown of Sweetness, Georgia, which was wiped out by a hurricane a decade before.  Now, Sweetness is being rebuilt and since Marcus’s brothers placed an ad for women to join their town, it seems like things are coming together.  Businesses are being built, romance is in the air, and the men and women of Sweetness seem to be working together perfectly.  But there’s still so much to do and the deadlines to keep their government grants are fast approaching.  Now more than ever, the people of Sweetness need Marcus to be working at full strength.  Of course, just when Marcus can’t afford any distractions, one practically knocks him off his feet.

Manhattan reporter Alicia Randall can’t believe her eyes when she hears about a Southern town that imported women.  She’s convinced there’s something fishy going on in Sweetness; either the Armstrongs are running a scam or a cult or something.  So Alicia sets out to do what she does best: go undercover.  She’s determined to get close to Marcus Armstrong and discover what the almost-throwback idyllic of Sweetness is about.  But Alicia never counts on finding out that Sweetness is more than what she thought it would be.  As she falls in love with the town – and its leader – a growing sense of dread lurks in the background.  What will happen when Marcus discovers she’s lied to him from the start?

Stephanie Bond ends her wonderful Southern Roads trilogy with the dynamic Baby, Don’t Go. The energy of Baby, Don’t Go had me hooked from page one and the sparks that fly between Marcus and Alicia kept me captivated all the way through.  I read Baby, Don’t Go in one sitting, only to find myself terribly upset that the series I’ve adored is now at an end.  Ms. Bond has made me fall in love with the Armstrong brothers, their heroines, and the entire population of Sweetness, and all of the aforementioned people are strongly featured in Baby, Don’t Go.

Having fallen in love with Sweetness in the first two Southern Roads books, Baby, Drive Southand Baby, Come Home (not to mention the series’ prequel, Baby, I’m Yours), I wasn’t sure how Ms. Bond would make Alicia likeable.  She comes to Sweetness with a cynical, almost superior attitude, sure that she knows better than the “misguided” women who moved to the isolated town.  It’s an incredible feat that Ms. Bond makes Alicia likeable, even when she’s wrong and even though she effectively lies to everyone.  It was easy for me to become attached to her, and I wanted her to end up with Marcus.  And boy, did Marcus need someone who knocked him off his stride.  He’s practically got the weight of the whole town resting on his shoulders and I wanted to see him let loose, just a touch.

Though Baby , Don’t Go can be read as a standalone, part of the reason I devoured the book in one sitting was because I’d become invested in seeing whether Sweetness would make its deadlines and become a picturesque, welcoming town haven once more.  I had a lot of expectations coming into Baby, Don’t Go, as it is (presumably) the final book in the series. Ms. Bond fulfilled most of them.  Sadly, the ending of Baby, Don’t Go felt rushed and there were some plot threads that were either left untied or felt only partially wrapped up.  I wish there was another book or novella yet to come that would make the series feel truly complete.  Still, even with this complaint, I greatly enjoyed Baby, Don’t Go.  Alicia and Marcus charmed me as a couple and I’ve greatly enjoyed the time I’ve spent in Ms. Bond’s delightful Southern town.

Wanted: Single women of any age to take part in a four-week clinical study.Ellie Sutherland wasn't exactly desperate… yet. But after fourteen months, five days and two hours of being without a man, she was getting pretty close. So when she had a chance to try out a pill that attracted the opposite sex, Ellie didn't waste any time signing up. After all, she had nowhere to go but up!Almost immediately, men started falling at her feet. She even had sexy Mark Blackwell eating out of her hand. And before long, she'd fallen head over heels in love with him, too. Ellie's life was a perfect, at least for a while. But when the pills ran out, would Mark still find her irresistible?

Artist Ellie Sutherland hasn’t had the best luck with men lately and after losing her job due to budget cuts, she’s also in need of cash.  So when she discovers there’s a four-week clinical study that involves pheromone pills, she’s in.  The pills seem to work better than Ellie could ever have dreamed.  They even seem to work on stuffy lawyer Mark Blackwell, who commissions Ellie to paint his portrait.  But the more time Ellie spends with Mark, the more she sees that he isn’t so much stuffy as sexy.  But how can she get involved with Mark, knowing that it’s only a matter of time before the study ends and she’s no longer quite so irresistible?

Irresistible? is a delightful romantic comedy, featuring a heroine who is sure to capture readers’ hearts.  Ellie is spunky, kind, a bit flighty, and utterly likeable.  She sometimes seems to have the worst luck, which is fodder for some entertaining scenes, but mostly just made me feel bad for her.  On the other hand, Ellie does get some serious compensation for what she goes through in the form of Mark.  Mark’s staid exterior covers a wonderfully passionate interior.  At times, Mark’s also simply adorable.  I adored he and Ellie together and Stephanie Bond had me hooked as I watched their rather sprightly courtship.

Irresistible? was originally published in the 1990s and is now being digitally re-issued.  I will admit, the kinds of fashion that were emphasized in the story did give Irresistible? a bit of a dated feel.  Still, this didn’t detract from my reading experience; Irresistible? is a lively, charming read.

The Heart of a Killer is a complex, clever and captivating novel that will leave you breathless. The Heart of a Killer starts a brand new series from Jaci Burton that will have your heart rate jumping as the story unfolds. In true Ms. Burton fashion, The Heart of a Killer weaves a sexy suspense with heart melting romance to create a stunning story. I’m totally in love with Dante and Anna. They are such strong characters with deep histories and bright futures. Their journey is long and arduous but so worth it! I can’t wait to see what’s next in this killer series.

Once upon a time…the Blood Sorcerer vanquished the kingdom of Elden. To save their children, the queen scattered them to safety and the king filled them with vengeance. Only a magical timepiece connects the four royal heirs…and time is running out.… As the dark Lord who condemns souls to damnation in the Abyss, Micah is nothing but a feared monster wrapped in impenetrable black armor. He has no idea he is the last heir of Elden, its last hope. Only one woman knows—the daughter of his enemy. Liliana is nothing like her father, the Blood Sorcerer who'd cursed Micah. She sees past Micah's armor to the prince inside. A prince whose sinful touch she craves. But first she has to brave his dark, dangerous lair and help him remember. Because they only have till midnight to save Elden.

As Lord of the Black Castle, the Guardian of the Abyss hunts the souls damned to spend eternity in the Abyss.  He has no memory of his childhood, where he was Micah, the youngest prince of Elden.  Nor does he remember the Blood Sorcerer’s army attacking his parents’ castle or his parents’ murders.  He is simply the Guardian.  Until the Blood Sorcerer’s daughter enters his life and changes everything.

Liliana holds no love for her father.  Often a victim of his twisted games, she is fully aware of his evil.  She also knows that time is running out for the four royal siblings to come together and reclaim Elden.  Liliana risks everything to find Micah and help him remember who he is. There’s one thing she didn’t count on, however: that she would fall for Micah.  Will Micah condemn her being the daughter of his enemy?  If her father has his way, Liliana won’t live long enough to find out.

The Royal House of Shadows series reaches its climax with Lord of the Abyss.  I admit, I’d been eagerly awaiting Nalini Singh’s installment to this multi-author quartet.  Ms. Singh’s twist on “Beauty and the Beast” charmed me.  I loved that Liliana was unattractive and that the stunning Micah fell hard for her.  Life at the Black Castle was also wonderful to read about, which is only strange if you remember that it is at the edge of the Abyss.  The romantic plotline with Micah and Liliana was also surprisingly sweet in its own way, though not as memorable as Ms. Singh’s romances usually are.

As one would expect, a lot of Lord of the Abyss is about Liliana and Micah needing to defeat the Blood Sorcerer.  There are bloody skirmishes leading up to the final battle, but for some reason the ultimate battle against good and evil wasn’t as exciting as I’d expected it to be.  In addition to expecting more of a fight, as this is the final book in the series, I’d expected to see more interaction between Micah and his siblings than there was.

Lord of the Abyss is the fourth book in the Royal House of Shadows quartet, but each book can be read as a standalone.  This is somewhat of a pity because it seems like the overarching storyline could have been stronger if the books were a bit more connected (especially when it comes to Micah’s book).

Lord of the Abyss is a good story and I was a satisfied reader for the most part.  I am a huge fan of Ms. Singh’s so perhaps if this book were not written by her, I would have really enjoyed. Lord of the Abyss is a solid read, but for me, isn’t excellent like almost all of Ms. Singh’s books are.  Still, readers of the Royal House of Shadows books are likely to be happy with the conclusion of this dark fantasy series.
