FBI agents, Emma Sharpe and Colin Donovan, are on the final day of their honeymoon and are halfway looking forward to several meetings they have set up with colleagues in London the next day before flying home and starting work and their new lives together.  But, as normal with their anticipated schedules, their plans are changed with the notification that Oliver York, a wealthy man they know is an international art thief as well as a semi-friend, has been involved with a death.  On top of that, just earlier that same day, they discover that Emma’s grandfather has experienced a break-in at his house.  There is no way they could be connected…or could they?

Emma and Colin immediately travel to Oliver York’s farm, where the death occurred, and try to help out however they can, but not to step on any toes.  When they get to the scene, Oliver’s on the run, an ex-MI5 agent is one of the witnesses, and no one can identify the dead man.  It’s a twisty journey that will take the various characters from London to York to Ireland to Scotland and even to the U.S. before the final answers will be discovered on why this man was killed and who was behind it.  The why of the killing makes Oliver relive the terrible night more than thirty years ago, when he witnessed his parents’ murder, and he was kidnapped.  Only the help of Emma, Colin, his trusted manager and the new love of his life, his childhood friend Henrietta, will help Oliver discover the truth about what happened that deadly night that has haunted him for so long.

A woman trying to make a go at her second profession and a reclusive, and former unacknowledged art thief, come together over a death in Thief’s Mark.  Oliver has spent his life trying to put what happened the night he became an orphan behind him.  His path has been a unique one, to be sure, and one that placed him in contact with Emma Sharpe and Colin Donovan, as well as Emma’s grandfather, Wendell Sharpe. Henrietta’s path was not as twisty, but unusual on its own with equal parts of law enforcement and gardening.  I have to admit that I have often wondered if Oliver would ever have a happy ending as I have come to know him in the previous books.  I loved watching as Oliver not only discovered the truth about the night he was kidnapped, but to also open himself up to the love that was right there waiting for him.  I also loved watching as Henrietta put her talents towards proving that Oliver had nothing to do with the latest killing and to help him fill in the final holes of that pivotal night.  While Emma and Colin were definitely there and involved in solving the murder, this book was totally about Oliver and Henrietta’s love story and a great way to get Emma and Colin back at things after their honeymoon.  Thief’s Mark has all of the things I have come to expect from a Sharpe & Donovan book: thrilling suspense, humor, and just the right amount of romance to keep things from getting too gritty.  While I loved that Oliver has his happy ending, there are still a couple of characters that I am waiting to get theirs.

When I saw Tiffany Reisz was coming out with the Men at Work series I knew I had to read each book as soon as possible. Each story in this series takes place over the holidays and One Hot December is the third book in the series and it takes place at Christmas time which I absolutely loved especially since Christmas was right around the corner when I read it.

Veronica “Flash” Redding is a welder and talented artist, but she hasn’t got her big break as of yet. After spending one night with Ian Asher she can’t get him out of her head. But the problem is now he is her boss and it’s time for Veronica to move on both personally and professionally so she has accepted a new job at a plant nursery in order to have more time to create her sculptures.

Ian Asher worked his way up to become the boss of the construction company and it didn’t happen easily. He and Flash gave into their attraction to one another one night but he had to end things before it went any further and ever since then he can’t get this stubborn sexy woman off his mind. Now with Flash giving her two weeks’ notice Ian knows letting her walk out of his life would be a mistake, but is Flash willing to give him a second chance or will she not look back when her two weeks come to an end?

One Hot December was a good addition to the Men at Work series but I didn’t really connect with it as I did the previous books. Flash wanted to be strong and tough but I did enjoy when she started to let her guard down. Ian was a vault with his feelings but when he started to open up and try to get Flash back in his life he was downright swoon worthy. Flash and Ian did have great chemistry between them and of course in true Reisz fashion things got very steamy.

Overall, One Hot December will make you swoon, laugh, and get you in the holiday spirit. Ms. Reisz developed wonderful characters and I really enjoyed the holidays with them. If you are looking for a steamy yet festive read you won’t want to miss One Hot December and the previous books in the Men at Work series.

Alice Appleton has a dark past she would like to keep there. Her current life is quiet and predictable just the way she wants it. There is only one complication and that is her sexy-as-sin neighbor. He inspires desires she thought were gone forever.

Detective Reece Bareden came close to losing it all but his neighbor saved the day. Now he wants to learn more about the quiet Alice. The more time he spends around Alice the more he wants to uncover everything about the sweet nymph. But will he like what he discovers about her?

Alice finds trouble and Reece is willing to do anything to keep this woman safe but will she let him? If Reece and Alice hope to find a happily ever after they will both have to Bare It All.

Lori Foster’s Bare It All is contemporary romance at its best! Sexy-as hell-hero? Check. Sweet but haunted heroine? Check. A thrilling plot? Check. Mix them all together and you get a guaranteed afternoon of edge of your seat enjoyment.

I absolutely love the fact that Ms. Foster gave Alice a bigger story. I first met Alice in the Men Who Walk the Edge of Honor series. It was great to find Alice happy and to watch her fall in love with Reece. I really love Reece! The way he treats Alice is so special and will make the readers fall in love with this couple.

Alice’s story arc is so great in this novel. She really surprised me by how strong she has become. The moments between Alice and Reece are so wonderful. I really became immersed in this novel from page one. I simply couldn’t put it down. Bare It All is a first-class romance and you don’t want to miss out!

Successful photo journalist Natalie Jones is suffering from a rare genetic disorder that causes vision loss. The day when she becomes totally blind is getting closer. A day at the farmer’s market while documenting the life of Plainville through her lens, Natalie witnesses far more than she even knows. Unfortunately, on that day pain struck and her vision was changed forever. Now all she can see are grey shadows and that makes it harder to protect herself when someone puts a target on her.

Special Agent Liam “Mac” Mackenzie is on the trail of a murderer. The clues lead him directly to the doorstep of the beautiful Natalie Jones. After she is attacked it becomes clear that she is somehow involved in his case. Mac can’t seem to control himself around the photographer. He is drawn to her in a visceral way. Never before has Mac felt the need to possess and protect so fiercely. Mac’s number one job is to find a murderer but protecting Natalie is rapidly becoming more important. While protecting his vulnerable witness he discovers more about the case and himself.

As Mac and Natalie search for clues as to why she was targeted, they get closer to a killer. Will Mac be able to protect Natalie from a killer she can’t see? Will Mac and Natalie find love while attempting to stay one step ahead of a killer?

Virna DePaul does an excellent job of creating vulnerable characters and enthralling plotlines in Shades of Desire. I love that Natalie is a blind woman not yet comfortable with her condition. Most novels that I have read where the hero or heroine is blind they are already acclimated to their condition, but here Natalie is still dealing with her feelings about becoming blind and she is learning how to live in the world as a blind person. I found this all very interesting and when you throw in the danger, it creates great dramatic tension.

There is excellent chemistry in Shades of Desire between Natalie and Mac. The reader can feel all of Natalie’s senses as she takes in Mac and her attraction to him becomes heady. I love the emotions that Mac goes through in the story. He isn’t keen on settling down after a bad previous relationship but you can feel the pull when he is around Natalie. These two balance each other extremely well.

Another thing Shades of Desire does really well is build up the secondary characters! I cannot wait to learn more about the other members of Mac’s team the Special Investigatiions Group. All of these characters are likable and sparked quite a bit of chemistry among themselves. I am eagerly anticipating what happens next!
Not only does Shades of Desire have outstanding characters but it also has one heck of a mysterious plotline. Ms. DePaul created palpable tension with her nefarious evil doers in Shades of Desire. I was disturbed and intrigued with her bad guys and I couldn’t wait to unravel the evil plot hidden in the shadows!

Shades of Desire is a modern love story built on rock-solid characters and plum writing skills! I will be anxiously waiting for the next Special Investigations Group novel!
