American artist Jeremy Keane is far more interested in completing his next masterpiece than running the family textile mills.  He’s also far more interested in rakish pursuits than settling down.  It would take someone out of the ordinary to capture his interest, and Lady Yvette Barlow is exactly that person.  Jeremy is captivated by her from the first and is desperate to paint her.  Now if only he can convince her…

Yvette can spot a scoundrel a mile away and having been burned once by a rake she is in no hurry to repeat the experience.  But Jeremy catches her off-guard, tempts her and challenges her in ways she’s never known.  And the more time they spend together, the harder it is for either of them to resist the passion brewing between them.  But both Jeremy and Yvette have ghosts that haunt them.  Ghosts that might keep them from ever risking their hearts for a chance at love.

Sabrina Jeffries kicks off her Sinful Suitors series with the utterly charming The Art of Sinning.  Yvette and Jeremy are winning characters and their romance was lovely to watch unfold.  Yvette is outspoken, bright, and a truly fun heroine.  It’s easy to see why Jeremy is taken with her.  She’s no ordinary woman but a veritable Juno (to borrow Jeremy’s favorite description of her).  Not to mention her unusual interests – her work to build a slang dictionary had me grinning.  Yvette has a lot of love to give, but she was badly betrayed in the past and thus is wary of rakes.  And boy is Jeremy a rake in the beginning.  He’s a bold artist, one who wears the mask of rogue rather well.  But beneath the surface is a man with scars caused by the death of his wife and child – scars that have never truly healed.  I loved watching both Yvette and Jeremy come into their own as they worked to leave the past behind, though taking leaps of faith comes more easily to Yvette than Jeremy.

As individuals, Yvette and Jeremy are great characters. But as a couple, they shine.  Their banter made me grin more than once over the course of the story.  They’re so well-matched in every way that it’s easy to root for them.  Their love story develops organically; I liked that they fit as both friends and lovers.  It isn’t easy for them to get their happily ever after, but Ms. Jeffries makes every bump in the road worth it.  The result is a romance that’s emotional as well as sensual and I couldn’t have been more pleased.  I finished The Art of Sinning one well-satisfied reader and I cannot wait to see what Ms. Jeffries has in store for Yvette’s brother, Edwin.

Three estranged sisters inherit their late father’s failing hockey franchise and are forced to confront a man’s world, their family’s demons, and the battle-hardened ice warriors skating into their hearts.

Harper Chase has just become the most powerful woman in the NHL after the death of her father Clifford Chase, maverick owner of the Chicago Rebels. But the team is a hot mess—underfunded, overweight, and close to tapping out of the league. Hell-bent on turning the luckless franchise around, Harper won’t let anything stand in her way. Not her gender, not her sisters, and especially not a veteran player with an attitude problem and a smoldering gaze designed to melt her ice-compacted defenses.

Veteran center Remy “Jinx” DuPre is on the downside of a career that’s seen him win big sponsorships, fans’ hearts, and more than a few notches on his stick. Only one goal has eluded him: the Stanley Cup. Sure, he’s been labeled as the unluckiest guy in the league, but with his recent streak of good play, he knows this is his year. So why the hell is he being shunted off to a failing hockey franchise run by a ball-buster in heels? And is she seriously expecting him to lead her band of misfit losers to a coveted spot in the playoffs?

He’d have a better chance of leading Harper on a merry skate to his bed…

I was attracted to Kate Meader’s Irresistible You from the description.  I thought it was unique for three estranged sisters to inherit a hockey team, be forced to work and live together.  This basically guaranteed lots of emotion and I love a story that gives the feels. Ms. Meader didn’t disappoint.  Irresistible You is just freaking great.  I will be the first to say that I am a bit of a suspense junkie so a straight up contemporary is unusual for me.  However, the blurb hooked me and the seductive chemistry between Harper and Remy kept me turning the pages.

Irresistible You didn’t have as much of the sister storyline as I anticipated but Meader more than made up for it with the romance.  The scenes where all three sisters are together are hilarious especially pottery night 😊 Each of the girls are wildly different which I find intriguing. I cannot wait to find out what happens when they find their men.

Harper and Remy are two fascinating characters.  Each are stereotyped by their peers and each other.  As they pull apart each other’s layers the emotional and sexual tension becomes palpable and downright irresistible. Pun intended 😊 Ms. Meader is very good at creating a bond between the reader and her characters.  For instance, Remy’s family is simply gold.  It’s impossible not to fall in love with them and it’s easy to see how he became a good man.  While he thrived from his family and their support Harper thrived from her determination to surpass all her naysayers.  The number one naysayer being her father.  Irresistible You is a heady romance that will make you weak in the knees but it is also a powerful story built around strong characters.

Kate Meader’s Chicago Rebels series is a Hit! I Loved it and I’m Joyfully Recommending it! Irresistible You is a sexy, sassy, oh so tasty feast.

TO LOVE AND TO CHERISH by Lauren LayneTo Love and To Cherish by Lauren Layne

The end of the Wedding Belles series? Say it isn’t so! After I started the first book in this series I just knew it was going to be addicting and boy was I right. Lauren Layne brings strong and successful women together who are charming, witty, and know how to get the job done. While their own personal love lives have been anything but successful these Belles show that it just takes the right moment and the right guy to have them humming the wedding march themselves.

In the latest and last book, To Love and to Cherish, I believe Layne saved the best Belle for last. We get an inside look at how Alexis Morgan started her dream business in a bar with a strange man, cheap wine, and good bar food. . Logan Harris had no idea his life was going to change when he sat next to the beautiful woman at the bar, but it’s about time Alex sees him as more than just her silent partner and accountant but as the man who has been in love with her since the day they met. Logan will stop at nothing to finally get her to notice him and after a few kisses Alex is finally looking at him differently so when Alex’s sister’s wedding in Florida comes up, Logan has the perfect plan and if it doesn’t work out he’s headed back to England.

Ever since the first book, To Have and to Hold, I have been dying for this one! Watching Logan pine for Alex was one of the sweetest things and at times I felt bad that his feelings were either ignored or not reciprocated. Logan came off as proper and quite but when he really started to open up and show his feelings he was just wow! I liked that he came from a family of money but took his own path the entire time and made himself successful by making investments or starting his own business adventures. Alex was a harder nut to crack at times. She was always so very well put together so when Logan started to help her unwind I think I enjoyed her a lot more.

When Logan and Alex really got their romance going I felt they had the right amount of sexual tension to balance out the chemistry and pull between them. They might have a lot in common and have been good friends for so many years but the challenges between them and getting to know each other more on a personal and intimidate level was something I really enjoyed. Overall, I just loved these two and they are in the running for favorite couple in this series.

Layne brings a fresh new look into the lives of Wedding Planners in To Love and to Cherish. Her characters are likable and enjoyable and I totally wish this series would go on forever. The romance was balanced well with the pace of the book and while there wasn’t really a huge conflict, this story just really worked. To Love and to Cherish will leave you feeling good and I’m starting a petition to keep this series going. Layne is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors and that’s why I not only have to recommend To Love and to Cherish to everyone, but this entire series!

Once upon a time, Dominick Manton had it all: a promising future and the love of his fiancée, Jane Vernon.  Then Dom’s life came crashing down around him, his inheritance stolen and the career he was to have taken from him.  He had no other choice than to trick Jane into jilting him before he dragged her down with him.

Twelve years later, Dom’s brother – the author of all the ills he and his half-siblings suffered – is gone and Dom has not only a successful investigation business, but the viscountcy as well.  There’s just one thing missing from his life: Jane.  She’s engaged to another and Dom won’t let himself think on what he lost by pushing her away all those years ago.  But fate hands him a chance when Jane comes to him for help.  Nancy, her cousin and Dom’s widowed sister-in-law, is missing.  For the first time in well over a decade, Dom and Jane must work together to solve a mystery that could change their lives forever.  And close quarters might just mean that Dom has a chance to win back the heart of the only woman who has ever held his.

I absolutely love a good second chance romance, and If the Viscount Falls is a great one.  Sabrina Jeffries’s final Duke’s Men novel brings this fantastic series to a satisfying close with a romance between two headstrong characters that is sure to make you smile.

I’ve been intrigued by Dom since meeting him in ‘Twas the Night After Christmas (the final Hellions of Halstead Hall book).  Dom can be serious and autocratic, but he’s had to be to survive and thrive in the conditions his brother’s betrayal threw him all those years ago.  Dom may be bossy, but he’ll sacrifice himself in a heartbeat for others.  He’s got a good heart, and when combined with his sharp mind and hidden sensuality, he makes an excellent hero.  It takes a strong heroine to match Dom, and Jane is exactly that.  She’s an intelligent woman who doesn’t back down from anyone or anything.  Long ago, she might have allowed Dom to sweep her up, but now with her feet firmly planted on the ground, he has to work to win her heart.  They’ve been apart twelve years, and it’s not a simple matter of true love making everything right.  Dom and Jane have to work for their happily ever after, and I loved that about them.  Their romance is passionate and engaging, and the back-and-forth between them makes the pages of If the Viscount Falls fly by.

A dash of mystery the missing Nancy and her possible condition provide rounds out If the Viscount Falls.  The Nancy plot isn’t a contrivance that throws Jane and Dom together only to be forgotten.  Instead it’s a storyline (which I won’t spoil) that has real consequences for Dom and Jane, and it only makes you root for these two more.  This subplot also gives previous Duke’s Men heroes and heroines a chance to play their roles in reuniting Jane and Dom, which – as a fan of the series – I adored.  You don’t have to have read What the Duke Desires, When the Rogue Returns, or How the Scoundrel Seduces in order to enjoy Dom and Jane’s story, but I believe having done so made me love the book even more.  But whether you’re a fan of the Duke’s Men series or are just looking for a wonderfully entertaining historical romance, you’re sure to enjoy If the Viscount Falls.

Award-winning author Melissa Mayhue delivers once more with her second enchanting novel of the MacDowylt clan, featuring a captive Scottish seer who awaits the man from her visions to rescue—and love—her. . . . Former special ops agent CHASE NOBLE has been searching his whole life for the place where he belongs. As a descendant of Fae, he senses fate has more in store for him. And he will not rest until he discovers what his true purpose is. When he travels back in time to medieval Scotland, he discovers his mission is to save a beautiful woman—the same woman he is destined to be with. CHRISTIANA MACDOWYLT possesses the gift of foresight. Prisoner of her evil half brother, Christiana has visions that show her that only one warrior can rescue her—a man she is mysteriously drawn to. The only problem is, he’s in the future. Now she must rely on the magic of a fairy to transport him to the past. And when Christiana finally meets Chase, the sparks between them set off a smoldering desire. But will the magic that brought them together also tear them apart?

Chase Noble, a soldier from the present, has been searching for a place to belong his whole life.  Only how was Chase to know that his place in this world is in the past?  Since he is part Fae when he is whisked back in time several hundred years, he is not too shocked.  Chase determines to find out why he was sent to the past and if it was where he was meant to be all along.

Christiana MacDowylt has a gift for seeing things that her evil half-brother, Torquil, uses for his benefit.  Seeing that there is an option to gain her freedom, she forgoes rescue by her other siblings.  Christiana can only be rescued by one man—one that she is drawn to and holds so much power in his hands.  Can Christiana be clever enough to trick Torquil in having the wolf in sheep’s clothing in his service, or will her scheme be discovered?  Will Chase be able to rescue Christiana and have what he has desired and sought his entire life?

Warrior Reborn is an engrossing time travel romance that mystified and bedeviled from the beginning.  It is the continuing saga of the Daughters of the Glen series and it explores their lives more fully.  I was eager to see an end to the villain from the last book in the series that I ventured through with Melissa Mayhue.

Warrior Reborn had some clever thoughts coming from Christiana and it was nice to see a heroine that could hold her own against most adversaries.  I truly felt that while Chase and Christiana belonged together, if she could have found another path to save the day, she would have taken it as well.  Who doesn’t like to see a female pull the wool over another character’s eyes a few times?

For the most part, you can’t go wrong with a Melissa Mayhue book if you are looking for some good old fashioned paranormal entertainment, and Warrior Reborn is no exception.
