Shelby Foxworth thought her life was changed when she found out her husband, Richard, had fallen off a boat in the Atlantic and was presumed dead.  But then Shelby really found out just how changed her life would be as she discovered the many debts that Richard had left her with and what little money he really had.  Shelby might have been living the high life during her marriage, a lie as she is now finding out, but her backbone was born and raised in Tennessee.  Shelby is determined to raise her young daughter as best she can and to pay off all the debt that she was left with.  Slowly, Shelby is making arrangements and finding money where she can live off of while paying off the debts one by one. Now it’s time for a true break, which will take Shelby and her daughter back to her small home town.

Griffin Lott is the co-owner, along with his best friend, of a construction company in a small Tennessee town, but they are coming to be known as the people to contact if you want something done on time and at a reasonable price.  This is a huge thing when you consider that both Griffin and his friend are Northerners and new to the area.  Griffin has discovered this not so sleepy little town is home for him, and he has already put down roots he hopes will grow.  Griffin isn’t even looking for a relationship when he comes face-to-face with a spunky red-head who revs up his system before they are even introduced.

The very last thing Shelby needs right now is a handsome man making her think of things best left alone.  After all, she has a huge mess to overcome, a job to find, a family to fess up to, and a young daughter to raise.  But when Griffin and Shelby meet, the sparks instantly fly and even with each of them wanting to take things slowly, both know the attraction is right there.  Just as Shelby is beginning to get her head on straight and is coming up with a game plan to move her life forward, she is confronted with even more lies from her previous life with Richard. Very soon, danger and death will be all the town talks about, and it seems to be focused on Shelby’s life with Richard.  Griffin isn’t about to let anyone or anything hurt either Shelby or her daughter if he has anything to say about it, and he uses his contacts to try and help Shelby, the local officials, and even the Feds figure out exactly what is going on and who is behind it.  The questions are:  Can the answers come in time to help Shelby, or will she and Griffin lose the love they have just found before it can grow?

A disillusioned widow and a sexy construction owner discover a strong passion, but it will only have a chance to grow if they can overcome the danger that seems to be following her.  Shelby and Griffin will have to fight for their chance to grab the golden ring of love in The Liar.  I instantly fell in love with Shelby as I watched her grapple with all the hits that were coming fast and furious as she worked her way through the mess her husband had left her.  Griffin had me as he took the time to learn about Shelby and her daughter before he made his move, and because he always included the daughter where he could.  The sparks that flared between Griffin and Shelby told me that it wouldn’t be long before they were a solid couple.  I learned even more about what made each of these people tick as they fought for their love during murder investigations, suspicious new comers, and a few pointing fingers.  The Liar is absolutely packed with suspense, murder, passion, and the joy of new love.  Not to mention an entire family that I would love to have as neighbors and get to know better.  Once again, Ms. Roberts has given us a story that keeps the reader deeply engrossed.

Grace Elland has had several jobs, but she finally believes she has found the one for her.  She currently works for a very well-known motivational speaker, Sprague Witherspoon, as the person in the background making sure that everything runs smoothly.  Grace is one of the three women who run Sprague’s office.  All is going great until Grace discovers Sprague dead in his home.  Now, not only has Grace lost her job, but she is at a loss on what she wants to do with her life.  When she has a chance to move back to her hometown, Grace does this to take the time she needs to plan out her future.

Julius Arkwright is a former Marine and a venture capitalist.  Making money comes easily to Julius, but relationships not so much.  If Julius decides he wants something, then he goes for it in business, and it usually turns out golden.  When Julius meets a new woman in town and learns about Grace and her background, he is intrigued.  Julius soon decides that he wants to get closer to Grace and see where it leads.

Grace can’t figure out why such a handsome and wealthy man would look twice at her, but she can’t deny that Julius keeps turning up at just the right times.  She also can’t deny the attraction between herself and Julius.  As Grace begins to come up with an idea on what she wants to do, suspicious things start happening and placing Grace in danger.  This is something that Julius is not about to let happen, and he puts all of his skills both as a businessman and as a former Marine to use to keep Grace safe.  Grace has always looked at the bright side of everything, while Julius has a very skeptical view of the world, but for Grace.  The danger is getting closer to Grace as she and Julius put all of the clues together and discover not only who is out to harm Grace, but also who murdered Sprague and why.

When a woman who always see the glass half full gets together with a man who see the glass as half empty and plots on how to own the glass, sparks will fly.  Grace and Julius figure out how to bring their differences together in Trust No One.  Several times I wondered how Grace could always be so positive even when faced with danger.  At the same time, I wondered if Julius could lower his walls enough to accept Grace and her sunny personality.  I didn’t need to worry about either Grace or Julius as their journey rolled along.  I really enjoyed watching as Grace showed Julius that helping people ‘just because’ was a good thing, just as I enjoyed watching as Julius showed Grace that not everyone in the world had good intentions.  As the suspense grew thicker, I really loved seeing the true partnership that Grace and Julius had created and the love that was the backbone to that partnership.  Trust No One is packed with suspense and passion that will keep you turning the pages until you learn just who done-it.

Lila Emerson has what she believes is the perfect life; she is a professional house sitter and a writer. By constantly moving and seeing new pieces of all the lives around her, Lila is allowed to dream and put her own context into what she sees. Part of that is her obsession of using binoculars to look in open windows from every house she sits. Lila knows that she has a lively and interesting mind and that the subplots she gives to those she observes isn’t reality. But when she witnesses a murder happen right before her eyes, Lila knows that reality has hit hard. Lila also knows that she must call the police and tell them what she witnessed.

Ashton Archer is part of a huge and extremely dysfunctional family. Ashton is an artist who tries to separate himself from the day to day lives of his parents, steps, siblings and half siblings, and all of their so-called troubles and worries. When Ashton receives a call that his brother has been found dead in an apartment of the woman he was seeing and that she was also found murdered, Ashton drops everything to take the front in finding out what was done and making all of the arrangements. The story of what happened is confusing to Ashton from what he knows about his brother and what his parents have been telling him. When Ashton sees the only witness, it seems like a logical step to talk with her and find out if she can fill in the missing pieces.

Lila and Ashton become an unstoppable team determined to find out just who killed two young people that day and why it appears that Lila is now on the hit list. Lila immerses herself into Ashton’s life and uses all the skills she has gained in her years of mixing with the wealthy families that live and work in the same circle as Ashton’s.  As each clue leads them closer to a murderer, the danger also becomes closer until it appears to be a race on what will happen next. They need to find the true murderer and that person’s boss and bring them down before an unfortunate end to Lila and Ashton’s search and hot romance is arranged by those same people. It appears that the love of Ashton’s brother and his girlfriend brought them together and the love that Ashton and Lila discovered along the way might just be the one thing that will help them survive.

A professional house sitter and an artist who make their professions by embracing fantasy and what their minds come up with learn that sometimes the best things happen in reality in The Collector.  I wasn’t sure about Lila’s lifestyle at first until I learned just what was behind it and how much of herself she put into each of the people she sits for and their belongings and pets. I could totally understand why Ashton tried to separate himself from his family and their upside down lives. Yet, I knew that nothing was going to stop the two of them once they teamed up to find not only a murderer but who was behind even that person. I wasn’t wrong, but I truly loved all the twists and turns that Ashton and Lila were forced through before they finally had not only the who’s, but the why’s behind the dual murders that brought them together in the first place.  I would dearly love to be able to peek into their lives a couple years down the road to see just how they were able to combine them.  I bet it would be one interesting lifestyle that was all theirs.  The Collector is a perfect mixture of suspense, deadly danger and a passion born of them which blossomed into a lasting love.
