Expert scuba diver Steph Anderson is down in the Cayman Islands to promote Ariel’s Island Eco-Adventure Tours.  Introducing exquisite reefs and marine life to enthusiastic tourists is a professional high.  She is also trying to figure out what’s going on with a cache of diamonds, including one she had in her own safe – before it was stolen.  At first she blamed her lover, but it’s become apparent that her ex-stepfather has to be involved.

Bounty hunter Jake Harlowe is down in the islands searching for a client’s money converted from cash to diamonds.  After a night of memorable passion followed by mistaken suspicions Jake and Steph are on the trail wherever it may lead.

As their relationship strengthens they realize there are more suspects than gems.  Meanwhile the real villains make plans to cash out and flee.  Millions in diamonds, love and danger.  The Caymans make a lovely setting to catch a thief, or two.

An intriguing whodunit/whodidn’t emerges on a tropical paradise for readers to embrace.  The Sapphire Heist features a fast paced plotline, sizzling heat between Jake and Steph, and loads of guilty characters.  There’s no end to the trouble these lovers get into in The Sapphire Heist.  Their relationship is hot and the plotline fascinates, but the large cast of characters can become too much to remember at times.  Enjoy Steph and Jake, enjoy their guesswork, and hopefully don’t get lost along the way.

To say that Atticus Rush is an anti-social man is putting it mildly.  The ex-Special ops expert has few people he’s willing to stick his neck out for, especially after Lady Olivia Rutledge-Cairn broke his heart.

MacKenzie Security, namely Brant Scott, is someone Atticus respects.  Brant braves a visit to Atticus’s mountain stronghold with the news that twelve year old Katrina Hickman’s been kidnapped.  Her father is Senator Alan Hickman and Atticus is well aware the man is dirty, but his innocent daughter had a crush on Atticus a year ago when they met.

The one person who can help Atticus is the last person he wants to see, his ex-wife Livvy.  Their volatile marriage crashed and burned for all the wrong reasons leaving them both responsible.  But that’s in the past and Atticus needs Livvy to help him find out where Katrina is being held.  They broke each other’s heart.  Maybe it’s time to put the pieces back together.

A sexual bonfire is the best way to describe the main characters in this hotter than hot story.  The romantic Rush slowly twists into an exciting, suspenseful adventure.  Atticus and Olivia are complex, explosive characters whose erotic encounters literally singe the pages.  This fast paced, intelligent storyline gives the couple the perfect setting to right their mammoth mistake.  A slick love story, Rush is worth lingering over.

Shane “The Brick Wall” Conrad is the goalie for the Redtails hockey team and he is going through a tough time on the ice. When his teammate, Cary, invites him to spend the Christmas holiday with him and his family Shane accepts since he isn’t going home. Upon arriving Shane knows no one there and can’t want to leave but then he meets Bliss and wants to spend more time getting to know her. As the night progresses he quickly learns that Bliss is feeling the same way he is and he can’t leave fast enough but he wants Bliss at his side when he does.

Bliss Vescovi helps run her aunt’s successful bridal shop and loves the life she has built. While attending the Christmas party hosted by her friend Lori she meets many new people but when a tall drink of water walks through the front door she feels the party is getting better. All Bliss knows is that she has to meet this man. Bliss might want one night of fun but one night with Shane might just not be enough.

The Brick Wall is the first book in Stephanie Julian’s new hockey contemporary romance series and of course I had to read it because it was a sports romance. This is my first book by Ms. Julian and while I enjoyed the characters, The Brick Wall didn’t speak to me the way I hoped for. The characters were likeable and I enjoyed getting to know Shane and Bliss both individually and as a couple, but I did feel The Brick Wall was a little on the short side. There were parts in The Brick Wall where the time would lapse and I couldn’t help but feel I was missing so much in between.

The romance was really the only thing that kept me wanting to read this story. I found myself getting frustrated not only with this miscommunication between Shane and Bliss but also how the ending turned out. The characters did show some form of growth, they both went from being vulnerable and not wanting to get hurt to trusting in one another and wanting to make it work. In the end I felt The Brick Wall was just an okay introduction to the Redtails hockey series, but I am hopeful the next book will be more developed and the series will start to take off.

Mathias “Mat” Herron is down in New Orleans to take part in some wedding festivities of one of his teammates in the off season. While hitting up a bar on Bourbon Street he meets Nicole. After talking and flirting with her he takes her back to his hotel but when he wakes up in the morning she is gone. Mat hopes he runs into her again later on that day when the wedding party is set to go on a tour. But to Mat’s surprise she isn’t a part of the wedding party at all and he’s disappointed that he may never see her again.

Nicole Taylor is back from her two day trip in New Orleans celebrating her divorce but she can’t stop thinking about the hot night she spent with Mat. While heading to her job she is surprised to see him again and even more surprised when he keeps coming to see her. Mat seems like a good guy but you never know and her last relationship left her doubting who the good guys really are. The more time Nicole spends with Mat the more she realizes that he is genuinely a good person and she is starting to fall for him fast but when he finds out about her past will he stick around or run?

Shoot Out is the seventh book in the Baltimore Banners series but my first book by Lisa B. Kamps and while I found the read on the okay side it just wasn’t what I expected it to be. I had a hard time connecting with the characters from the very beginning. Mat and Nicole have a one night stand and Mat literally stalks her just to get to know her better. He finds her outside the hospital being harassed by her ex and offers her a ride. She thinks its great timing but little does she know that he was sitting and waiting hoping to get a chance to see her. I have to admit I didn’t find this sweet at all and it came off a little creepy for my liking. I mean there are other ways to get her attention Mat.

I didn’t feeling this couple had an everlasting love that was building, their relationship was built on sex which happened a few times. Ms. Kamps did deliver hot steamy scenes but I still didn’t think it was enough to make me believe in this couples happily ever after.

Since Shoot Out is a hockey novel I expected there to be some ice time but sadly Shoot Out takes place during the off season so I was a little disappointed by this. In the end this was just an okay read and if Ms. Kamps prior books in the Baltimore series are done this way I am going to have to pass on reading them.

Knox Masters is a senior defensive end and top NFL draft pick for Western State. While working out in the early hours one morning at the field he meets Ellie and is instantly taken with her, but Ellie isn’t giving him a chance. After Ellie flees, Knox knows he will see her again so when Jack, one of his new teammates, asks to bring his sister to the team dinner Knox agrees only to come face to face with the one woman he hasn’t been able to put out of his mind. Now Knox has to convince Ellie to give him a chance and he knows it won’t be easy but the good things in life never are, but Ellie is the one and he will wait forever if he has too.

Ellie Campbell is new to Western State and transferred there to help her brother Jack but also to further her education. Ellie has no time for romance but especially not with football players, she’s been there and done that and in the end not only was she heartbroken but Jack also suffered. There is something about Knox that has Ellie wanting more and the more time they spend getting to know one another the more her big secret could not only tear them apart but also ruin Knox’s chances of getting into the NFL. Ellie can’t let that happen but one thing about Knox is that he plays to win but will that be enough?

Knox was talented, hot, and a virgin. Yes, a virgin! It’s not that he never had the chance to lose it but he was waiting for “the one”. SWOON! From the very beginning I fell in love with his charming personality and his drive that he never gives up. Ellie was intelligent and snarky but has a vulnerable side that she rarely showed. Knox and Ellie were a delightful couple and I couldn’t get enough of them. Jen Frederick built their romance on the slow side and gave them time to see if they were truly meant to be. The love scenes are steamy, yet sweet and I couldn’t help but feel their connection become even deeper.

Sacked had the right amount of football to make it interesting yet the main focus was the romance which left me pleased and giddy. Ms. Frederick built a world of likable characters that won me over. The dialogue is funny and not overly sweet. Once I started Sacked I didn’t want it to end but I loved the way the story flowed and the dual povs made it even better in my opinion. The ending of Sacked was a surprise but overall it felt right for Knox and Ellie.

Sacked was my first book by Ms Frederick and I am happy to say that it will not be the last. The Gridiron series had great secondary characters that all stood out; I found Knox’s teammates hilariously funny and loved the camaraderie between them. The best part of Sacked is that you don’t have to be a fan of football to get into the story because Ms. Frederick does wonders with her story telling. Now I am patiently waiting for whose story will be next and what Ms. Frederick will have in store for them.
