Lori Hunt is on the run from her past.  Currently, she is secretly hiding out as the cook/housekeeper in a small North Carolina town.  Lori knows that if her secret is revealed, there would be hell to pay.  Not one to stay in one place too long, Lori would have left town by now if her boss, Patricia McAlister, did not need her to run the bed and breakfast while she recovers from an accident.

Since his adolescent years, Miles McAlister has stuck to his lifelong politician goal.  With his sights set on a US Congressman seat for his hometown, Miles is not up for surprises that could harm his chances of winning the seat.  Miles senses that Lori is not truthful and he is determined to uncover what she is hiding before she could hurt his mother.

However, the more time that Miles spends around Lori while digging for information, the more he begins to like her as a woman.  Before long, Lori and Miles find themselves caught up in a love affair.  Will their relationship survive once all is revealed?

All They Ever Wanted is a delightful suspense that will have you reading long into the night.  Tracy Solheim did a marvelous job of crafting some highly complicated situations filled with shocking scandals and mortifying secrets.  My eagerness to see just how the storyline would unfold kept me hanging on the edge of my seat and never wanting to put the book down for one minute.  The development of Lori and Miles’ relationship is right on the mark and packed with passion-filled emotion.  There were moments of tears, laughter, anger, and joy.  All in all, a very good read.

All They Ever Wanted can be read as a standalone.

Will Bartlett is still devastated from the loss of his twin brother two years ago.  So he tries to live for the both of them by flirting profoundly with women and playing extreme sports.  As a favor for a friend, Will agrees to be the summer local clinic doctor in Big Paw, Montana.

Millie Switkowski is a pre-med student.  Her journey has been a difficult one, especially since her family and friends are constantly badgering her over her type 1 diabetes.  Nevertheless, Millie is determined to maintain her independence and to become a doctor.  So, when she is offered a summer internship in her home town, Millie jumps at the chance to gain first-hand experience.

As Millie and Will work together, neither expects a summer romance to blossom.  But with many secrets hidden between them, will their super-hot romance end in disaster when the truths are revealed?

Truly Madly Montana is a charming story that had me hooked from the start.  Millie is a typical hometown girl that I found easy to like and to relate to.  She is smart, determined, and passionate.  I really like her self-governing willpower to maintain control over her life and not to allow others to rule it.  Likewise, Will is a force to be reckoned with.  He is clever, sexy, and strong-willed with a wounded heart.  Millie is the perfect woman to heal his heart and open him up to love.  The romance between the couple is spicy and sweet.  In addition to the blazing romance, the kept secrets and the diabetes element, Truly Madly Montana is filled with plenty of laughs and dynamic secondary characters to make it a well-rounded contemporary read.

Tess Graham is running for her life praying she can keep away from her ex-boss who is an entity that most people fear.  Tess is now down to her last chance to survive and that is to become a vampyre’s human attendant.  While she believes that most vampyres are the worst type of monster, Tess knows that if she is accepted by one that they will protect her no matter what.  So on New Year’s Eve, Tess lines up with the rest of the hopefuls to audition at the annual Vampyre Ball.

Xavier del Torro was a Spanish nobleman who became a vampyre to right the wrong done to his family long ago.  He is at the ball as part of his position as Vampyre King’s right hand man.  He wasn’t really looking for a new attendant but something about Tess’ straight forward audition had him selecting her to interview.  Xavier knows that Tess is holding something huge from him and that she isn’t exactly excited to become a blood donor but he still decides to give her a chance to fit into this household.  Maybe by the time her training is over, Tess will tell Xavier exactly why she wants to be in his household and what she is running from.

Tess never imagined the type of intense training that she is given to prove herself and to prepare her for whatever Xavier might request of her.  Xavier is gone through the majority of her early training but when he comes back home, both of them are shocked by the intense feelings that spark between them.  Xavier decides to take control of some of Tess’ training himself in a chance to break down her walls.  Tess finds herself beginning to have feelings for the man she first thought was a monster.  When Tess decides to quit and leave in order to protect Xavier and his household, what she gets is a fierce protector that will use every card he holds in order to not just protect Tess but to give them a chance at the loving future that seems right at their fingertips.  Just when it appears that the future is bright and all theirs for the taking, a betrayal brings a deadly danger which might just end Tess and Xavier before they get the chance to explore their feelings and the love that sprang from it.

A desperate woman and a man who knows all about what hides in the dark discover that total opposites can become the perfect mates in Night’s Honor.  Tess and Xavier journey from mistrust and grudging acceptance to passion to love all while Tess is trying to learn how to be one of Xavier’s human attendants.  I discovered pretty quickly that life both as a vampyre or as one of their household is not all happiness, but more like each household is a special unit of some secret agency.  So many secrets to be discovered or to be kept where one wrong word or action could be your last.  And yet with all this underhandedness, Tess and Xavier not only found love but also the trust that allowed them to fight off the worst danger instinctively as a team.  I loved watching Tess change her attitude from when Xavier first interviewed her until she fought and would have died in order to save him.

I have always loved The Elder Races novels, I have to say the intensity of Tess and Xavier’s journey shot their story to the top of my list of favorites in this series.  I found that Night’s Honor had it all, deep friendships, danger, suspense, betrayal, toe curling passion and best of all a cliff hanger that leads into the next book.  Tess and Xavier’s book will never leave my reader and it’s a must read, over and over again, in my opinion.  It’s also a book that I Joyfully Recommend as one you won’t want to miss.

** Before you read this, you should first read Rising Darkness, the first book in the Game of Shadows series.  This review is starting assuming you have the knowledge from that book.

Mary and Michael are on the run trying to stay a few steps ahead of the evil that they followed from their homeworld so many centuries ago.  They are headed to the one woman who can join with them and help them rid the world of the evil once and for all, Astrid.  You would think that the danger that is on their heels would be enough to deal with right now, but they are also getting some of their memories back on their previous lives and the love they have had that has followed them down through the years.

Astrid has been in contact with Michael as he found Mary and they have dealt with everything that has been thrown at them, all the death and destruction, and she is torn on whether Mary is going to be the help both she and Michael had planned on or if the years and many challenges have weakened Mary.  They are finally altogether and the danger is definitely hunting them.  In the small amount of time they have to plan, Mary, Michael and Astrid gather their strengths and enter the final battle knowing it’s all or nothing.  Someone will die and someone will live on, the question is after all the years that Mary, Michael and Astrid have lived so many lifetimes and worked to end the evil, do they still have enough to win the day and save Earth from the horror that will happen if they lose.

For many, many centuries aliens have lived and died among humans while trying to end the evil that descended on Earth.  Now the time has arrived and it will take all the skill, sacrifice and most importantly a love that has lasted the entire time to win this battle.  Mary and Michael will learn all of this as they come to the end of their journey in Falling Light.  Once I was about half way through, I could tell that all the death, destruction and battles that have led to where Mary and Michael are now will be nothing to what would be coming.  I had to feel sorry for all the sorrow that Mary, Michael and even Astrid had suffered during their search to solve the wrong they were part of so long ago.  There were so many times I wondered if these allies really were going for the same aim and a couple of times I was positive they weren’t.  But once the final battle was going I could see my worries were totally off the mark.  I loved the way Mary and Michael not only survived with their love but helped one of the people who suffered after helping their cause.  Falling Light is full of danger and suspense with lots of action packed pages, but it’s tempered by the strong love between Mary and Michael.
