Erin Flynn is a tough woman! She suffered unspeakable atrocities at the hands of people that were supposed to protect her.  Recovering physically wasn’t quite as hard as recovering emotionally.  Becoming an Enforcer has driven Erin the past year. As an Enforcer it is her duty to protect others from harm.  She has been given her first assignment since becoming an Enforcer and it is going to take her to New Orleans. Unfortunately, the guy she has been trying to keep her distance from has been assigned to go with her.

Noah Campbell has been fighting his mating instinct since he found Erin battered and beaten a year ago.  If he could hunt down the people that hurt her he would obliterate them.  Erin is an Enforcer and he respects that but there is nothing that could keep him from following her wherever she is assigned.

Things get dicey as Erin and Noah arrive in New Orleans.  It doesn’t help that Noah’s estranged father is Alpha of the territory.  Wolves and vampires collide making Erin’s first Enforcer assignment more difficult. To make matters more difficult Erin is fighting her intense attraction to Noah.  Will she find the bad guy before she loses her heart to Noah?

Author Katie Reus continues her brilliant Moon Shifter series with Avenger’s Heat.  Erin Flynn is a favorite character of mine.  She is powerful and so complex. She is the perfect match for Noah.  His strength of character is part of what makes him perfect for Erin.  He wants the best for his woman and he is going to make sure she gets it!  Avenger’s Heat is full of heady emotions and fantastic suspenseful action.  In this story, New Orleans is a character itself; a stunning background for all of the danger and mystery that rapidly unfolds.

Love couples that set the pages on fire with their wit and chemistry then Avenger’s Heat is for you! This Moon Shifter novel is impressive and dazzling.

After Xandra’s nasty run in with the Arcadian Council of Witches—where she was almost killed and her boyfriend, Declan, was almost framed for it—her plan is to lay low and figure out why its members would torment the people they are supposed to protect. Declan, temperamental and protective warlock that he is, doesn’t feel so reticent. And when violence erupts again, there’s no stopping him from pursuing revenge... When a council member is murdered in a fashion that screams dark magic, Declan claims someone else beat him to it. Xandra doesn’t want to believe he could commit such a brutal act, but she knows he has a dark side—one that his former love interest Tsura understands better than she ever will. With Tsura back in town, Xandra doesn’t know whom to trust. And a killer targeting witches and wizards is still at large...

Xandra Morgan might be a witch from a royal family, but she recently found out that she has had a target on her back since birth from the Arcadian Council of Witches and they are fighting with deadly aim.  Having survived the last attempt, Xandra was hoping for some down time to just be a business owner and to come to terms with her gift, which just opened up and to find a balance with her new boyfriend, Declan, a really fierce and dark warlock.  But it seems like that just isn’t in the cards.

Declan Chumomisto wasn’t happy at first about being soulbound with Xandra, but now that they are a couple and Declan has seen just who and what she really is, he can’t imagine not being with her.  In fact, he wants nothing more than to kill each and every one of the Council which tied them together, without thought or warning, when they were so young.  The only thing really stopping him is Xandra herself, who doesn’t want an out and out war with the Council.  However, it seems someone else might have beaten Declan to the punch.

Xandra is drawn in to a search for a missing little girl who it turns out might have close to the same powers she does.  At the same time her powers are drawing her to the dead bodies of several Council members.  The question is, who is getting past the Council members’ security and killing them in such horrible manner?  Xandra can’t believe that Declan is doing this, even if it seems like he is the only one who could bypass all the levels of security to get to them.  Xandra and Declan team up to solve the murders, even if Xandra can tell that Declan isn’t telling her something.  If that isn’t enough, Xandra gets an emergency call from home about a serious illness that has attacked one of her family members.  It soon becomes clear that everything Xandra and Declan have been working on all have a single person behind them, and that Xandra and her family might be next on the hit list.  Can Declan and Xandra find out who is behind this before they lose anyone else? Or have the spells been cast and all anyone can do is hope to defend?

Xandra and Declan found love as they defeated a Council plot to kill them, now can they keep that love as someone kills the Council, one by one, and targets Xandra and her family?  Flamebound takes Xandra and Declan on their next path to defeat those that are determined to end their relationship before it gets a chance to take hold.  After reading how Xandra and Declan came together and having a firm hate towards the Council for how they meddled, I was still a bit shocked to see how several of them died.  The very viciousness was more than I think even Declan would do, he just wants them punished for what they did.  I really loved watching as Xandra tried to use her powers to save a young girl who was being used for evil purposes.  When it turned out that those purposes actually focused on Xandra and her family with deadly accuracy, I wanted Declan and Xandra to not only find that person but to make them suffer.  When that person behind it all came to be known, I was a bit shocked and would have never picked that person or the reason behind it all.  On top of an excellent plot, I loved watching as Xandra and Declan fell even deeper in love and seemed to understand each other, their individual powers and knew that while their continued path won’t be easy, it will be a passion filled one.

Flamebound is full of deadly suspense and red hot passions with a great twist of clues that kept me guessing until the very last page was turned.  I didn’t want to stop reading from the first chapter until the back cover was closed.  For all that I have said here, and so much that I wanted to say but couldn’t, I Joyfully Recommend Flamebound as a must read and a keeper series.  This is one series that I believe should be read in order because so much happens in each book and it builds upon each book.

Imprisoned and tortured by the demoness who tricked him into betraying the Nightkeepers and the woman he loves, Rabbit must endure excruciating pain to protect the diminished Skywatch army as the end-time approaches. Although an ancient prophecy says his unique powers are key to winning the final battle in the doomsday war, he hasn't just lost his credibility—he's lost his magic. Myrinne is far from the woman Rabbit once knew—she's got magic now, and despite emotional scars, she's strong enough to help the Nightkeepers. And yet she's not prepared to handle the fiercely driven man he's become or the new, dangerous feelings that spark between them. With the barrier ready to fall and a xombi outbreak in the human world, Rabbit and Myrinne must forge a new partnership amid dangerous instability and the threat of an undead army. In the end, it will be up to Rabbit to master his ferocious magic—or all will be lost. For him, for the woman he doesn't have the right to love anymore, and for the fate of the world…

Rabbit knows he has burnt his last bridge and it’s only a matter time before the person he thought he could trust kills him.  After all, he betrayed not only his friends and fellow Nightkeepers, but also destroyed the love he had with Myrinne and to top it all off, his magic is gone.  Imagine Rabbit’s surprise when he is able to escape from the hellish cave he is being kept in and even more surprising, the Nightkeepers had come for him.  The problem is Rabbit knows they may never trust him again and he isn’t sure he can fulfill the prophecy about him and save the world.

Myrinne is still stunned by her last time with Rabbit and his attempt to kill her.  She thought that their relationship was strong enough to survive anything, but she never counted on a demon messing with his beliefs, the very foundations of his being.  Myrinne survives Rabbit’s attack and even came out of it with stronger magic than she had before.  Now she is facing the hardest choice of all, helping to rescue the very man she loved and who turned his back on her.

Rabbit realizes right away that his magic has gone to Myrinne. While he wants it back to feel normal, Rabbit would also love to let Myrinne have it.  The night of the prophecy is just around the corner and if the Nightkeepers are going to save the world, they will first need to figure out what all the clues they have been give mean.  At the same time, Rabbit has to learn what a crossover is and just what his powers are meant to do when the wall comes tumbling down. The hardest part is Rabbit and Myrinne have to work together with his magic to find the answers – harder still because the passion that has always been between them is still there and seems to be getting stronger.  The clock is ticking down, it’s only hours until either the world as everyone knows it will end or Rabbit, Myrinne and the other Nightkeepers will find all the answers and stop the deadly turn about to happen.

Months have turned into days and now into hours, the survival of the world will come down to the two self proclaimed misfits and their love to save the world with the help of the other Nightkeepers.  Spellfire is a book I have long awaited, not because it was the last book of the series and I would finally know all the answers, but because it was Rabbit’s book and I really wanted him to have the best of happy ever afters.  I was very worried when I saw Rabbit and Myrinne so far apart.  I cheered when Rabbit made it out of that cave and yet again when he and Myrinne began the long road back to the love they had for so long.  I came to believe that all the ups and downs were necessary, if painful, for them to find the shocking answers that were needed to save the world.

Spellfire takes us right to the strike of midnight and past it with all the drama, suspense and passion you could ever ask for.  Now that the answers are known, I’m going to spoil myself and spend an entire weekend reading this series from beginning until end just to feel the tension build up and all the passion that was found and held as each of the Nightkeepers found their own answers to help solve clues in time.  If you haven’t read this series yet, I highly suggest that you begin at the first book and read them in order to follow all the over arching clues and indulge in the suspense and passion.

My opinions above are just a few of the reasons why I was held spellbound and did not want to put this book down once I began it.  All of these reasons and even more are why I have to Joyfully Recommend Spellfire as a must read and the Nightkeepers series as one you will not forget anytime soon.
