Wine Country is about to catch fire in The Billionaires…

Calista Fox has a hit with The Billionaires! Rogen, Jewel and Vin make for one hell of a fiery read! The Billionaires take passion to new heights as they discover the truth behind their family’s feud and their feelings for each other.  The Billionaires is an erotic feast! However, it’s much more than just hot sex there is an excellent story built around Rogen, Jewel and Vin’s sinfully delicious attraction and the emotional obstacles standing in their way.

The backdrop of The Billionaires is beautifully described by Ms. Fox. She takes the reader into wine country and makes you feel like you’re about to have the tasting of a lifetime. I really enjoyed Jewel’s fierce personality, Rogen’s sensuality and Vin’s uncompromising hunger.  Ms. Fox gives us three strong characters that are determined to fight for each other and everything they believe in.  Rogen and Vin will bewitch the reader as they seduce Jewel.  There are plenty of titillating sexual situations but romance is the star here.

I am Joyfully Recommending The Billionaires for the month of April. I cannot wait to read the next books in the series.

UNDER THE SURFACE by Anne CalhounUnder the Surface by Anne Calhoun
Series: Alpha Ops #4
Published by St. Martin's Press Genres: Suspense

When I stared Under The Surface by Anne Calhoun I originally thought this was the first book in a new series but it turns out this is the fourth book in the Alpha Ops series. Since I haven’t read the previous books I feared that I would be lost but I was pleasantly surprised that I didn’t feel that way and was glad this could be read as a standalone.

Eve Webber was a former cocktail waitress turned business owner of Eye Candy which caters mostly to the female population due to the hot male employees. Eve has been looking for a new bartender since she had to let the last one go since he didn’t follow the rule not to mess with the customers. When “Chad” walks into Eye Candy looking for work Eve is attracted to him and figures it’s only a matter of time before she gets him in bed, but she has other important things going on in her life, like an old friend who wants to launder money through her business.

Detective Matt Dorchester is used to undercover assignments and is damn good at his job. He has all the skills that will pass for being a good bartender, but what he doesn’t expect is the attraction he feels for Eve. He knows she is working with them but the police department doesn’t fully trust her so keeping an eye on her is what he plans to do. The more time Matt, aka Chad, spends with her the harder it is to keep his cover, but all bets are off when someone starts threatening her life. Now trying to keep Eve safe and out of harm’s way is his new mission but if she lands in between his sheets the lines might blur.

I really liked Eve from the beginning. She’s smart, funny and quick on her feet. With her background I wasn’t sure what kind of heroine she would turn out to be but I loved her and it only made her more likable. Matt was a little on the quiet side and more serious but he had to be because of his line of work. I love how dedicated he was not only to his family but his job. He showed strength in so many ways and he was the complete opposite of Eve’s character.

Since this was a romantic suspense the love scenes were a little dialed down, but that didn’t matter because the story really entranced and had me not wanting to put it down. Ms. Calhoun focused more on the romance that was building instead of the suspense which I was okay with. The romance starts off on the slow side with a few heated kisses and cute banter but once these two got started the chemistry started to flow and the passion started to rise.

The secondary characters also stood out in their own way, but I wasn’t really focused on them while reading Under The Surface. I’m pretty sure The Alpha Ops series main focus will be the men and women of the police department protecting the hero/ heroine from whatever is in store for them. Already I’m looking forward to see where the Alpha Ops series will go and who will be next to find their happily ever after.

DIRTY by Kylie ScottDirty by Kylie Scott
Series: Dive Bar #1
Published by St. Martin's Press

Its Lydia’s wedding day which should be one of the happiest days of her life, but just before she is ready to walk down the aisle she receives the shock of her life in the form of a video. When Lydia opens the video and sees her soon to be husband and the best man involved in intimate acts she knows she has to get out of there. Without thinking this through she leaves him to deal with the mess and plans the great escape. She never thought she would end up in someone else’s bathtub or come face to face with a naked man who is looking for some answers on how she came to be in his house.

Dirty was absolutely hilarious! From the moment the story started I was drawn to the dialogue and the banter between Vaughan and Lydia. Upon their first introduction I could feel the attraction and wondered how long it would take these two to make it to the bedroom. But when they started to become real friends and began telling each other things that no one else knew I knew that their bond was growing deeper. While Vaughan might have been the opposite of who Lydia was picturing herself with, he really was a great guy. He didn’t have to give her a place to stay while she was getting back on her feet, but he was not only intrigued by her and her breasts, but genuinely interested in her as a person.

There is always pleasure in finding a new series that has wonderfully written characters and comedy that isn’t only entertaining but welcomed. Kylie Scott is a new author to me so when I started Dirty I didn’t know what to expect but staying up well past my bedtime was worth it. The one thing I would have liked to have seen was the story told in dual povs. I wanted to get into Vaughan’s head instead of just Lydia’s. Although Lydia was very entertaining it sometimes felt a little one sided. It didn’t take away from the entire story, but could have possibly made it a little better.

I also really enjoyed getting to know the secondary characters and how they were going to fit into this series. With every new group of characters there will be a certain amount of drama and I have to say Ms. Scott did not disappoint on that. There were a few shocking and jaw dropping moments that have me eagerly awaiting the second book, Twist, in the Dive Bar series.

DANGEROUS TO KNOW by Dawn RyderDangerous to Know by Dawn Ryder
Series: Unbroken Heroes #1
Published by St. Martin's Press Genres: Contemporary

Dangerous to Know is the first book in the Unbroken Series by Dawn Ryder and I found it really hard to put down. Every once in a while I like to dive into a romantic suspense book and Dangerous to Know just hit the spot for me. This series is about an elite Special Ops team that does everything you could ever imagine and the men in this series are just drool worthy. From the very beginning I could tell Ms. Ryder was going to give me something special and she did. Normally in many romantic suspense stories you have to guess who the bad guys are but in Dangerous to Know Ms. Ryder hands them over in the very beginning and finding out the why is just as fun as the guessing.

Dangerous to Know is interesting, dangerous and downright sexy! The story starts off  with knowing who sold the intel instead of readers trying to figure it out which captured my attention right away. Zoe’s brother is wondering who is selling classified intel on upcoming missions and the details of those missions. The story then jumps to Zoe meeting two men in a bar not knowing that she is about to become part of a undercover mission to see if her or a member of her family is in fact the one doing the selling of intel. And oh boy does it get juicy!

While Mercer is getting close to Zoe on many levels he doesn’t believe she is actually the one behind what is going on and his suspicions are proved true when Zoe is shot at in her own house. Of course it takes Mercer a little more time to piece things together but the more time he spends with the feisty Zoe and her damn bird the harder he begins to fall and he will do anything to keep her safe.

I didn’t have many problems with this story but the one problem I did find that was bothering me was I felt there were too many povs going on. Not only do we get Zoe and Mercer’s but also the men who are behind this whole shit storm and that’s just to name a few. I did find myself feeling a little frustrated during the other povs because, honestly, it didn’t really change how I was seeing the story and you can simply follow what’s going on.

Mercer and Zoe’s relationship didn’t start off easy, but the way Mercer had to gain her trust by hopping into her bed was just wrong on so many levels but helped kept the story going on how he was trying to earn that trust. Zoe didn’t trust Mercer for many reasons and was hurt when she found out who he really was and what he was doing. From the moment they met they had some really great attraction and I could tell it really affected them both. The secondary characters show some really good potential for the upcoming books in this series that already I am adding to my read list and not waiting patiently for.

The love scenes are hot so you have been warned. It’s not just one drawn out love scene but many, and they are detailed to the point I even thought about turning the air on as it was getting steamy. Zoe and Mercer can’t keep their hands off one another even with danger lurking around corners. But with these two I could feel the deep emotions flowing from them both and knew that it wasn’t just sex, it was turning into something greater and more powerful between them.

Dangerous to Know doesn’t end on a cliffhanger. Yippee! But it does set up for the next book which I am very eager to read at this moment. You won’t want to miss this action packed romance with twists and turns that will make your heart pound.

Quinn Peterson lives and breathes Pixie Wheels, her father’s automotive shop.  Since her mother’s death, her father has become an alcoholic leaving Quinn to run the garage.  Unfortunately, it is in major debt and a hot shot race car builder has set his sight on buying the shop.  Quinn would rather die than sell it; however, her drunken father has other ideas.

Tazen Watts is a well-known custom race car builder who acquires financially troubled local garages around the country to accommodate his clienteles’ demands.  His latest conquest is the Pixie Wheels garage.  Instead of the usually smooth transition, Tazen is experiencing uncountable physical and emotional difficulty with the pervious owner’s daughter, Quinn.

Will Quinn and Tazen be able to resolve their differences before they destroy each other?

I am on the fence concerning Hard to Break.  Whereas, the plotline is intriguing and the overall writing style is excellent; I struggled bonding with Quinn and Tazen.  For a huge portion of the book, I could not stand either one of them.  Even though from the history aspect, I understand Quinn’s attachment to the garage; however, she comes over as a spoiled brat who whines all the time.  Likewise, Tazen’s general attitude towards a woman’s workplace really worked my nerves.  Bottom line he is an inconsiderate jerk with no regards to Quinn’s feelings.  Nevertheless, in the end Tazen makes it all up to Quinn in a big way that somewhat softened my heart towards him.  Overall, Hard to Break is a passable read.  With that said, I still look forward to future reads from Bella Jewel.
