The Harder They Fall by Ari McKay
Series: Herc's Mercs
Published by Torquere Press Genres: Contemporary, MM
Computer whiz at Hercules Security Chris Hardison intends to enjoy the first anniversary party between his boss Alec Davis and his husband Jon Baldwin, even if he is going stag to the celebration. The last thing Chris expects to happen is to get lost in Jason Hekili’s dark eyes as the part-time actor performs a fire dance.
They hit if off immediately and go from zero to sixty in no time at all. Unfortunately the last relationship Chris was involved in has him suspect the worst when Jason makes an innocent mistake one night. Before Jason can figure out what’s wrong Chris breaks everything off between them.
It’s not long before Chris realizes what a fool he has been, but it’s too late. Jason has accepted a position with Hercules Security and moved across the country. Swallowing his pride he flies east to beg for forgiveness. In the meantime Chris will need protection of his own. He’s uncovered discrepancies on the job that some powerful people would rather be left alone. When his life is threatened Jason steps up to protect him. With danger hounding Chris at every turn there’s little chance for love to rekindle. Or is there?
The Harder They Fall the faster they bounce back or…go splat. From over the moon to desolate pain, Chris and Jason wade through their personal drama. Their intense relationship is balanced against dealing with a deadly threat. Well drawn characters make The Harder They Fall work, the pacing however slows down a bit at times. Having said that, The Harder They Fall has a solid love story that readers will enjoy.
