Liam Cuelebre is struggling to understand and come to grips with the same sense of loss as the rest of the Wyr, and he goes internal to try and overcome his feelings.  Several things have Liam almost losing control with his Wyr self and the beginning is his true age and experience level.  After all, Liam has jumped grades and grown almost to his adult size and strength while still being a baby in so many things.  After an argument with his parents, Liam wonders if he will ever find what it is he is searching for.

Liam is still at a total loss when a straight-forward talk with one of guards gives him a chance at a path that just might be exactly what Liam needs.  Now, he just needs to get his parents on board—something that might not be as easy as it seems.  Now that he has all the wheels turning, it’s waiting time (something no dragon does well), and Liam shows that he is still the loving young boy everyone knows.  It seems as if the entire Cuelebre family is on pins and needles while Liam waits to see if his biggest hope and wish will come true—one that will change his life forever.

Liam is a very young boy in an adult’s body with some serious life questions when Liam Takes Manhattan begins and, by the end, he might not have the answers to those questions, but he certainly has begun the journey to find those answers.  I, like everyone else, has loved Liam since Pia first became pregnant with him and was wondering when he would start to experience the growing pains I could see coming.  Well, I found my answer while reading this latest peek into his life.  There were several times I wasn’t sure which way Liam would go and if he would end up fighting with his father.  I loved watching as Liam once again grew up before my eyes, and I can’t wait to see just where this newest adventure will take Liam.  One thing I do know is that he will have the loving support of his parents and that of his soon-to-be younger sibling.  Liam Takes Manhattan is a serious direction-changer for Liam, and I’m guessing the entire Cuelebre family—one I can’t wait to see where it takes us.

Life has been exciting for Pia and Dragos.  First, they have to deal with a murder victim found in their D.C. house during an important dinner party and, at that same time they discover that Liam will soon be a big brother.  Now, Pia has to head to Hollywood and spend a week with the Light Fae as their part of the pack that was agreed to with the humans during that meeting in D.C.  Pia and Dragos know that they could get extra time to make the visit, but because of the baby, they decide to do it now and to do it their own way.  After all, it is Dragos and his family we are talking about.

Pia isn’t even in Hollywood for 24 hours when she knows beyond all doubt this is not going to be a quiet and simple visit.  It appears that the Light Fae have been trying to hide something and now instead of just coasting through a week visit in the Southern California sunshine, she is going to have to help Dragos fight some unknown affliction and then help him, her guards, and the Light Fae to destroy whatever is infecting the Light Fae and threatening to infect all of the Elder Races if it gets a chance.  You would think by now no one would utter the words, “What could possibly go wrong.”

Pia is hoping to fulfill an obligation the Wyr have to the Light Fae due to an agreement with humans and instead finds herself fighting for Dragos and the Elder Races once again in Pia Does Hollywood.  I had a feeling that things would not go as simply as Pia and Dragos were hoping as the week started, yet I didn’t expect things to get crazy even before things could be unpacked from suitcases.  Once again, when one of the Elder Races tries to keep something quiet it, takes Pia and Dragos to clean up the issue.  I loved this latest adventure with Pia and Dragos, and if you thought Pia’s last pregnancy was great with Liam, just wait until you meet the newest little Wyr-to-be.  I can foresee many a gray hair and lots of patience in Pia and Dragos’ future—totally in a loving way. Pia Does Hollywood continues a baby arc in the Elder Races and is full of the same humor, suspense, and deep love that I have come to expect from stories involving Pia and Dragos.

Pia and Dragos will have to leave their home for Washington, D.C. soon as all of the Elder Races leaders are coming to meet with the U.S. government due to the recent actions that have affected not only the races, but also humans.  Dragos isn’t what you would call a political pundit, but he is the person who will watch out for his Wyr.  But, before they leave, Pia expresses a heartfelt want to Dragos, and he is more than willing to try and give her what she wants.  As a matter of fact, he is looking forward to it.

Once in Washington, D.C., both Pia and Dragos are instantly swept up into the events taking place.  At this first event, Dragos and Pia learn just how divided the government is on those who are against the races and those who are willing to listen.  To say that Dragos is unhappy is not even close to his feelings. and the next event is to be held in their home.  Pia is working her hardest to make sure that this dinner is the best it can be, but her body just isn’t helping at all.  Pia can’t figure out what is going on with her. but she isn’t going to let anything destroy her and Dragos’ first important dinner party.  That is. until murder happens and it will take quick action by both Pia and Dragos to make sure that none of the Wyr or the other races are seen as being behind the death of the spouse of a prominent politician.  You would think that would be enough for one dinner party, but it seems that fate has yet more surprises in store for Pia and Dragos.

Pia and Dragos are in action again as the Wyr super couple in Dragos Goes to Washington.  I have loved Pia and Dragos since I read their first book and each book just gives me more to love.  This quick slice into their lives is no different.  I was happily surprised at Pia’s request and not surprised at all in Drago’s response.  After all, Pia and Dragos’ love just springs from the pages every time they are together.  I loved watching as Dragos learns just what he and the other Race leaders are facing once they get to Washington, D.C., and how he took it.  The events at their dinner party definitely kept me guessing on who was behind them and if Pia or Dragos could act fast enough to remove any threat to themselves and the other Races.  If you love Pia and Dragos, or any of the other Races in this world, then you really don’t want to miss Dragos Goes to Washington.   And, if you are anything like me, you will be wanting the next novella in this mini-series immediately after turning the last page here.

Julian is the Nightkind King after taking over as the heir from his sire. Julian trusts very few people, so he isn’t really surprised when an attempt to over throw him happens.  What does surprise him is who is behind the actions and just how the coup is taking place.  Now, two of the few people that Julian let into his life have been harmed: one, his right hand man, and the other, the woman he all but gave his heart to.

Melisande (“Melly”) is the heir to the Light Fae Queen, and she is a mostly light hearted person.  When Melly is kidnapped by someone she considered a friend, her first reaction is that it must have been a mistake or a way to get her mother’s attention.  However, as Melly’s personal nightmare goes on, she understands that not only was her taking intentional, but that it has absolutely nothing to do with her mother.  No, she has been taken to be bait to the one man that Melly thought she could love with her entire heart until, for some reason, he turned her away without hearing her side.

Julian was about to start his hunt of the instigator of coup for his crown when he is contacted by the Light Fae Queen and then discovers that Melly has been taken.  Julian might not believe Melly ever loved him now, but he will do anything to protect her and save her from the mad woman who has her—even give himself up.  The nightmare just gets worse as Melly finds out that Julian is willing to surrender himself for her safety.  Teamwork is how Julian and Melly escape and make it to Julian’s home, only to discover that the coup has taken another turn that could lead to yet more innocent deaths.  During this time, when it should be the darkest time for both Julian and Melly, they discover that their love is stronger than ever, and then they discover the betrayal which led to the misunderstandings and hurt feelings.  In one drastic day and night, Julian and Melly find a way to not only permanently end the coup and stop anyone who might think to restart it, and they also deal with any barrier to their love forever.

Royalty comes in many shapes and sizes when you are dealing with the Elder Races.  Two of these examples are the Nightkind King, an old Roman soldier, and a Light Fae Princess and heir to the crown, an actress who loves life—not exactly a twosome you would expect to be a couple.  Yet, Julian and Melly will prove just how wrong you are in Midnights Kiss.  I wondered just how the attempted coup would go on after reading the prior book in the series where it began, and I also wondered just how Julian would react.  Vampires are long-lived, and you would think they would remember that Romans took over the majority of the known world during their time for a good reason.  I wasn’t at all surprised by how Julian took the coup and the harm to his friends, yet even I was surprised at how he reacted when Melly was drawn into the danger. Even more enjoyable was watching as a person who seemed like a lightweight prove just how well she was matched to her lover, Julian.  I loved watching as they not only overcame the betrayal that tore them apart years ago, but also seamlessly teamed up to kick butt and take names and heads to defeat any and all risk to the Nightkind.  Even better, I had to smile as yet another relationship was given the chance to heal for Julian at the end of the book.  Midnights Kiss is full of action, danger, and passion almost from the first page to the last. For me, it was a story that I read in one sitting just because I couldn’t stop turning the pages.  I will bet that you will love Julian and Melly by the time you turn the last page. I know I did.

Dragos Cuelebre is no longer the only dragon.Dragos's son Liam Cuelebre (a.k.a. Peanut) is springing into existence, reminiscent of the first of the Elder Races who were born at the beginning of the world. At just six months of age, he has already grown to the size of a large five-year-old boy. He can read, write in complete sentences, and his math skills are off the chart.A white dragon in his Wyr form, Liam also holds more Power than almost anyone else. In an effort to give him a taste of normality, no matter how fleeting, his parents Pia and Dragos enroll him in first grade. They hope school will help teach Liam how to relate to others, a vital skill that will help him control his growing Power. But school has a surprising number of pitfalls, and relating to others can be a tricky business. When a classmate is threatened, Liam must quickly learn self-control, how to rein in his instincts, and govern his temper, because there's no doubt about it--he is fast becoming one of the most dangerous creatures in all of the Elder Races.

Liam Cuelebre (better known as Peanut) is growing up by leaps and bounds and he may only be a few months old but he is the size of a 5 year old and just as curious and mischievous as any other child that age.  His father is the most powerful man in world and his mother might not seem as powerful, but Liam knows she would move mountains to keep him safe.  But none of that is on his mind right now, Liam has a huge adventure because he is going to school – first grade to be exact.  Liam knows that he is also powerful, even as young as he is, yet he knows that he needs to takes these next steps as just a very intelligent young boy and he really attempts to do that.

However, it seems that the gods are testing him to see just how together Liam is this young because he faces several hardships his very first day.  The biggest lesson that Liam learns in the next few hours is that bullies can come in several sizes, guises and ages.  He also learns that there are some battles he can handle and then there are some he needs to bring his big gun back up – his parents.  Liam also learns several other things in a few short hours and most of all he learns just how much his parents love him and what they will do to protect him.

Power comes in many forms and one little guy just might become the most powerful being around, well if you don’t count his father, and just like everyone who enters life as a child he has many lessons to learn.  Liam begins his journey to learn all of those lessons in Peanut Goes to School.  I have to say that I fell in love with Liam when he was still becoming a being and that love has only grown as I have seen Liam deal with so many things at such a young age.  This time I watch as Liam learned just what bullies are and that they can come in so many shapes and sizes.  I cheered as Liam proved his dominance to some and knew just when he needed to call for his back up.  And I don’t mean Dragos, I’m talking about Pia here.  Liam also had me smiling because I can see that he is going to be one heck of a handful for not only his parents, but also those who are trying to protect him and let’s not even get into the parents of any of the girls that he will charm.  Peanut Goes to School is a lovely adventure that will have you wanting to just hug Liam to pieces and fist bump his parents on a job well done.
