Return to New York Times bestselling author Nalini Singh’s darkly passionate Guild Hunter world, where human-turned-angel Elena Deveraux, consort to Archangel Raphael, is thrust center stage into an eons-old prophecy…

Midnight and dawn, Elena’s wings are unique among angelkind—and now they are failing. The first mortal to be turned into an immortal in angelic memory, she’s regressing. Becoming more and more human. Easier to hurt. Easier to kill.

Elena and Raphael must unearth the reason for the regression before Elena falls out of the sky. Yet even as they fight a furious battle for Elena’s very survival, violent forces are gathering across the world. In China, the Archangel Favashi is showing the first signs of madness. In New York, a mysterious sinkhole filled with lava swallows a man whole. In Africa, torrential monsoon rains flood rolling deserts. And in Elena’s mind whispers a haunting voice that isn’t her own.

This time, survival may not be possible…not even for the consort of an archangel.

The last few years have been good ones, with the Cascade on some sort of pause.  It’s been business as usual for both Elena and Raphael, but it’s been like looking constantly over your shoulder for the next shoe to drop.  And drop it did, when Elena’s brother-in-law was attacked and left for dead in his home, and threats were left for Elena’s sister and niece.  To say Elena was in the hunt didn’t quite cover it.   Like that wasn’t enough to shake things up, the Cascade just roared forward again and it’s nastier than ever.

As Elena continues her hunt for who almost killed her brother-in-law and to protect her sister and niece, she finds that the attack is part of a series of killings. The question is who is behind them and why.  At the same time the Cascade has attacked not only New York, but also Africa and something crazy is going on in China.  So Raphael and Elena are working overtime to figure out what is going on.  Now you would think that would be more than enough, but no – another strange thing is Elena seems to be regressing and becoming more and more human again.  Plus there is a voice telling her she is part of a prophecy and one will have to die so the other can live.  So who has to die and who is going to live?

As the days go by the answers to who is behind the killings and brutal attack are beginning to point to someone that will hurt Elena to bring down.  And each day she is getting weaker and her wings are being threatened.  Everyone knows her day and night wings might be at risk with everything the voice is saying.  Raphael is trying to move heaven and earth to find the answers to save Elena, but everyone is coming up empty.  It’s becoming a race to see if Elena will capture the killer before she goes down herself.  When all the answers are known, will everyone come out safely on the other side, or will New York be rocked harder than ever before?

Love can conquer all they say, but is it stronger than the oldest and most famous seer in history?  I know that whenever I open a book featuring Elena and Raphael the action will be fierce and the love even hotter.  Archangel’s Prophecy was no exception.  I loved the hunt to find and end the threat to Elena’s sister and niece. I have to admit that I never expected who it turned out to be.   I also lost it several times as Elena was so affected by the Cascade and prophecy.  I saw the true love between Raphael and his consort as the pages became fewer and fewer.  I have to say that the ending was very bittersweet for me and I had to re-read the last couple of chapters several times because I thought a hard rule for me in romance had been broken.  I will also tell you that there is one hell of a cliffhanger.  If you don’t handle those well, you might want to wait until the next book comes out and read them back to back.  Over all, Archangel’s Prophecy is another excellent example of Ms. Singh’s storytelling.  It will challenge all of your emotions before you are finished.  I can promise you this.

Holly Chang was a happy college student on the day she and several of her friends went out on a girl’s day.  That all changed when they were kidnapped, tortured and, for Holly’s friends, killed by a crazy archangel.  Holly was the sole survivor when she was found by Elena, broken and changed, but alive.  It’s now been several years since that happened and Holly has worked hard to overcome what she was changed into and to deal with the creature she has become.  Unlike most humans when they are transformed, Holly isn’t quite a vampire nor is she human.  Now it seems that someone wants Holly, and they are willing to risk the Tower’s wrath to get her.

Venom is one of Raphael’s seven, his private guard.  Known for his slick dressing, eyes like a viper, and poison that he can release with his fangs, Venom usually faces the world behind dark glasses.  Venom is one of the seven who has been working with Holly, because it appears they are the only two on earth with faster than fast reflexes and deadly poison that they can release with their fangs.  When the bounty on Holly comes to light, Venom volunteers to become Holly’s “babysitter” and personal bodyguard until they find who is behind the threat and terminate it.

Holly would rather spend time with anyone OTHER than Venom, but she is so far down the Tower’s chain that she is stuck with him after Dimitri assigns them together .  As Venom and Holly work on following the clues on why someone would want to kidnap Holly, they also continue working on Holly discovering just what her gifts are and how she can control them.  They also slowly begin to discover that their game of baiting each other is revealing an attraction that quickly becomes a passion.  The deadly game of keeping Holly safe is interrupted by an even deadlier search to reveal the answers to just what Holly has inside her and how it is connected to the insane archangel who transformed her.  This search will take Venom and Holly from New York and into the stronghold of an archangel who will destroy them if they are discovered before the truths come out and a final battle is waged—one that might end Holly’s life once and for all.  It will take all of Venom and Holly’s strength and trust in each other to overcome the battle before them and come out alive and able to explore the overwhelming passion they have found together.

Match up one of the personal bodyguards to the New York Archangel with a petite Chinese-American woman who has lived through horrors, throw in a treat and a deadly  mystery, and you have the journey to love that Venom and Holly will travel in Archangel’s Viper. I would have never put Venom and Holly together and, yet, as I watch them circle around and try to one-up each other, I found that they were the perfect match is so many ways.  I absolutely loved watching as Venom and Holly at first fought against their attraction and then as they started to explore their passion and finally as they battled to overcome the deadly horror that was threatening Holly’s life.  I also enjoyed learning more about Venom’s background and the why and how he was made as he was.  But what I learned most about Venom was that behind his slick suits and those dark glasses, he has a big heart and a soul that needed someone to love and to help him forgive long past hurts that were still festering deep within him.  Holly’s zest to live out every minute of life and to make every day count was exactly the person to help Venom finally free himself to accept the love that has connected them.

I was captivated from the first page and wasn’t let go until I turned the final page.  I could not wait to discover what would happen next as Venom and Holly worked to find all the answers that would allow them to have a future to love and learn more about each other.  I also loved seeing some of the everyday life of Raphael’s seven when he wasn’t around.  The timing of Venom and Holly’s story was just as revealing as the Tower’s curtain was slightly moved aside to reveal some of its inner workings.  There was much more I could have talked about, but I will just say that you have to read the book. I would suggest that you wait to open the cover until you have a good long stretch uninterrupted time to read.  To say that I Joyfully Recommend Archangel’s Viper as a must-read and a true keeper, doesn’t quite cover it, but I do so whole-heartedly.

Elena is constantly learning not only about her sexy Archangel consort, but also about the Cadre itself and how they rule.  She just learned from Raphael that there is actually one group of angels called the Luminata who can call the Cadre to meet and has just did so.  It seems everyone has been searching for the Archangel Lijuan, and now things have turned dangerous, so the Luminata has called a meeting to deal with her land.

Elena is more excited about where the meeting is going to be held, which is the land of her mother’s family—Morocco.  While Raphael is dealing with the Cadre, Elena is going to doing a personal type of hunt to see if she can discover any information about her mother’s family.  She knows that her unique coloring might be a clue.  However, as soon as Raphael and Elena hit the home of the Luminata, it is very evident that something is very wrong there.

The more Elena digs, the more she discovers that the path of tracing her grandparents just might point to a very unexpected place and the past and present just might be closer than anyone ever expected.  If that isn’t enough to keep Elena and Raphael busy, the Cadre has attracted the deadly attention of the Cascade and, of course, the Archangels cannot agree on the Lijuan question:  Is she really asleep or just laying low to regain her strength for another deadly attack?  When the answers to all of the questions are answered, several lives will change forever—especially Elena and Raphael’s.

An unexpected trip to Morocco gives Elena a chance to learn more about her maternal family while accompanying Raphael to a mandatory meeting of the Cadre.  Neither expects the strange twists and turns they discover in Archangel’s Heart.  I’m going to say right off the bat that this is a “who needs sleep anyway” book.  Once you start it, you won’t want to stop reading it.  I know I didn’t.  I was totally engrossed with discovering more about the inner workings of the Cadre and also watching as Elena discovered the mystery on why her mother was orphaned.  I also enjoyed watching as the various members of the Cadre interacted  Unlike the last few books which were spaced closely together, this one opens two years after the last.

One of the first things I noticed was that the love between Raphael and Elena had not only grown, but had relaxed into an even more give-and-take between them.  Of course, I loved the same wonderful lighthearted periods along with the deep suspense and even danger that I have come to love with the Guild Hunter books.  I found that every page added to the story, and I really just never wanted to put it down in order to do anything.  My suggestion to you is to not open the front cover until you know you have an extended period of time to just read.  There was no doubt in my mind that Archangel’s Heart has leaped to the top of my favorites by this author, and I love all of her books for different reasons.  Of course I’m Joyfully Recommending Archangel’s Heart as a must read.  With all the changes that happened in the end, I can tell you that I’m already panting for the next book in this series.

FIRST TIME IN PRINT Nalini Singh, the New York Times bestselling “alpha author of paranormal romance” (Booklist) returns to an immortal world of violent passion and lethal power...on the brink of a deadly archangelic war. Angels are falling from the sky in New York, struck down by a vicious, unknown force. Vampires are dying impossibly of disease. Guild hunter Elena Deveraux and the Archangel Raphael must discover the source of the wave of death before it engulfs their city and their people, leaving New York a ruin and Raphael’s Tower under siege by enemy archangels. Yet even as they fight desperately to save the city, an even darker force is stirring, its chill eyes trained on New York...and on Raphael. Rivers of crimson and nightmares given flesh, the world will never again be the same...

The Cascade is continuing and it becomes obvious that someone has decided that Raphael’s territory is up for grabs and they aren’t being subtle about it.  First, angels are harmed in a weird way and just as Raphael and Elena learn just how badly they have been hit, even more deadly events take place.  The Cascade is bringing new and powerful gifts to the archangels – some are turning out to be useful and some are turning out to be deadly.  Even though Elena and Raphael haven’t figured out who is behind these events that are seeking to take them out, they know that time is of the essence and it’s time to prepare battle plans.

While all of this is going on, Elena and Raphael are still discovering what their lives together will bring and how they will be able to help each other to protect their people and Raphael is discovering what his new powers just might entail.  Their enemy has a name now and while the target is Raphael and Elena right now, they won’t be the only ones on this particular hit list.  As the depth of the army coming against them is found out, Raphael and Elena both call for all the help they can manage.  They final battle is going to be angels, vampires and hunters all fighting together to protect the city they love and their family and friends.  Just when it seems like all is lost, reinforcements suddenly appear to help save Manhattan.  Now that the battle is finally over, it’s time to find out who the newcomers are and why they came to help out just when they were most needed.  The answer will take Elena and Raphael into yet another level in their relationship.

When a power hungry archangel targets Raphael and Elena and their territory to take out, it takes their love, strength and the help of all their friends and people to win the day in Archangel’s Legion.  When I turned the final page, all I could think of was “WOW.”  I was unable to put this book down from the minute I picked it up until I turned the last page, which goes back to my first statement.  I loved seeing Elena and Raphael’s relationship jump heaps and bounds forward and evolve from where we last saw them.  Yes, they argued and had some words, but what couple doesn’t if they are in a healthy relationship.  I really enjoyed watching as not only Raphael’s people gathered to battle with him but that all of the hunters also came together to join the battle with their unique skills and talents.  I have to admit I wasn’t surprised to learn who was behind the attacks but I was surprised to see how much that particular archangel had changed and it was not for the good.

While the battle was going on, I was worried in a few places that this would be the last of Elena and Raphael and the good guys wouldn’t come out as the victors.  But what really threw me for a loop was just who the last minute helpers were and what it meant to both Elena and Raphael.  Archangel’s Legion is one heck of a coaster ride that takes you from sexy times to fierce battles and back again.  If you aren’t holding your breath at least once, then you aren’t really reading this latest journey that Elena and Raphael take, as their lives and love grow even stronger.  If you haven’t guessed yet, I absolutely Joyfully Recommend Archangel’s Legion as a must read and it will have a permanent place on your keeper shelf for not only the reasons I have mentioned but for the many, many more that I am waiting for you to discover.
