Series: Guthrie Brothers #1
Published by HQN Books Genres: Contemporary
Don’t Tempt Me is the first book in a brand new series by Lori Foster and right off the bat I am already in love with it. We are introduced to amazing new characters and a new town that already has me looking for the next book in the Guthrie Brothers series.
Jason Guthrie keeps busy with fixing up things for his neighbors and his community and while working Jason is also helping his widowed brother and nephew get back on their feet. All around he is a good guy so when he meets his new neighbor, Honor, and realizes she is the one who bought the rundown house next door he offers to help fix it up even if she is determined to do it on her own.
Honor Brown was raised by her devoted grandfather and she decided it was time to move closer to the nursing home he is now in to spend as much time with him as possible. Honor knew the house she bought was a fixer upper but she already has a lot going on by taking care of her grandfather and working as a hair dresser. She is working herself to death by trying to keep up with getting the house in order but with Jason around and wanting to help with everything she feels like she is losing her independence. The more time that Honor spends in Jason’s company the more the walls that she built up around her are starting to fall but will they stay down when Jason gets a glimpse of her past?
From the moment Jason and Honor met they had such great chemistry and even though their meeting for the first time wasn’t that smooth I was already rooting for them as a couple. Both Honor and Jason were such great characters and I was really drawn to them right away. One of the moments I really adored was when Jason and his friends bring Honor in as a part of their family since she was basically all alone. They showed her so much love, devotion, and protection that I wanted to move on the same street as them.
Don’t Tempt Me was a sweet and emotional read that had me hooked from the beginning. Ms. Foster introduced new characters that were well thought up and detailed so well that they meshed perfectly. There wasn’t one character in this new group of friends that I didn’t want to know more about. Don’t Tempt Me focuses on the romance between Jason and Honor but there is a side romance going on as well between Honor’s best friend Lexie and her neighbor Sullivan. These two were funny and I wished they had their own book but I am looking forward to seeing them again in future stories.
I just loved Don’t Tempt Me and watching these two polar opposite couples fall in love. In true Lori Foster fashion Don’t Tempt Me had me laughing, crying and most of all swooning. I am really looking forward to see where Ms. Foster will take the Guthrie Brothers series and most of all I can’t wait to revisit with these characters.
